Pony Corral / Re: Pindot
« on: December 07, 2015, 07:48:50 AM »
I had a TAF Buttons that had pindot and what I did was first washed her in oxyclean to get rid of anything she had on her that would come off. Ten I would take hot baths (I like baths), watch a movie or have an audiobook going during the bath, and take the pony in the bath with me (opened up). The heat helped to open the pores as it were and I just used my nails to scrape her body to get the pindot out. It took a multiple baths (terrible I know) but the baths worked as spa sessions.

I know Absol has begun a PhD course since Sept so probably it'll take longer to respond to messages.

Good to know! Thank you, I was worried that maybe something had happened. I'll get rid of my impatience then, I had a friend who got her PhD and it was basically her life so I just won't worry too much if it takes Absol time to get to me.  :)

I think you need to contact Absol about the wiki, they are the ones who are mostly in charge of it and did at some point make a post about it and editors :3

I sent an email to the one listed on the wiki help page last week, I'm just impatient excited to work on it.  ;)

Hi all!

So I think I might be blind or incompetent or something but I want to become an editor to work on a few pages that need some work.... but I can't figure out how to create an account to join. The login page doesn't have a create an account link and the help page only talks about the steps after that. I'm guessing some of you know how to do this, can you help me?

Thanks!

Pony Corral / Re: Tips for Shipping Packaging?

onies in unstable poses may benefit form having their legs supported during shipping - the Buttons Pose and Love Melody pose come to mind as two that are easily warped.

I hadn't thought about this one. Smart.

Excellent tips everyone!

I have a SS Angel and I worry about her head angle and if it would get overly rubbed in shipping if I don't put her in a box.

Pony Corral / Tips for Shipping Packaging?

I'd like everyone's input on the best method for shipping ponies?

I have a few G1s I'd like to sell eventually and just haven't because I'm unsure of the best ways to do it. I've seen a lot of interesting packaging over the years. Bubble envelopes, inside-out hot chocolate boxes, multiple manila envelopes taped together, actual flat rate USPS boxes (which seems like the safest if not the cheapest)... I've seen the ponies themselves wrapped in ziplocks, in bubble wrap, wrapped in paper, wingy wings with cardboard protection on their wings, loose in the box... I'm pretty sure newspaper is a no-no. So I have a few questions:

How do you keep the costs of shipping down?
What kind of packaging do you use for awkward pose ponies?
So Softs... Safest way to keep flocking from coming off?

Any other tips are welcome!

Thanks!

I have read to never use the boiling method on color-changing hair. Which is sad because that would be prime hair for straightening.

Hi,

What are Petite Ponies going for nowadays? I'm thinking full sets, including prices for MIP.

I don't have any MIP but I am thinking about making an offer to buy back a set or two from a gal who I originally bought a couple sets for over a decade ago.

Thanks!

Oh man. Straightening hair.... Let me tell you all a sad story about Buzzer and an unfortunate incident with an iron. A clothing iron. I had read that you can straighten pony hair by using an iron on it on the lowest setting. But apparently I don't use my iron very often and I did it wrong.

Instead of being turned on the lowest setting it was turned on the highest. This resulted in the worst hair I've seen short of what happened to a baby sea pony that I happened to love very much when I went through a "chew on all the things" phase.

The worst, a bunch of hair melted onto the iron and into the microfiber rag I used to iron her hair on. I could hear the hair sizzle. It was fried as fried could be. I figured she was a lost cause and maybe someone would want to rehair her, but I did some research into how to straighten pony hair and figured out you can dip it into boiling water on the stove to soften it and then use a comb or something flat to pull the hair strait, and when the hair cools it will take on a straighter form. It helped Buzzer's hair go from a disaster to just not so great.

Starflower's hair wasn't the worst but it definitely needed some help. I boiled, pulled the hair straight with the flat side of a comb (on the counter top with a towel under, don't burn your finger tips the hair will be very hot), let cool, and repeat easily a dozen times. It worked wonders. The ends are still a little messy looking and I might do the boil thing again eventually. I've posted some photos of her hair currently. Distance gives a wonderful illusion of perfect hair, but it's not quite as perfect as it looks, it's WAY nicer than it was though.

Mexican Starflower! I'm considering her my gateway drug into the world of Nirvanas.  There's no stopping me now! I'm hooked!

She cleaned up well, I had to boil-straighten her hair as it was rather fried and she got a deep clean that took most of the aged-on dirt off. And considering she's a variant of one of my all time favorites I'm super happy with her.

She gets to hang out with Gypsy and my lil' Litters for now. I'm hoping for Mexican Pinwheel next.
