I was in the locker room getting changed after my 1st period Gym class. The principal of the school came over the intercom and announced that a plane had hit the World Trade Center. For the rest of the day, we watched the footage in almost every class.
I lived in south eastern PA at the time, but a lot of my fellow students' parents worked in NYC or DC, so it was a really stressful day while they waited to hear from their parents. I think one of my teacher's daughters was in the tower at the time, but made it out.

Thank you I am almost a PhD candidate now, they just have to officially accept my proposal, which should be soon! I have jumped through 2 of 3 fiery, fiery hoops, the third being my dissertation! I'm an ABD! (All But Dissertation!) I think the only time I've been more excited than this is when my husband proposed!! haha

How do you get people to tell you what they want?! Or are you guys just awesome at guessing/knowing? My family is difficult, especially my Dad. He always just goes out and buys the stuff he wants and doesn't tell anybody anything. I'm envious of all you good shoppers.
Mine, too. I usually just ask them. Of course my husband always tells me "nothing". Yeah right! I have to and WANT to get you something, you're my husband! I have some ideas for some people, and will probably start soon!

For take out, I usually like tomato pie if it's available, or plain cheese sicilian. I also like veggies of any kind on thin crust! There's a place near us which makes AWESOME fancy pizza (it's a fancy sit-down pizzeria), with things like fig jam, prosciutto, and goat cheese, or crab, or any variety of other things! I've also had a great restaurant pizza with spinach, acorn squash, and goat cheese.
For Chicago Style, I like fresh garlic, mushrooms, and olives and TONS of cheese!!!
For home-made, I like lots of tomato sauce, cheese, Kalamata olives, onions, fresh garlic, and anchovies (am I the only one?). I sometimes make white pizza with tomatoes, mozzarella, spinach and shrimp.

I finished. Just waiting on them to make a decision. Should know in ~10 minutes.
I really messed up some simple stuff. I'm really nervous about that. I think my presentation went well, but I really, really messed up basic questions.
ETA: Passed 'em! I haven't been that nervous in a while! I can now happily move on to focusing on my research. Woohoo!

My PhD qualifying exam starts in 38 minutes. I'm totally panicked!! Basically, it's two hours long, the professors can ask me pretty much anything, and if I don't pass, I get to pack up and leave! I've studied a lot, but it's so hard to study for an exam where you don't know what might be asked!
Wish me luck!!

I've always wanted a horse and we're looking into get one (or two) once we buy a house and resettle our finances, hopefully in a year or so. I'd ideally like to adopt off-the-track racehorses as I've worked with them in the past and they are just lovely, smart critters.
If we ever had a child and he or she wanted to ride, I would buy a pony, but a large enough pony that it wouldn't be outgrown (mainly because I am small enough to ride a large pony, so if the child lost interest, I could ride it!)

If you have a large hip to waist ratio, be very careful with their measurements and ask how big the hips are compared to the waist. I have a 12 inch difference between my waist and hip, and I have bought off-the-rack corsets that make my legs go numb from the pressure they put on my hips before they even are a little tight at the waist. I also have a 4+ inch difference between my waist and underbust, so I can get too much rib-pressure going on, too, in some cases.
I have off-the-rack corsets that work, too, it's just something you need to watch out for.

If you go with a garter belt, make sure the stockings/tights you get are made for garter belts, not regular stay-up thigh highs. They will be much more comfortable that way...
Also, make sure you get a garter belt with at least six straps and with metal clips, or else your stockings may twist or even fall down. Garter belts are wonderful (I wear them often), but you can't cheap out on them without having problems!

I don't even know what it was called, but I used to eat cream of wheat every morning that had packets of jelly stuff that you could use to "design" the cream of wheat. It was like 20 years ago, when I was really little, but I still remember it.
Another food I miss that I don't remember the names of: the fruit snacks which had unicorns and Pegasus shaped pieces.
The Vermonty Python flavored Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream was AWESOME.

Thank you both very much! I really loved my dress, it was exactly what I had imagined and my stepmom was so wonderful. She put oodles of time into it, so I really want to make sure it lasts as an heirloom!
