Will there be a "Toy Fair 2012" thread please, with a link to all the pics? 'Cause it's getting very difficult to follow this. Not to mention the stress it must put on the mods to keep everything in check LOL
I am sure there will be, once someone actually has a link to decent pictures. 
I too kinda wondered about them not showing up on taobao first... especially the prince and princess set (as we have known about them for a tiny bit now).

Yeah but don't you see what a huuuge step for Hasbro that is! They were not even ACKNOWLEDGING the collector/brony part of their fanbase before, and now to cater to them? That's incredible. It demonstrated that we really DO have a voice, and if we keep showing the demand for certain products (like boys) we have a shot at getting them!
I don't know that it's fair to say Hasbro wasn't acknowledging us before - they DID host last year's MLP Fair and they've been providing con exclusives that are specifically targeted to the collector community for years. Toys that reflect the show are just another aspect of their awareness of the collector community.
I'm actually most excited about the Zecora toy out of these. She's certainly a major enough character to have her own toy, and she's an awesome character.

That's very true It's just rarely have we ever seen mass-marketed toys like this end up on the shelves. Like you said the closest nod we had before was the fair and the fair exclusive, which were available to a very limited number of people. It's just super nice to get an ever bigger and more public "hey you exist" nod. I looove that Zecora will be glow in the dark as well, I think it's fitting for her mysterious persona.

These look awesome, and I'm all for more toys of characters from the show (and the accurately-colored Celestia), but does anybody else kinda feel like these are basically just catering to the brony side of the fanbase?
I mean, a lot of these characters (the DJ, Nightmare Moon, etc.) have been done as customs hundreds of times. It almost feels like they're only going with what they think will sell to the bronies.

And now that I look more closely, I am really happy to see the dark blue and yellow pony. Finally some different colors! And I think the pink pony has green hair? I am not a big fan of Salvation Army either. I will never donate to them and I only shop at their thrift stores reluctantly. I prefer Savers but when it comes to toys at thrift stores you can only find what you find and if Savers is a bust that day but Salvation Army has something I collect I'm gonna buy it. But at least I don't feel guilty if I find a rare Pixietail in a G3 pony's hair and only pay .50 for the both of them.
The only way I can justify shopping there is that I'm rescuing them from their evil clutches  I've actually never been to one. Is there any pet food you guys recommend, since there seem to be so many who use gross byproduct?

I think Lily Blossom is likely an attempt to appease the bronies with a pseudo  Pony. I dunno though, they kind of look...the same to me. Like their poses are altered just a tiny bit and otherwise they're the exact same as before. In fact I don't think Applejack's pose changed at all, or Cheeriliee's. They just have key chains now. I think this time I'll try and contain myself and just wait for loads of them to inevitably show up at the thrift store.

I've been in awe of this thing for a while. I imagine as it becomes more widely available it's gonna be a huuge problem as far as copyright infringement goes.
