Pony Corral / Re: Advice on restoration
« on: January 27, 2018, 06:21:54 PM »
I think it is great that you want to learn to restore your ponies before selling.  But I also want to add you will unlikely see a financial return for the time and money you invest in these lovely ladies if you do go ahead and rehair them.  Some collectors like their ponies 100% original regardless of previous condition.  Also, for ponies that do not fetch a lot of money, you may be better off letting the new owners restore them.  With 200 ponies to go through, a good wipe down and brushing may be the best way to go.

I would probably contact the person I sent the money to if it was for a sale no matter how it was paid for and get them to create a hand written sales receipt.

Of course   Thanks!!

If you pay for an item using PayPals Friend's and Family option, and item gets lost in the mail, can you make an insurance claim without an actual invoice if insurance was put on package?

I was reading through USPS claims process regarding what you can do when you don't have a bill of sales/invoice/receipt.  There was mention of getting the expert opinion of a qualified person, or something like that, but I don't think there are certified/licensed mlp appraisers.  Maybe I'm wrong.

Proof of Value
Either the mailer or the addressee must submit acceptable proof to establish the cost or value of the article at the time it was mailed. Proof of value should be submitted electronically or attached to the claim form under 1.5; otherwise, the claim cannot be processed. Other proof may be requested to help determine an accurate value. Examples are:

a. A sales receipt, paid invoice or bill of sale, or statement of value from a reputable dealer.

b. Paid repair bills; if the claim is for partial damage, estimates of repair costs or appraisals from a reputable dealer. Repair costs may not exceed the original purchase price.

c. Receipt or invoice for the costs incurred to buy a surety bond required to reissue a lost item.

d. Receipt or invoice of costs incurred for the reconstruction of nonnegotiable documents.

e. A copy of a credit card statement or other documentation indicating the amount paid.

f. For Internet transactions conducted through a Web-based payment network that offers payment services through a stored value account, provide a computer printout of the online transaction identifying the purchaser and seller, price paid, date of transaction, description of item purchased, and assurance that the transaction status is completed. The printout must clearly identify the Web-based payment network provider through which the Internet transaction was conducted.

I realize you should always use goods and services for protection of both parties and that it is against PayPals policies to do what I am discussing.  Except for a couple of times with small ticket items (less than $20 purchase price), I have always paid through goods and services and have even covered the fees at times.

There is only one time that an item did not make it to me but that was through eBay and their GSP program (?).  I had other items take up to 6 weeks to land on my doorsteps, but stuff has always arrived.

Thanks for any input

I have all three of those lovely ladies.  And to keep the peace, they each have their own Tux.

I put my pony's affected area in hot water for about two to three minutes to let the pores really open up. Then I squirt I bit of soap on her, and scrape pretty hard with my fingernail. The tips I can give you are to put her in hot water for a long time such as two to three minutes to get the pores open, use soap, and scrape hard with a strong fingernail :) Getting the pores open and scraping hard make a big difference!

This.  I don't just scrape though.  With the plastic being soft from the heat, I squeeze and scrape.  And when the plastic starts to stiffen again, heat it up (dip in hot water). Pliable plastic is key.  Very similar to trying to pop a zit  :P

Of course, there are some areas that you are not able to squeeze, those become the more labor intensive scrubbing parts

These guys are all over the place.  Sugarcake, I have seen sold anywhere from $500 in a crazy bidding war, down to $180-$200.  Gametime (pink pony) $180-$200. With their accessories, Sugarcake' seemed to fetch more.  Of course, you do have the blindfold for Gametime's.  I know someone recently got lucky on a purchase and bought both with their accessories for under $90 each. Just a tad jealous here   Best bet, auction with a reserve price of $275

Sweet Scoops $350.  As for the charm, I would auction it.  Be sure to list it very clearly.  Somebody will be willing pay a hefty price.  Last I heard, the charm goes for more than the pony herself.  Crazy I know

Darn-it, now I want the charm

Not worth the stress.  Was being nosey and found what probable pony you are describing.  If this individual is to leave you negative feedback, I believe you have a right to respond to it so you can defend your actions.  In fact, I would be straight up with the buyer. Let them know you are sorry if its one heck of a coincidence, but not a chance you are willing to take.  Don't Do It!!

I used to use my debit card for everything, but found out a credit card is much safer.  If some steals your debit card number and uses it, that comes directly out of your banking account.  It can take a awhile to recover that money.  With the credit card, it's not your money.  Plus with my credit card, I also get points.  I always pay it off at the end of each period.

OMG! You are from Madison, WI?  Same here  ^.^

As for your pony, I would probably re-hair her in some complementary colors and make her the fourth member of the set

Bon Bon for sure.  Wanted one so bad, got into a bidding war and paid at least twice what she was worth

I now have 3; one with a haircut that I plan to re-hair, plus the Dutch version of her  :inlove:

i have been looking for Katie's kitty for a while, have offered money and other items for trade with no luck.  So here I am again in an attempt to trade; taking advantage of the hype over the 35th Anniversary Ponies   I managed to track down two sets and am hoping someone is up for trading their Katie kitty for one of the sets.

Thanks

you give me this...

I would recommend adding some California sagebrush.

The flowers have a slight tinge of pink which may complement the setting.

I have some artificial turf coming in that I may spray paint a yellow-gold color just in case the fabric bottom does not sit well with me.  I did order some prairie like plants with flowers, but are yellow and orange.  Thanks so much though.  Love your train of thought
