There are no guarantees that you'll receive positive feedback even if you pay the return shipping, as a seller myself, i would probably just give her a refund and let her keep the pony... honestly no matter what you do, she's probably not going to be happy, some people are just harder to deal with than others. I'm terrified every time we sell a pony on ebay just because we're not serious long time collectors, so the flaws that collectors look for aren't things that we think to check for, we just try to take as many pictures as possible and state what we notice and cross our fingers and hope for the best.

Ebay putting so much weight on a brand new system that both buyers and sellers don't really understand is just silly.

In most places, a 4-star rating is still a really good rating! But on ebay anything less than 5 stars is awful. I dont get it, ebay.

I completely agree, it doesn't make sense, but that's how ebay is...
We've had a few problems with how ebay handles things both from a selling and a buying standpoint, I'm really thankful that we've found the MLParena, at least for our pony purchases, everyone here is so wonderful and communicates well. It's such a breath of fresh air.

Leaving a star rating helps the seller maintain their top seller status, if all fo your sales in a 3 month period didn't leave you any stars then you'd drop off the top seller list which would also affect whether you're bronze or higher for discounted seller fees... We actually have a problem with ebay right now because 1 person left us a low rating for communication (which is silly because we probably send 2-3 messages once the purchase is made and then contact after the item is received, so we definitely have good commuincation) but anyways... because of that we have limits on us for certain categories of items... I called and spoke with a rep and she explained the whole thing and how it was based on the star system, we've had well over 110 sales since September 2012, yet we've only had 50% leave us feedback ans stars, and in the last 3 months, of the say 25+ sales, we've maybe gotten ffedback and stars 3 times...

Buyers who aren't familiar with selling, and even sellers who just dabble in selling don't realize how important the star system is... it's on the same page as the feedback and takes like 3 seconds to click them, we're honest when we fill them out for others, we usually leave 5 stars... even then if we have a problem, we'll contact the seller before doing anything else...

So to answer the question... although 5 star ratings don't directly affect the cost of a product, it does affect the seller and if they lose their discount then chances are they will raise their prices to make up the difference which in turn would affect the buyer...

Off Topic / Re: Any Painters Here?
« on: July 11, 2013, 10:49:39 PM »
I love painting... it's actually what mine and my husbands business is centred around... everything from canvas to wood to ponies to just about anything... I use acrylics, it's my fav to use, sometimes I lightly sketch out what I'm going to paint, and other times I just go for it...
here's a link to our store so you see my paintings...

Hmmm... I would have to say Final Fantasy VII or Kingdom Hearts... I love RPG and the stories, characters and graphics are always so wonderful... I used to be able to spend hours getting lost in those games...

Off Topic / Re: What Horror Films Do You Like To Watch???
« on: July 11, 2013, 12:30:25 PM »
I love horror films... As a child of the 80's I have a huge appreciation for the times when movies were less about the gore and more about the suspense...

Some of my older fav's include....
-The entire Halloween series (I even loved the Rob Zombie remakes)
-The Shining
-The Exorcist ( I didn't see that until about 8 years ago, but I couldn't sleep for a good 3 weeks after lol)
-The original Nightmare on Elm Street
-Friday the 13th Part One
-Dolls (I was 7 when I saw this and I truly believed my toys were out to get me, so into a trashbag they went and stayed outside lol)
-Children of the Corn (the original)

Newer fav's include...
-The Human Centipede (Completely messed up but well done, the sequel however almost had me and hubby throwing up)
-Saw
-Silent Hill 1 & 2
-Wrong Turn 4
-Paranormal Activity 1-3 (I really didn't care for 4)
-The Skeleton Key

I'm sure there are tons more, but I just can't think of the names, mainly because I've seen so many lol...

I think it was 2008... in any event she`s gorgeous :) I love the other one too because of the colours you used, but there`s just something about that UK pony I don`t have that makes me wanna beg my hubby to buy me yours even though I know we can`t afford it lol
All of your customs are amazing... I love the patterns you do

Customs / RetroDollsUS Hair finally came in!!!! Stoked :)
« on: July 10, 2013, 10:50:01 AM »
OMG soooo excited, I've been doing customs for a few weeks, but only painting and styling their current hair, now I can finally start really doing customs, including rehairing them! Can't wait!!! Not to mention that I have a huge army of ponies just waiting to be customized, purchased from some MLParena sellers... I think there's like 50+ and that's just what came in today lol.... Wish me luck :)

A huge thank you to everyone for your honest feedback on my customs. I can't wait for my supplies to come in so I can start rehairing and really getting into it... I love the designs I've done thus far and since i can't rehair yet, I try my best to work with what I have which I believe turns out fairly decent lol.... I love making customs though, I find it quite relaxing and I look forward to seeking more advice and critiques as my craft continues to grow :)
