I have done yarn and several knots to hold tails in.
For hard head rerooting I have put rice in a sock and nuked it. Put the sock on the head to warm it and it is easier. Not tried it with repainted though so not sure if that helps.

I have glow nylon from custom doll hair AU on etsy. More delicate than dolly hair nylon, tangles easier. I think each strand is thinner which might contribute. Looks awesome. I have also gotten several colors from Doll Planet. That stuff is melt in your fingers soft!! It does not seem to style as easily as dolly hair, but I over did the mane. For the pony I was doing, the sort of out of control look fits.

I grew up near a college that has a dairy microbiology department. Part of that includes making ice cream. My fave from childhood was the bubblegum. They put so many pieces in it!!! Not made anymore which is sad. In the adult world, I like the simple vanilla and chocolate. Preferably without all the artificial stuff, so Breyers or similar. I have made a very yummy cherry ice cream with fresh cherries.
