The Dollhouse / Re: Can I restore the hair?
« on: July 08, 2013, 10:04:08 PM »
I agree with the above statements about it being a walker doll, and as mentioned above are expensive to fix. They can be fragile as the plastic has aged and depending on how much they were played with. My mother has one and her arm is broken and we have it taped to the body under usually 3/4 sleeves or full sleeve dresses. My mom's dolls hair is in the same condition (not pretty and frazzled and in some places thinning) after all these years. My solution to her ugly hair issue was to get a child's Halloween wig. I put her in a Cinderella wig from the Disney store years ago. I undid the roll on it so she has long hair and usually with a headband. It's not necessarily the style of the doll of course, but it made my mother happy. Depending on how authentic your friend wants the doll to be vintage clothing and accessories could be scouted out. The doll also can fit in toddler clothes and tights (I forget what size) but that also is an option to make it look nice. My mom has a few recent outfits for her now, and she has a few Halloween costumes for her as well. She also puts her in some old dresses that I had when I was a little kid that she had stashed away in a cedar chest.

Off Topic / Re: Trading Cards
« on: June 30, 2013, 05:35:26 PM »
I have a lot of different ones, mostly Disney. My brother was into baseball cards when I was a kid and so I used to get a couple packs when we would go to the little shows at the mall. I remember photocopying the check of list that would be in some baseball card magazine my brother had for a few of the Disney sets. I have a complete set of Little Mermaid (including the rare Sponge Cards and promotional card) and Beauty & The Beast. I have a mostly complete set of Pocahontas (except the ultra rare foil cards, I'm missing 2 or 3). I also have Lion King sets, a Cinderella and I think Aladdin (can't remember).  In addition to those I have Sailor Moon trading cards (also playing cards decks) and Sailor Moon trading stickers (I guess you'd call them that).

The Dollhouse / Re: When did Ken get so fashionable?
« on: June 26, 2013, 07:51:09 PM »
My vote would go to the ONLY Ken doll I had as a kid "California Dream" Ken.  My poor Barbies, they always got dressed up so nice to go on a date and Ken always showed up like this. (you can't see it in the picture, but his tie has a fish sticker on it)

And we can add this one from the 90's to Ken's fashionable moments "Earring Magic" Ken.

That LE Ariel! Be still my beating heart! Anyone know how much they'll be selling her for?

USD99.95.

This is what I read: TWO BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS!! Thank you Charles Reagan & Jonatan Castillo! In July, there will be a presale of LE Ariel Limited of 5000 and LE Ursula LE of 2000. Both will retail for $99.95!
Additionally, there will also be a LE set of dolls called DFDC Dolls also known as Disney Fairy tale Designer Couples. These couples include: Snow White, Beauty & the Beast, Tangled, Little Mermaid, and Aladdin! These "sets" of couples will retail for $129.95, or you can preorder the entire set for 649.75!

Ugh! WHY must they always be so expensive. I can't be the only one here who thinks a $100+ is a lot for a plastic doll. I know a lot of us have them (guilty), but geez. It seems to be becoming a repeating theme. I would LOVE to have a number of the dolls, but the price is too much to keep up with.

Only problem is once I open the flood gates of doll collecting...I'll want one of every character or something Hah!

And THAT is so the truth on how it works too! Run now while you still can. :)

In regards to "I would DIE for a pack of Ariel and all of her sisters. Do you know if this has ever been made??"

Tyco made her sister Arista. Mattel made an Arista, and Attina.  A number of years ago, the Disney Store actually sold Ariel and all of her sisters as "dolls" but they were very awkward in proportions and appearance and were more like hand held toys than true dolls. More recently there was a 3 pack bath set with Ariel, Arista and Alana.

*UPDATE* I JUST found this on Toys R Us website:
Disney Princess Favorite Moments Mermaid Doll 7-Pack (they look like plastic figures not dolls, and Attina & Alana's names are switched)

I have a couple Little Mermaid ones that were made by Disney, but they are all boxed away in storage at my parents and are inaccessible at the moment.

I found almost all the single packs at my Target today. They had 8 Barbies, 2 Raquelle, 2 Midge, 1 Summer & 1 Teresa. So it makes me wonder if the "friends" will be short packed. I happened to go into another Target later in the day in a city a few towns over and they only had 6 Barbie's and no friends on the shelf.

For me locally, Target seems to be the only one carrying them so far. (and if you were curious, yes, I couldn't help myself and bought 1 of each of the friends.) That being said though, I did notice two different lipstick shades on the Raquelle dolls. One was very shimmery and a deeper purplish/pinkish color, and the one I bought had more of a cooler pink shade of lipstick without the shimmer.

Good to know, but kind of a bummer in some ways. Those miniature dolls look nothing like her sisters, they could have at least tried with their hair. The other thing is that the other TLM dolls in that set have been out for a couple years now. So you have to figure that it will probably be at least a$50 dollar set to get ONE new doll (for anyone that has the others). I hope they release Vanessa separately, but I won't get my hopes up. Last year it was Cinderella as the big dvd release, and the Deluxe set had Lady Tremain (Step-mom) and Anastasia & Drizella (Step-sisters) as the special ones in the box along with the other 3 dolls that had already been released (Cinderella, Charming, Fairy Godmother).

Those are some great collections. I liked the She-ra cartoon when I was a kid, but I only had one She-ra item, a coloring book.

Sounds like you have Montgomery Moose. No idea if anyone here collects them, but there is Get Along Gang stuff listed on Etsy as well as ebay.

The Amazon-looking one could be Teela from the He-man line.

My thoughts too. Here is a picture of the Teela action figure.

Ooo plush? Pics would be nice to see.

We have lots of plush. My husband (go figure) has lots of plush, especially disney ones.
Over the years we have donated some, as well as bought some on ebay. It all depends on what you have and what you want to do with them, and of course the condition.

The Dollhouse / Re: ID help please? Doll accessories (Barbie?)

Something to mention here is that in the Barbie world, a lot of food items/molds get reused across various sets in years close together. So some items may have been present in several sets (referring to the food and serving dishes). That orange bottle of soda was used in a number of sets, so it could have come from any of them. Same goes for the barbeque poker thing in Pic 4.

Pic 1: I can't quite tell clearly from your picture, but I believe the silver trophy in pic 1 is from the "Super Star Barbie Piano Concert Playset"

Pic 2: The medal and 3 colored ribbons on the little elastic band are from "Gymnast Barbie"

Pic 4 & 5: Some of these items I believe came from the "Sweet Roses" kitchen furniture sets.

Okay I found  a slighlty better picture of the stove/oven that shows the pots & pans
