Welcome!  :hiya:
I too recognize your user name from surfing EBay and agree that you offer some great ponies! I definitely would have guessed you are a collector by the way you condition and display your EBay ponies. I'm actually "watching" a few of your auctions now. I'm very new here myself but everyone is so sweet and helpful...you'll learn lots  :thumb:

...Update...
My first Summer Wing pony arrived safe and sound today, bubble wrapped in a box!!  :hearts:

Thank you very much to all who weighed in on this!
If I hadn't asked you guys and taken your advice to get the seller to change from the padded envelope, I feel certain she would have arrived severely damaged!

Crisis averted, thanks to the arena  :grouphug:

Off Topic / Re: Beauty and the Beast live action
« on: February 02, 2017, 10:42:48 AM »
Like most of you, I also loved the animated Disney version as a little girl. Even if it wasn't my all time favorite, it was top of the stack for sure  :)
I'm definitely going to see this movie. Oddly enough my husband is actually looking forward to seeing it and watched all the trailers before me! It's strange considering his favorite genre is Westerns

I'm just not sure I can watch it and see Belle instead of Emma Watson. While watching the trailers I just keep seeing Emma playing Belle. Does that make sense?

Off Topic / Re: What do you order at McDonald's ?
« on: February 01, 2017, 11:23:54 AM »
McDonald's is a horrible, horrible thing. The food makes my stomach hurt, and it always tastes stale for some reason.... That being said, I occasionally feel nostalgia for the chicken mcnuggets I'd order on road trips as a child. Once or twice a year I'll get a happy meal, and then I regret all the life choices I've ever made that lead me to that mcpath.
:silly:

  the McPath...that cracks me up!
Just like a lot of others, my tummy doesn't really care for McDonalds these days. But, occasionally I like to get an apple pie, the fried pie, not the baked one  :yummy:

I also agree with their Coke being the best for some crazy reason!

Welcome to the Arena :lovey:

I totally understand the nostalgia and excitement that comes from recollecting and opening new pony mail.  Enjoy every moment and never be ashamed with the things that make you happy!!! :)

Thank you so much Spinky69er
I'm already learning so much here in the arena and everyone is very welcoming! And as far as not being ashamed of what makes me happy...I'm learning that here too!  :grouphug:

Pony Corral / Re: What ponies would you love if not for one thing?
« on: January 30, 2017, 08:15:48 AM »
Another group of ponies that fall into this category for me are those with glittery symbols, since they're so prone to glitter loss. There's a number of them (unicorns especially) that I'd otherwise love to have.

I agree 1000%!
For something made to supposedly withstand play by small children, the glittery symbols seem surprisingly fragile. I mean, don't get me wrong, I think G1 ponies are beautiful and I want them all
but it's sad to see ponies that are in excellent shape except for their glittery symbols

@Lollipop - I would be leaving neutral feedback for a seller who ignored my packing requests and thus risked damaging the item.

Yes this is what I think I will be doing. (Haven't left my feedback yet)

I second what Taffeta said Lollipop. That's so awful, sorry you had that experience but maybe your feedback can warn another pony purchaser before it happens to them. It doesn't sound like an accident on the sellers part... Just willful negligence and care for the pretty pony you paid good money for!

56
Oh my goodness, you guys are so awesome with all the responses to this question!    :worshippy:
I'm learning so much and I'm sure this is going to help someone else out too! I'm such a newbie at purchasing ponies so I appreciate the education on something that should be as simple as shipping. As lovesbabysquirmy said...hooves crossed that she arrives safe and sound!!

I'm sorry some of you have had bad shipping experiences though. I wonder if sellers that are not collectors themselves think of them more as toys than collectibles and ship them accordingly?
Instead of the way we would package them...like fine china  :inlove:
All of these stories and advice is definitely going to make me more aware of the packaging method of future purchases. It's got to be heartbreaking to receive something you thought was so perfect...only to have it arrive in pieces  :yikes:
I should have started a poll, I'm thinking it would be 100% box all the way! Lol
I haven't read anypony saying, "no big deal, ship it in a padded envelope, it'll be all good"   :P

57
I would not only go for a box but wrap the wings in bubble wrap, then wrap the pony in bubble wrap as well.

Thanks for the advice! Can you ship my pony next time?! Lol. I know she'd arrive safe and sound  :good:

58
Thanks for the advice Hannah66665 and lovesbabysquirmy!
I've been sitting here chewing my nails just thinking about the horrible condition she could arrive in   :freak:

The seller I bought from deals in vintage items but not a lot of MLP. I just sent her a convo and she responded back super fast that she'd be happy to box it!  :newpony:

I'm still a little stressed because they don't normally sell ponies...like you said lovesbabysquirmy...but I feel a bit better now. I'm a brand new collector and I know I'm going to make some mistakes. I'd still like to hear everyone's thoughts for future purchases. Is it ever ok to ship ponies in padded envelopes or only boxes? What are your experiences?
I'll post and update here when my Summer Wing arrives!
Thanks everypony  :grouphug:  your advice pushed me to contact the seller and I'm hoping for a happy ending.

59
Thanks for the response Elisto!
The wings look to be in really great condition...I'm thinking hard about requesting a box but I'm sure that could have drawbacks as well

Hi everypony  :)
I just purchased my first Summer Wing pony online  :hearts:
The seller I purchased from is shipping my new SW pony in a padded USPS envelope with a few other ponies. Would you be concerned about damage to her wings? I'm sure there's lots of experienced pony shippers and receivers on here  ;)  I'm hoping you guys can tell me what you think about this!
Thanks in advance

Pretty please, move this if I've posted it in the wrong forum ...thank you mods!
