Pony Corral / Re: Advice on straightening legs and unicorn horn
« on: March 26, 2012, 04:39:40 PM »
Boiling water makes dents and odd things like that pop right back out. But sometimes, I've found that ponies that were smooshed or squeezed just need to have their heads removed and they pop back out again. Though the boiling water helps.

If the ponies have chartruse hair, it might be better just heat them up with a blowdryer on hot and hold in place until the plastic cools. That works too. :)  For natural curls, cover with a paper towel and keep your hand over it to protect it. :)

Pony Brag Arena / Yay Brags! :D Set completer and a big grail!
« on: March 26, 2012, 04:32:37 PM »
I've gotten many ponies that I haven't bragged about. ;_; And sadly, I've forgotten which ones they were! ;__;  But anyhow, here is my recent brag!

I got a quasi-set completer... Surprise! I wanted to have the G1 characters that inspired Lauren Faust when creating MLP:FIM. Been collecting them for awhile, slowly. Got two in a swap. Now I have them all! n_n

Yay!

And here they all are!

And now for my BIIIIG brag!  If I stopped collecting now, I'd actually be pretty darn happy! I've been trying to obtain her for awhile, and I kept losing every auction. A few weeks ago, two of them were up, and I'd just gotten my new phone. I was at work and lost the first, but the second one was ending. I just randomly checked the last minute and bid... watched... and won! Then I cried a little. ;_;  But it's okay, I don't really regret it, because she's uber adorbable!  I love her to bits!

Today a friend and I hit up a McDonalds in search of Rainbow Dash and Cherilee, but they had fluttershy. So I figured I'd just buy two. When my friend opened hers, she was like "Oh there's a hairclip in here? What?" I looked and it was last years!  Pretty cool! But I really just want to finish my 2012 collection! ;_;

No offense, but why would anyone want that? I would feel horrible wiping my dirty shoes all over Fluttershy's face... T__T

I'd want it! But... I'd feel horrible wiping my feet on her. So... I'd just nicely display her somewhere. Hehehe.

I should figure out how to make something like that. o_o

Pony Corral / Re: What's the most you'll pay for a pony?
« on: March 25, 2012, 08:13:27 PM »
The most I've spent has been $80, on Mimic. Close to that for another pony on it's way, and I knew I overpaid but I just wanted her, darn it! :p But for most ponies, I honestly prefer to stay around $5-$15.

Pony Corral / Re: Some G1 character advice for an artist alley table!
« on: March 21, 2012, 06:21:40 PM »
Okay so...

G4:
Mane 6
:muffin: Pony
Dr. Hooves
Lyra
Luna
Bon Bon
Cherrilee
Spike

G1:
Firefly
Suprise
Sparkler
Twilight
Posey
(Applejack will be in the first group, lol)
Gusty
Glory
Moondancer
Medley
Fizzy
Mimic
Masquerade

I also figured out what I'll be making. I'm going to get a lot of things made, and whatever is left over I'll be selling it online. But I'll also reorder too, if it's popular.

Stuff I'm having made:
- Cellphone charms
- Sticker Sheets
- Buttons
- Posters perhaps, I need to do a good illustration.

Stuff I'm making myself:
- Magnets
- Individual  Character Stickers
- Bookmarks
- Keychains (plastic with picture and pewter keychains that I sculpted)

The stuff I'm making will likely include the G1 characters, aside from maybe some buttons.

I also might try to make some plushies to sell, but it may or may not happen in time.

Toys R Us has them too. I haven't seen them at Target at all, but I managed to find them there today!

Pony Corral / Some G1 character advice for an artist alley table!
« on: March 20, 2012, 06:08:21 PM »
I'm working on some material for an artist alley table at an anime convention. (You basically get a table to sell handmade goods) I'm mostly going to have pony stuff. I'm making stickers, magnets, bookmarks, pins, and keychains (possibly cellphone charms/earrings/necklaces and the like depending on the upfront cost).

Since most people there will be bronies, of course, I'll be doing the mane 6, :muffin: Pony, lyra, bon bon, trixie, big mac and dr. hooves, the CMC and Cheerilee.  I also want to make the G1 characters which inspired them, Firefly, Sparkler, Twilight, Suprise and Posey. But... I also wanted to toss in a few popular G1 characters just in case there are a few people who love older ponies. I was thinking of making my favorites like Gusty and Mimic, perhaps Masquerade, Glory, Moondancer, Medley?  Opinions? D;  I'm not sure entirely! What would your opinions be? I'm likely just going to put them on printable stickers or magnets for this convention though.

