The Dollhouse / Re: Barbie
« on: January 09, 2017, 09:40:35 PM »
I love the 80-90's Barbie.  Modern Barbie is awful - I HATE the legs!  and the body proportions are all weird and they can't share my childhood Barbie clothes.
No place to set up a display though so it lives in boxes all over my house LOL

I prefer the older barbie legs as well, the bendable ones. Now they are that hard plastic. I still buy the new fashionistas though.

That is my FAVORITE board game. I used to play it a ton as a kid and have played it a couple times with my boyfriends family over the last few years. It's always interesting how to see it turn out. Sometimes you win big, other times you end up with no kids, no nice car, and losing your job and ending up with some crappy one. I believe they have apps for it as well.

The Dollhouse / Re: What kind of doll collector are you?
« on: January 08, 2017, 01:36:03 PM »
Originally, I was only supposed to be collecting dolls that I had as a child. After my mom passed in March, I went through a really bad depression. I started thinking about my childhood and how much I loved some of my dolls so I started hitting ebay and buying some. Spice Girls, Britney Spears, Barbie.. that sort of thing. However, it since kind of turned to buying other play line dolls. I wasn't going to go down the Monster High rabbit hole, because I've been there before back in 2012-2014 and ended up selling due to a financial crisis in 2015. However, I couldn't resist some of those.

Mainly, I stick to play lines. I adore some of those BJDs I see other people have but I don't want to shell more than 30-40 dolls out for any doll. I am cheap. I like good deals. Unless it is a Project MC2 doll, I almost never pay full price. But I love these girls. They are my favorite line.

Right now, I guess you can say my main collection is Project MC2, Bratz, and Barbie. There are some others but the biggest three are those. I like the fashionistas for Barbie. Especially the diverse body type ones. Bratz are my guilty pleasure. I can't help myself when I see a nice one for a few dollars on ebay. I'll buy her and add to my collection. I am different about my Bratz then any other doll. They don't have to be complete with original clothes. If the doll is pretty and I like whatever outfit the owner put her in, she comes home with me and hangs out with my small (getting larger ) group of bratz. I like the boys too because I can pose them together.

Now Project MC2 has to be complete. I don't really care about the projects/accessories but they have to have their clothes and be in pristine condition. These are my favorites. I hold them to a higher standard. They ALWAYS come out of the box. Some of my barbies, if they aren't fashionistas or newer ones, stay in the box. I love 90's barbies. But I don't debox. They stay in their pretty pink boxes for display only. Monster High's also come out. But I only have about 4 of those and I don't buy as often.

I collect random Disney dolls too. But I don't care for the Hasbro ones. Their heads are just.. odd.. lol.

Anyway, that's the kind of collector I am. Sorta all over the place.

The Dollhouse / Re: Mattel vs MGA: Who had the better doll lines?
« on: January 08, 2017, 01:28:38 PM »
Haven't logged on in a few days but came back to see all the opinions on this thread. And wow, I'm so happy I'm not the only one who has been comparing the lines for years. The more I think about it, I really tend to lean towards MGA overall. But! My Scene dolls were amazing. And I would LOVE to see a reboot of these. I don't have any in my collection but they really did go toe to toe with Bratz. They were both great lines. I guess everything sort of has it's decline these days. Everyone is trying to make things cheaper. But it seems like Barbie went way cheaper than anything. I still love seeing new lines. And I really hope that maybe in a year or two, MGA will try with Bratz again.

Welcome back! Always glad to see people return. I love talking to other collectors. I love G1 too but don't have any in my collection currently though I use to! G2 is probably my favorite but I love all generations. Currently I only have a small herd of G4's and a few G3's since I sold off all of my original collection a few years back. But like you, I still like to admire other collectors collections. I hope you stick around!  :)

I love the new set up! You're making me want a second betta lol. In my kitchen I have a tall 15 gallon tank with a betta in it and his tankmates, a pack of tetras. I don't think there's ever been a time when I didn't have a pet fish.

Just commenting to say he's totally cute!

I bet someone from the barbie community will love him. Barbie doesn't make babies anymore. So hunting down a Krissy can be pretty expensive.

I love fakies. Those are actually some pretty cute ones. I collect Buddy L ponies which is considered MLP fakies. I have a small heard of them that watch over my G4's.

I like that they are G3 fakies. I always adored G3 ponies.
