For Trade / For UK people - Stranger Things Applejack Available
« on: July 30, 2019, 08:25:14 PM »
I know lots of collectors outside of the US are frustrated with trying to get ST Applejack.   I'm in Canada so I feel your pain with trying to get her without paying duty, shipping and eBay prices.

I just came back from the Tampa MLP Fair and found four of the ponies at a Target with the idea of helping UK people get her.   I am traveling to London the first week of September and can bring them with me.  I'm open to purchase or trades.  The only catch is that you would have to get her from me in London (Piccadilly area most likely)as I probably won't have the time to travel outside of the city to courier her to you.

PM me if you're interested.

I keep wondering if Hasbro finally realizes we're potential cash cows for G1 stuff but they have licensed out G1 style ponies to Basic Fun so now Hasbro is stuck to come up with these "retro" Frankenponies.     I do like them but they are far from true G1.

Anyone have any idea how much this thing goes for?

If you get Detolf shelves, be careful as they have been known to spontaneously shatter.

Whoa! Seriously? Yikes

It's not that it happens all the time but it's not unknown.  If you Google Detolf shelf shattering you'll see videos and photos come up.   Another MLP person on FB had it happen last week too.

Pony Corral / Re: Did anyone else not care about mlp as a kid?

I was four years old the year My Little Pony first started.   Ugh I feel old now.
Anyway I saw them and the commercials and thought they were silly.  Horses were my favourite animal ever since I saw the Black Stallion movie when I was three yet MLP I really hated.   I didn't like the proportions of them.  I wanted more realistic shaped horses.
It's all weird to me that I thought that since I had such a wild imagination and loved make believe and fantasy characters.

Then when I was around seven my grandmother took my shopping and let me pick out a toy.  I'd seen a Barnum and Bailey's TV special the night before with a "unicorn"..aka one horned goat.  I was obsessed with unicorns and wanted something to remember that "unicorn" I'd seen on TV.   So I picked out a MLP, Gusty.   There weren't any all white ponies, much to my disappointment but at least she had a white body like that "goat-icorn".   I also got the Best of the West outfit at the same time.

And with that I fell down the rabbit hole head over heels and still have that Gusty (sadly don't have the original outfit) and probably 600 other ponies.  I collect all generations, even a few 3.5's just for representation but G1 will always be my jam.

Then one day a non-pony friend asks me if I knew the name Kirk Hindman.  Turned out she and her husband have been good friends of his for years.  OMG WUT??    They told him about their pony crazy friend and he asked them to get a pony from me so he could sign it.   That didn't end up happening though, instead I got to meet him and his lovely wife and he signed Bubbles in person.  So i know them too.   It's such a funny, crazy small world sometimes.   To go from someone who hated MLP at a young child to where I am now.

Last year went to my first MLP Fair and went a bit crazy with nostalgia and shopping.   70 ponies is not extreme?  Noooo.....
Now onto this year's event in Tampa and the non-pony friend mentioned above is coming too.   They want to see what the MLP community is like and see their buddy Kirk in his element.  :D

Ok that was a lot longer that what I intended to write...   I hope no one is comatose.

Pony Corral / Re: Rare ponies on eBay?

Are there really sellers out there that think the condition of the collectables' packaging doesn't effect the value?

In the late 90s I saw a MOC Glory on eBay.  Her bubble had yellowed--not unusual.  So then I read the auction description.  Wherein the seller said "I wasn't sure if the pony was still white inside the package, so I opened it.  Yep, still pure white!"

I then died inside.

That is brutal.    I wanted to bang my head on my desk after reading that.   Nooooo!  Don't open the package!!!

For those wondering if the episode might inflate prices of ponies, has anyone noticed prices hike of other toys after their episodes?   I haven't really heard of anything from other fandoms.   We're probably safe.    I'm excited to see the episode as I've really enjoyed the others, even toys that I had no interest in.

As said before Gusty for Canada but her colours are also perfect for the Welsh flag.

I think my biggest issue with these two episodes was Luna and Celestia suddenly summoning the mane six and being all "Hey there.   I think we're gonna retire in a few days so yeah you guys can totally take over.  K? Thx."    That just seemed so out of character for them to just suddenly spring something like that.   It just felt weird (to me).

Hi Dava.
That's exciting to hear about your paper and that you've followed your dream career.   I remember reading that you were going that route near the end of KT's and glad to hear that you are still on that route.
I loved the KT's series and miss it but totally understandable with your career load.
Do you still have all those miniatures?  I used to marvel at all the amazing prop items you had.

Does the plastic of the flutter wings seem to be plain translucent instead of the borealis finish the originals had?   I'm not worried if the wings are the same breakable material as the originals since these ones would be for collecting rather than me playing with them, their wings will be very safe.

Pony Corral / Re: POTD 1/18/19 Pepperberry

I'll pass, she's never chimed with me. She just seems a bit unpleasant, what with the colours and maybe I'm being a philistine but do pepper and berries even belong together?!

Pepper and strawberries actually go really nicely together.  It brings out the berry flavour.  Also good with a balsamic reduction drizzled over the berries.

She's one of my fav G3s with her rich colours.  I remember back when she came out with her deep colours, matte finish and had packaging different than we were all used to, that that it was questioned for awhile as to whether she was even a real MLP.
