This is so cool! I can imagine the excitement of finding new unopened toys you completely forgot you had! It must feel like Christmas :D

Pony Corral / Re: Who were your childhood ponies?

G3! Though they were more "late childhood" to me since I got a Flippity Flop when I was 9 (2004-ish). I also had Coconut Cream, Wing Song and baby Goody Gumdrop. I wasn't into ponies or any of the girly stuff when G2 was around, even though I assume I was in the target age group when they came out. I didn't even know they existed until I started looking into the history of MLP later on.

Pony Corral / Show me your before vs. after cleaning/restoration pics!

There are only a few things more satisfying than seeing a sad, dirty pony being turned into a near-mint looking one, am I right? :D I love seeing before/after transformations, especially when they're extreme. Do you have any before vs. after photos?

I personally love cleaning and restoring ponies, but unfortunately I haven't come across any super dirty ponies that need some serious spa time yet :)

Not too much a fan of G2s, but her colors are nice.

Same here :)

What is she going for MIB these days?  I still have mine stored away and am toying with the idea of selling her...

There's currently two on ebay that's $50 MIB, also there's a set of 3 from that set (including her) MIB for around $100, though I've seen someone trying to sell her MIB for around $100

I really want this pony someday, she's one of my grails, but even loose she's way out of my price range  :cloud:

I've been looking on ebay and people are selling her loose for around $50 and I doubt that's a fair price. Is she that much rarer than other G3s?

I recently got a 25th anniversary repro Minty from a trade and I'm absolutely in love with her! I take her wherever I go lol :D (just like in the commercial!) Probably that's because she's my first G1-mold pony and she's so different from my G3 army :)

I'm also obsessed with Shady. It was love from the first sight. I love neon things and pink things, and that color combo is to die for hehe   ^^; I bought the NSS version from an arena member and can't wait to get her!  :frolic:

I agree! The POTD threads are one of the best things in this forum :D I look forward to each and every one as well, since so many ponies I've never heard of, and I love reading different opinions too :)

Pony Corral / Re: Saving boxes/cards; what do you do?
« on: April 14, 2015, 01:51:50 PM »
I used to keep the G3 backcards, but I've lost them over the years, unfortunately.

I recently deboxed a G3 Minty as carefully as possible, and kept the whole box.

If I ever came across any G1/G2 backcards/boxes, I'd hang onto them because they have nice art and pictures on them. I'd keep the G3 packaging for the same reason. I don't feel the same about G4 though, the boxes don't seem that special to me.

Basically I'd keep any packaging that looks pretty. (I have stacks of Monster High boxes in my closet for the very same reason :D )

Pony Corral / Re: MLP quality control....
« on: April 14, 2015, 01:43:08 PM »
When I got my Diamond Mint I thought it was just me being more picky than an average 5-year old, but apparently the quality (especially the hair) has certainly dropped. Not to mention the tails. My Diamond Mint came out of the box with a slightly frizzy tail, so I barely even touched it, but my sister's Rarity and Twilight have tails that are beyond repair, since she plays with them (I tried restoring them, but it's hopeless). I really really wish Hasbro cared more about the hair, because, speaking from a child's perspective, when your favorite toy has ugly matted messed up hair, it's not much fun anymore.

On the price topic, it's even more sad since I paid €12 for Diamond Mint (which is absolutely insane) when back in the day I used to get G3s for half of that price that were twice the size and had soft, silky hair. (I never bought G3.5s or earlier G4s so I can't really tell anything about the quality of those).