I thankfully am making a template to use for all these ponies so it won't kill me drawing them repeatedly! XD  Also, once done I might set up some adoptables here cause they are so freaking cute! :3

Ack, that's what I feared. Thanks for the quick response!

Yeah, I'm not sure if it's going to fade evenly... but what you can do is cover the symbols and eyes with the paint and try to fade the body evenly. But it really depends on the plastic, which there's no way to really tell until you try. :/

I recently came across a whole bunch of old childhood photos. But sadly, none of them involved ponies! ;_; I do have one extremely blurry black and white picture of me holding my favorite Popple! :p  I know I had some, but I haven't found the photos anywhere yet. I know my dad is cleaning out the attic and basement, so hopefully he'll discover them!

Advice needed: I have a G3 Snowflake who is lovely but was resting against a pony with chartruse hair and now has a big yellow stain on her body above her symbol. :(

Luckily it didn't touch the symbol itself! But... Snowflake is such a dark blue, I'm terrified to try sunfading. Even if I cover every portion of the pony except the big yellow spot... wouldn't they just mean that after the sunfading I'll have a big patch of light blue on her body, compared to the darker blue of the rest of her that I covered up?

Thanks for advice. Snowflake is such a lovely G3, I really want to return her to the pristine state I got her in.

That's likely what would end up happening. Though you could control how big and obvious that spot is going to be by using paint... but at the same time, it's going to lighten the plastic no matter what you do. :/

would it be safe to do on these ponies? and i think this is just what alpha needs! THANKS THANKS THANKS AGAIN!!!!!! I have to get moving some of the stuff off my window sill so i can finally start fading my ponies!  ^_^ <3 <3 <3

alpha has green highlighter eyes that go to her frecklels, and bridey has a yellow stain above her symbol.... just asking cuz i know cherrytreats likes to burn and i dont want any fried ponies.. :/

I would suggest covering up the entire pony, except for the area that's stained on those and paint around it. I've seen pictures of sunfading working fine on pink ponies. The light blue SHOULD be okay, but might fade entirely to white. Like I said above, the dark blue ponies are going to fade to a light blue. So you might not have yellow there anymore, but you might end up with lighter blue.  Though highlighter for some reason likes to fade out very quickly compared to how fast the plastic fades. So if it's highlighter, you might have a better chance with that, though I'm not entirely sure. (No blue ponies to experiment on!) Also make sure that you cover the purple pony very carefully... I'm finding with some ponies, their colors are a mix of different plastics and they like to fade weirdly. I have one purple pony I was fading that developed faint blue splotches everywhere on her body. But I could've controlled it better had I just covered everything except the stains.

The thing is, owning and operating cars gets expensive. Beyond just insurance, a second hand car is going to have a lot more problems than a new car. I've been there, done that. My first car was a $400 clunker, that while I took good care of it, it had a lot of issues. Thankfully my family was able to repair it and kept the costs down. But it was still pricey... even 8 years ago!

I eventually ended up selling my car and shared a car with my parents. Thankfully, my dad had his own car and my mom never drove. So I used her car most of the time.  When you get older, your insurance goes down by A LOT. Of course, doing things for you is important... is it something that you ABSOLUTELY need right now? Or is it out of desire to be like your friends and be able to go out and go places. It offers a lot of freedom, which is great. But with all that freedom is a lot of responsibility. Even if you are a great driver, there are a lot of people who are completely wreckless and careless.

I'm 30 right now and I do not have a car. I do however, have my license and insurance. I share a car with my husband and I'm saving for a down payment on a new car.  As much as I would have loved to drive as a teenager, I'm glad that I waited a short while, until I was 20 for the rate to go down substantially.

Of course things for yourself are more important that plastic toy ponies. So of course, selling them if you need money for something important is good. But just remember that you're going to keep shelling out money, and ponies are not going to fund it forever.  It's honestly best if you find a job, or find something creative you can do with your time to fund yourself (or both lol). I would honestly keep my most treasured and favorite ponies and sell the rest to fund something worthwhile, such as a car. That way, there's not much to regret. :)

Bumping this up because I added an addition: Fading stains out of a darker pony using paint! :D

They're all over the place around here. Most are on Lillyblossom and Applejack. But I checked one last night that still had Pinkie Pie and Rarity. o_O;  I'm missing Twilight and Fluttershy! ;-;
