Pony Corral / Re: Are you organized or not?
« on: November 28, 2019, 07:23:16 PM »
I'm kind of organized?

I have a website for my toy collections (MLP, Neopets, and various dolls) that I used to be really on top of updating. I still have a record of most ponies I own including a picture and when/how I got them organized by generation. Since donating a lot of G3s and G4s I need to update who I still have, as well as take new pictures when I get a new camera, but overall its still pretty accurate. I haven't gotten many new ponies (or dolls) since I stopped updating it.

As for storage, that's a whole different beast. When I moved out in early April my boyfriend put my ponies in a one of those big plastic tubs that can fit a ton of ponies standing up. Whatever fit in there, I took. He just put them in completely at random and I did very little to interfere with that. They're almost all still in there, although the lid has been open and just resting on top for months. No tissue paper or anything. However I do at least know where all of my ponies are. Only a few aren't in that tub and I know exactly where they are.

My dolls, on the other hand, are a disaster. Some are out, some are in specific boxes, and some are god knows where. Its a total mess. Trying to find a specific one is almost impossible.

Off Topic / Re: Konmari anyone?
« on: November 15, 2019, 11:24:12 PM »
I did!

I was reading through the books and just starting to go through the process when I decided to Konmari my marriage and throw it out  When I left, I used the techniques to decide what to take with me and what to leave because I had so little space to take anything. Almost all of my possessions were left behind and it was very freeing. I didn't do it traditionally by category, but just as I packed things from each section. Luckily I had the freedom to come back for a few things I regretted leaving behind but for the most part I never missed any of it.

Since then I've gotten rid of more things that no longer spark joy. Some stuff is still "well I need X thing so this will do for now" but for the most part I love almost everything I have. I no longer buy "placeholder" items, unless I absolutely have to, and that's honestly made shopping feel much more rewarding and less stressful whenever I have to do it.

Depends on the pet really.

I used to have two dogs that LOVED wearing clothes, it was ridiculous. They liked wearing sweaters and shirts all through winter and didn't mind coats if it was colder or costumes for short periods (or longer if the costumes were very basic). However after that, I had a cat who absolutely hated clothes. A hat or a festive collar was all she'd tolerate.

Right now we have two guinea pigs and a snake. I love those tube "sweaters" people make for snakes so I'd like to get one for Rose, I don't think she'd mind it for a short time. The boys I'm not so sure about. They might allow a very loose costume or hat, but we haven't tried anything yet. If they don't like it we wouldn't force it.

Pony Corral / Re: G2 McDonald's pony coming back Nov 7

My local McDonald's has them! My boyfriend brought Happy Meals to work for lunch :haha:

I didn't get Light Heart, but we did get 3 different toys. I'll have him try asking for #12 when he gets tomorrow's lunch!

I got an order in! Hopefully they don't arrive random. I've wanted a Concerned Pony forever.

The Dollhouse / Re: Do lalaloopsy's have any value?

I'm obsessed with Lalaloopsies but international shipping is beyond my means right now ): Good luck with the sale!

There's definitely still fans out there. I think part of the issue is how roughly Lalaloopsies owned by kids have been treated. Because they were aimed at/bought for such young kids, finding secondhand dolls in good collector shape is hard. Most of the ones I've seen for sale were obviously owned by kids and have the battle scars to prove it.

My boyfriend is going to be a female Scar from The Lion King.

Why is he a female version of Scar instead of just Scar?
You should go as a male Zira

He loves cosplay but almost all of his favorite characters are girls so he just cosplays as a girl. For FanX in April he was Kai'sa from LoL and a lot of our co-worker friends were super interested in the process. Everyone has seen the pictures/video from Salt Lake so a couple people are VERY excited to see him all dressed up as a girl at work. There would be some very disappointed fans if he dressed up as a masculine character for Halloween!  :lmao:

Our bosses are letting him go the whole nine yards with heels, chest, etc. Its gonna be amazing!!!

The Scar thing is just because the office voted on Disney villains as the theme for costumes this year. We were going to be Ninja Brian (me) and Danny (him) from NSP when we do Halloween with our friends but my ninja costume fell through.

Pony Corral / Re: Tailless Ponies-What to Do?

Missing a tail is absolutely not bait-worthy. That's such a minor problem.

Personally, I prefer my G1s without tails so I'll scoop them up that way any time I get the chance.

I haven't been able to dress up for Halloween since I was in high school a decade ago so we had some really big plans this year for like 4 different costumes each. Sadly they all fell through so I'm going to be a moth since we work on Halloween. My boyfriend is going to be a female Scar from The Lion King.

Still kicking myself I didn't think of buying one of those costume/animal onesies so I could freely wear comfy pajamas at work, haha!

Pony Corral / Re: Which Ponies Do You Think Look Good Aged?

Honestly, I'm obsessed with "baity" G1s in general so this is a hard question for me! I can't think of a single specific pony, but I absolutely love G1s without tails. Something about it is just so endearing to me.

I also desperately want a baity Mimic, if that counts. I can't recall actually seeing one before but I love just ponies that look really loved.

Off Topic / Re: Honeymoon fund as an alternative to a wedding list...
« on: September 02, 2019, 02:06:22 AM »
Its getting more and more common to have a honeymoon fund instead of a registry, but I've seen a lot of people say that some of their guests ignored or were uncomfortable with the fund. They either asked what the couple needed/wanted or bought entirely random things the couple had no use/space for. I'd suggest having a small registry, even if its not the typical wedding registry stuff, in case you have any guests like that.

As a sidenote the Wedding Planning sub on Reddit was a HUGE help when I was planning a wedding and I highly recommend it! Most of the wedding communities I found (forums and FB) were kind of... weird? Judgmental? I'm not sure how to put it exactly, but r/weddingplanning was the chillest and most helpful one for me personally. Just in case that might help you out :)

Off Topic / Re: Disney will remake Bambi in new Lionking style
« on: September 02, 2019, 01:58:35 AM »
I'm very curious about it.

I didn't know there was a book for Bambi, so I'll have to read that, but I've got a huge soft spot for the movie. My ex-husband's great grandpa was an artist for Disney and I spent the last ten years hearing so many stories about his work. His work on Bambi was some of his best and it was the movie that was 2nd most talked about movie that he worked on. Fantasia was the only one I heard more stories about. Even if my ex and I aren't together anymore, those stories mean so much to me and it makes the movies mean a lot more than they did to me as a kid.

Aside from that, I saw the "live action" (I wish people would stop calling it that) Lion King last week and I really enjoyed it. Part of that was definitely being in El Capitan, loving how much they put into the experience, but as a movie I still liked it. I felt it was a lot of fun and an interesting take on the movie. Of course I have some complaints but they're relatively small ones. Seems I might be in the minority though, haha.

The backpack is back in stock online! I just ordered it to be shipped to my local store. Hopefully it doesn't get delayed so I can use it on my boyfriend and I's trip later this month.
