I couldn't find the wires for my scanner so I bought a new one!
Gusty and Feathermay are trying to lift up Autumn Skye but she isn't like it too much lol.

I attempted drawing them in their generation art style  :P

I honestly cannot draw ponies sitting down, I had a fun time googling poses XD
Gusty can hardly been seen! :lookround:

That's a good thing you drew her sitting down, it's perfect for practice then to have given up on it.
I LOVE what you did to Autumn Skye's hair, I wish I would have drawn her hair like that, it's so her.

That is adorable! Yet I feel so sorry for Autumn Skye, poor thing  :silly:
Honestly the detail and shading...its...its..AMAZING!  :whoa: You've done such a beautiful job!

I really can't draw pony legs so I've made it my mission to practice over and over till I get the hang of it, drawing them in different positions and in different generation styles. Why must legs be so painful to draw
I kinda got lazy with Autumn Skye's hair, usually I'd draw it piece by piece like the G3 style but the ipad was dying and I hadn't saved my work   ^^; I kinda made it messy as I thought wind swept hair would be suitable for her

But thank you so much for your kind words!

Sounds fun!

For yarn hair, you'll have to use the tool method for rehairing. Note however that G2s are notoriously difficult to rehair, their heads are hard so it's likely you'll break some needles. (I'm not completely sure if you can rehair them with yarn, but don't let me discourage you from trying!) It may help if you warm up the head first to soften it a bit - keep a mug of hot water at hand and dip the head in every now and then.

Acrylic paints are the best (for both symbols and full body repaints). It doesn't really matter whether you use cheaper craft acrylics or artist grade acrylics. Invest in good brushes, though. For detailed work, long-bristled liner brushes are usually a good choice. The Army Painter has some good detail brushes, and some people use nail art brushes.

The consistency of paint varies a bit from brand to brand and even by colour, some colours may need no thinning at all, others you'll have to thin with water. Practice on paper, cardboard or some plastic surface first, to check you have the right consistency of paint (not runny, but it should flow easily) and to train your hand. Painting on a pony is quite different from painting on canvas or other flat surface, but you'll soon get the hang of it! Don't be afraid to start over. If you make a mistake, immediately wipe with water, or use acetone if the paint has already dried.

Best of luck! :art:

Thank you so much for the advice! :good:

I'm gonna take a look at the method to refresh my memory as I tend to forget easily ^^;
Luckily we have a lot of sewing needles in the house since me and my mother tend to sew a lot so I don't mind using a few if they break!
Ah, okay, luckily the yarn I've bought is quite cheap so if it doesn't work then that's okay  :hope: I can buy nylon hair from eBay or My Little Customs if the worst comes to the worst.
That hot water method sounds like a good idea, I'll definitely use it when I begin my project.

Luckily my sister is an art student so she has plenty of supplies, I'll have to take a look  I'll make sure to practice with the paint too, since its my first I don't mind if its messy just as long as it looks presentable haha.

Honestly, thank you again for your advice and I'll be sure to give all your tips a go!

Welcome to the arena! Generation 1's TV series is definitely awesome! I like the movie best if I'm honest  :good:

Restoration is fun, but can be tough if the damage is major  :( but everyone on the forums is here to help if you need any!

Spring carnival's colours are absolutely gorgeous and it sounds like your getting some great G1 babies to start off your collection and I hope it continues to grow! (Do you have a favourite pony?)

I'll see you in the forums!  :hope:

So many great ponies this month! I'm definitely getting something started for this soon! I love how cozy the pictures submitted so far are!

Sapphire Rain: Super cute! I love their fall wear, I may have to borrow the ponies in sweaters concept. :P It's precious!
StrawberrySundance: Adorable! I love how they're all settled in with their hot cocoa :) It's also neat how you incorporated elements of each generation's style for each pony, but it's still distinctively your own at the same time!

Thank you!
I honestly love drawing in G3 style, it's sorta satisfying (?) Haha.

Customs / Custom tips for a newbie? (Super silly question, I'm sorry!)
« on: October 04, 2018, 02:24:54 PM »
I really hope I'm posting in the correct area for this  :lookround:

I just purchased a bait G2 pony from eBay as I have an itch to get creative and make a custom. I know the basics of rerooting a pony and I've decided to use yarn for her mane and tail as its most suited to her hair style. So...I would like to know has anyone got any tips? What's the best paint/product to use for painting a symbol on? (Her symbol is going to be very basic/simple)

Thank you in advance! ^.^

Ooooh! This is going to be interesting!
I'll sketch out a different design so it looks more like a changeling rather than a pony and work from there! I'll let you know when I'm finished!

A huge charity shop recently opened near my house and so on Sunday I decided to have a little look around.

In the toy section, hidden in the corner behind all the other toys I spotted this lovely lady :lovey:

Thank you for the advice!  ^.^

Ah yes, we did a little on routine today such as nap time, lunch, story time etc and the specific requirements and needs. Hopefully the nurserys I go into will have a set routine I can learn and follow.

Ooooh! A mini challenge!

A task for me would be to complete one of the games from the Ratchet and Clank series. I've got them all but they just sit there on my shelf, I really want to play those again and complete the series, so this week I'll make my task to restart from the first game and complete it by next wednesday   :yippee:
Not a very exciting challenge but with all my preparation for GCSEs back in 2017/May this year I abandoned most of my games Still have Grim Fandango and Psychonauts to complete too!

@Crowning_Glory13
Your injury sounds painful, yikes! I hope you're okay and that your foot heals/is fixed soon!

I've got my first work placements in nurserys very soon (end of October) and I'm very nervous so I've made a little side challenge to go along with my studying, I need to prepare and not let my anxiety take over! I'm going to practice tasks that I'd have in my placement, go over our work from today (had to bath a dolly today! XD) and prepare myself, knowing the child's needs, how to handle tasks etc. And hopefully get in contact with my brother's childminder to see if I can go over and observe/learn some more from her  :)
