Pony Corral / Re: what are your collecting idiosyncrasies?

I prefer G1s and G2s, and mostly buy them in lots as I like looking at each pony as a fun 'project' to fix up - and you also get some surprises! I also buy them in worse shape as they're cheaper....

Pony Corral / Re: Your first pony
« on: May 27, 2016, 02:29:49 AM »
For my fifth or sixth  birthday I received the G3 pony, Star Catcher, and that was a pretty amazing day. I'd been expecting a pony, as I'd climbed to the top of the wardrobe in my parent's room to try and see what I was getting and saw a pony box, but never expected that it would be the more-expensive Star Catcher with her adorable DVD! I opened her in the car as we drove to my party and I can remember putting her in the bit behind the back seat where the window is so she could look out and see the road! At my party I received Thistle Whistle, Blossomforth and Spring Fever in quick succession but Star Catcher will always be special to me as my first <3
She is a pretty ivory colour now and her wings have visible stitch marks from my first time sewing - trying to repair her wings at age 7 or 8, but to me she still looks amazing!

Hm, let's see...

G1: I'm a young one, so I wasn't yet alive when G1 existed in stores. I did find the Dream Valley website at age >10 however, and would literally spend hours admiring and memorising the G1s. They were like soe kind of vast, unreachable treasure to me, as they all looked so different and amazing. Even today I'm in such awe of them that I could never customise a G1 - and I kinda cringe slightly when I see others doing so. To me, they're these amazing treasures.

G2: It started the year I was born, but I was unaware they existed in my childhood and thus only discovered them (again) on Dream Valley and liked how many little acessories they came with. I thought they were so elegant and dainty when I saw owners photos of them, and was amazed by their colour palette and increasingly questionable naming schemes. To this day they are my favourite generation <3

G3: The generation I grew up with, my first pony was Star Catcher and I got her on my 5th or 6th birthday, from memory, quickly followed by Thistle Whistle, Blossomforth and Spring Fever. I spent all of my pocket money on them, and soon amassed a collection of 40-50ish I don't actively seek them out, but I still love them for the nostalgia value they have for me!

G3.5: I hated the lack of new characters and in general how odd they looked so I only own one who came in a lot....

G4: Again, I dislike the repeating characters and how un- dynamic the poses are. They're also too small and hard :(

Pony Corral / Re: Your ponies are alive : what do you do?

Probably ask them about their history, tbh!Hopefully my childhood ponies and the new arrivals wouldn't clash... Also my Euro exclusive G2s most likely wouldn't speak english so language barrier 0.0 I'd also immediately have to rush my single sea pony to some water so she wouldn't dry out from being on my desk...

The most common Novi you have there is Ali, followed by Una, who is ever so slightly more pricey. I wouldn't say more than $15 for them (although I'm referring to the aussie dollar here!). Ann is much harder to find, she's in the $45ish price range from memory?

I have a Sweetsteps Posey Rose who has a rather extravagant face of makeup - neon purple eye shadow and equally bright pink lipstick! I've always suspected that it's that pony makeup that the later G1s were packaged with at some point..

Pony Corral / Re: Plumsweet's crumbling hair
« on: May 24, 2016, 04:34:00 AM »
Some of the other G3s had this hair problem besides just the Avon ponies.  If I recall correctly, some of the TRU exclusive sets also had terrible hair problems....

Princess Peppermint's hair comes to mind - it's white but it has the same problems as the light pinks that disintegrate.

My G3 Blossomforth (the version that came with Spring Fever), who was one of the first ponies in my childhoood collection, had this problem - her hair crumbled and fell out entirely!

This is $10 USD, right?

Wanted! / Re: Wanted: Zelf from Australia. Any Aussies here?
« on: April 22, 2016, 07:10:13 AM »
I'm Australian! The only problem is that I'm also looking for Mary for my own collection.... If I ever manage to find two (let alone one!) I'll let you know :) Sorry I'm not too much help though...

I'm interested in Princess Silver Swirl, but I have no clue what to offer for her...  :|

Twilight Sparkle
Rarity
Rainbow Dash
Pinkie Pie
Fluttershy
Applejack

Sweetie Belle (1st ed. with forelock)
Blossomforth
Cheerilee (1st ed. with forelock)

Price Check Archives / Re: Price check for some G2, G3 and G4 pony's
« on: April 21, 2016, 07:22:26 PM »
If you want somebody to take those two G2s off your hands, I'd be happy to oblige XD

The baby is Baby Honeyberry and the adult is Wing Song, who looks to go for anywhere from $5-10 depending on her condition. Baby Honeyberry is more difficult - I can't seem to find a consistent price for her non-MIB :/

Have you seen the page that their creator did about them? It's very interesting to read :)

Pony Corral / Re: Has anyone else seen this Australian G1 DVD?
« on: April 06, 2016, 06:57:16 AM »
I own this one too! Even though some of the ponies have their colours a bit funky, it was too cute to pass up - plus the G1 show was my childhood (renting the DVDs at Blockbuster every Friday :inlove: )
