Pony Corral / Re: Blue-striped Fifi variant?

Yeah, I was kind of concerned thinking that it could be recolored or rehaired. It'll be a little disappointing if she turns out to be, but if not, it's not that big of a concern, since I can always just alternate rehair her.

Pony Corral / Blue-striped Fifi variant?
« on: October 28, 2014, 07:21:32 AM »
So uh, I don't know if anyone here happened to be bidding on this, but I'd been watching all week and I kinda sorta won the auction.   :frolic:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VTG-MY-LITTLE-PONY-11-G1-baitcustomrestore-LOT-some-rare-so-soft-pocket-friend-/181565335794#viTabs_0

There were several reasons why I wanted this lot- I see a bunch of ponies that I don't have yet, and despite being listed as bait, they really don't look too bad. What caught my eye though is that Fifi in the middle of the bottom row.

I've been looking for a Fifi anyway, but I wanted to ask about that blue stripe in her hair... has that ever been seen before? When the auction was first posted I did a quick search for "blue-haired Fifi" and "Fifi variants" but could find nothing. I'm really curious about her... so I thought I'd ask the experts!

Sorry if this has elements of overly bragging, but I'm just excited! Not just about Fifi, but a whole bunch of ponies that I've been after too.  :)

Pony Corral / Re: Did you use official MLP names for your toys as a kid?
« on: October 27, 2014, 02:24:50 PM »
Squeezer was by far the most creative. At the beginning of Rescue at Midnight Castle, the narrator says "starring Sandy Duncan and Tony Randall" just as Bowtie trots into view. Well Bowtie looked like Squeezer, so she was named "Tony Randall" for the longest time.

I was still really little when G1 ended, so I never knew their names or even that they had any. I always called my Lovin' Kisses "Magenta" because of her hair, and Star Glow was named "Shante" after a girl in my class who, very strangely, looked like Star Glow.

For some reason, my mind is translating that to "confuzzled Snuzzle." XD

That sounds like a great username, or maybe a rock band that only does songs about My Little Pony.

How cool is it that we have a zebra? Besides Zigzag.  :P

Don't forget Zeb from the "Bright Lights" MLP cartoon!  Although he was more of a freaky zebra-man-thing.  :P

Hehe, I forgot all about him, and for good reason. He certainly is freaky. o.O

It looks like that logo says "Kiss Lovely." I definitely see an S in there.

She's super cute though! I love the forehead gem and the tongue. And I am totally down with calling her Foola Roola.

Pony Corral / Re: What are your thoughts on opening MIP G1's?
« on: October 27, 2014, 10:59:22 AM »
I heard about your little mishap with shipping that Romper, Ivy, and I think you did the right thing by unboxing her. I would have done the same. Personally, I've never really had the experience of opening a G1, as I only had two ponies growing up and would have been too little to open them myself. I'd love to have an excuse to very carefully de-card and have a beautiful, mint, complete pony... As heartbreaking as it would be, it would be such a special thing to be able to experience just once.

But only if the packaging is damaged beyond repair, of course. If I filmed myself doing it, I'd probably put a bag over my head so no one could hunt me down!

I've seen these off and on during the rare occasions when I've strolled through Taobao.

I think they're pretty neat. I wonder if they'll ever hit stores and if they do, where.

I think it's not a spur-of-the moment thing and definitely something you should really think about first.

However, it's YOUR pony. I've been jumped on for saying this before, but I can't stress it enough. I do think it would be unwise because of value. It's probably better to trade for an already loose one. But, if it bothers you that much, I say go for it. It's yours and you paid for it- you're free to do what you want with it. Just understand why it's perhaps something you should research first.

This is a touchy subject, but at the end of the day, it's just a toy. As long as you're happy with it, then I'm happy with it.

Hehe, I actually ended up throwing most of the Barbie brushes in with my trade box, so I can stick them in packages as freebies. I used to use McPonies, but I'm out. Once I'm out of Bella Sara cards, then Barbie brushes it is!

Hope nobody minds if I give this a little bumpity bump.

I'm still really curious about these, if anyone else out there is able to help. :)

I love sticking my G3s to the refrigerator as well. Sometimes I like to see how long it takes for everyone else to notice!

That looks a lot like mold and the fact that it is spreading makes it very likely. Was she somewhere humid while sunfading by any chance?

This was my first thought as well... I wonder if maybe some spores were dormant inside the plastic and exposure to the sun triggered them? I have no idea if that's possible. But wow. Have you tried washing the surface of the pony or anything like that? I'm curious if it will somehow wipe away, especially if it is mold/bacteria.
