Put it this way, ALL ponies are recolors, technically, I never watching too much of the old cartoons, but didn't they all have the same generic mane/tail designs anyway with just different cutie marks, colors, and voices? Same with the toys honestly, unless they make a unique mold for every single pony, they'll always be recolors, regardless of 1 mane color or 6.
Back than it didn't really feel like a "recolor" to me (and it still doesn't). It was just how ponies looked. These days, with characters having more unique hair styles and eyes, it's a lot more obvious when they decided to be lazy with the art work.
During G1 and G2 there was also "hand drawn" art. These days it's a lot more "copy paste" vector stuff.
Yeah, you're right. Let me reword it a bit then: they should at least release the recurring minor/background characters that are'nt just color swaps of each other. For example: Flitter, Cloudchaser, Thunderlane, Big Mac, the spa sisters, Photo Finish, the Cakes, etc. (+ Bon Bon for me, haha) I kinda liked what they did with Blossomforth; she got a role in an episode. At least they should give the toy ponies some background time to incorporate them more.

Yeah! I'm so happy Hasbro are finally making characters from the show!
These would be beautiful as brushables too!
I second this! I wonder why they seem to hesitate on releasing more in-show background ponies as brushables. They have a much better marketability. What kids see in the show is more likely to sell, since it is more recognizable and seems more "legit" than just a random recolor. I also wonder if they would have ever released background characters without voices, like Lyra Heartstrings, if it wouldn't have been for the vocal FiM fans... PS: I so would love to have a Bon Bon brushie! C'mon, they just have to make a Bon Bon to accompany Lyra

Epic thread is epic. Thank you for all those hilariously bad images! I always wonder how people like this even get jobs! I'm in the industry myself and got rejected a few times for not being able to draw as closely to the style guide as possible and this hack here just lazily traces a few stock artworks, flips them around a few times and tadaa - the job is done. Can I please be hired by the same people who hired this artist? visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Oh! Ohhh! *__* The Spa Ponies are amongst my favorite background characters. Here's hoping her sister will also be made. Awesome! That would be so sweet. At a guess they'll make a minifigure pack for each of the Mane Six, and we've got AJ, Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle already. This one is probably Rarity.
So, what do you think we'll get for Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie? Mr and Mrs Cake?
We'll get Iron Will and Angel 
Ick! No not Iron Will D: If he is in the set then I'll be sure not to get it. They my do Photo Finish though or some random character because I don't think there was many other pony sub-characters Fluttershy interacted with... Where as Pinkie at least has the Cakes and the twins (though I really hope they don't do the twins... I didn't like how newborn/baby ponies were drawn x.x)

Heyyyy, Iron Will was amazing! But I think they'd hardly release a mini figure of him. Photo Finish would be great! Can't really think of a set completer... maybe one of PF's assistants? For Pinkie, I also vote for the Cakes and agree that the newborns don't look that good and would probably make bad mini figs anyway. Too small *g*

i need to make a not-gross-zombie-pony one day. but i can totally relate, this mix is really adorable.
the customs here look great! my favorite is charly(?) the one you can look throught. ^^
Just link to the pictures and put a little warning at the top of your rpost, so people can decide if they want to click on the links or not? I'd looooove to see your gross zombies! I just don't know what's too harsh for this board and what's not, since even asterisk-censored swear words often get deleted by admins  I'm really enjoying this thread so far! Gosh, especially PrincessOfDarkness! Thanks for contributing so many lovely ponies!  The green frankie has got to be my favorite. Applying all those stitches must have been one hell of a job!

Hey guys! I have a confession to make: I love macabre/dark pony customs. I'm talking zombies, ghouls, frankensteins, vampires, and whatever dark fantasy you can come up with! I especially like them if they still have a cutesy/kitschy theme going on. One of my favorite customizers in that regard is eponyart, but I also love the more gruesome-looking ponies BlackAngel-Diana makes! Feel free to post scary ponies you customized, bought or have seen elsewhere (but make sure to include the original customizer's name and/or link) Oh, one final word on gore: please do not insert images of too disturbing/violent-looking customs in order not to gross out our fellow board members. I'd totally customize it in a MLP/Steampunk way and have steampunky customs of G4 Pegasi manning (more like "maring"?) it! I really like G4 + Steampunk, just becaue I think it fits the style of the franchise better than hightech. No matter what you do with it: I think making it pony-themed is much more original than GI Joe. And I'm not saying that as a Pony-Fan but as a friend of "girl franchise meets boy franchise"-stuff
