Hooray that is so exciting about your first BJD
I'm not going to be a big help on your decision as I only have tinies myself but can help with a few general questions!
I haven't had any problems with my tan dolls - I've had one light brown skin from Luts who was a few years old and still gorgeous. I've also never had any issues with chipping - however one of my dolls did take a tumble and now has some sealant peeling off the tip of her nose. This is only visible with a macro lens though so I'm not too concerned. Not sure if larger dolls are easier to chip though!
I know that luts do have an ebay store but it shouldn't be any cheaper - do keep in mind that the ones on ebay don't have faceups which might explain the price difference?
If you do end up buying second hand do make sure the doll comes with it's certificate of authenticity and potentially have the buyer send you a screenshot of their original receipt if you are unsure.
Personally I keep all my dolls away from light as this tends to cause their resin to yellow. Mine all live in a bookself dollhouse with a door on the front
Most importantly though - have fun with them
can't wait to see who you choose!
