I liked them, I just didn't really connect with them because I was 20 when they came out. I do have a few I regret parting with now though. I had bought them in stores when they came out. I don't regret parting with any iteration of Moon Shadow though. Even brand new I couldn't find one where her movable parts matched the rest of her body and it drove me bonkers especially because I loved her color scheme and symbol so much. I'm currently working on a G1 custom of her.

That's awesome! I'd love to hear about why these misfits (in the pony collecting universe) are your favorite set! Is there a story, or do you just like them? I know why I dislike the BBEs at least, and it's not just because they look kinda weird, it's specifically because I had one as a child, baby Half Note, and if you took my mother's best friend's (at the time) annoying and clingy daughter who I always had to "babysit" and humor because she was 2 years younger. That pony looked like her after she got into her mom's eyeshadow one day. So she was always the "evil one" when I played ponies.  Oh passive-aggressive 7 year old drama!

I only have a few nirvana's which aren't exactly rare nor expensive, just European versions of common ponies. What I'd like to get is a Nirvana which is actually hard to come by. Realistically I'm aiming for something European since I live in Europe and prefer not having to pay expensive import custom fees.
The German flower pony Snowdrop is about half what she was a few years ago, and there are two on ebay. I got one in slightly worse condition for GBP 12.50, I just lowball bid. So that might be a good place to start, they're lovely.

visitors can't see pics , please register or loginGlow was an extremely matted Tropical Breeze, rerooted in Dollyhair's Lapis Sapphire, Electric Banana, and a bunch of other things (I think there's some Forget me not and some Sea Nymph in there, just a plug or two, to create more of a gradient between the dark blue and the neon color). Replacement wings from StarLight Studio. She was inspired by a weird combination of things, these two fakies I used to have (one was the "flutter" style mold, the other had similarly colored hair, you know the weird fancy pants fakies with the smaller eyes) and a modified version of Nightlight's symbol. Symbols are just cut-out vinyl. Because it seemed easier than trying to paint opaque white on a medium blue pony. You can barely even tell. So from a mess to the crown jewel of my flutter collection...once I get her hair more properly sorted out, in just a few days.

Did I miss something in the last few years of collecting? Did all the Moon Dreamers collectors just form a tight knit community and leave eBay behind? Why are the ones on eBay these past few months just really ratty? And why, between all the auctions I have looked at since Christmas, were there like...5 shoes among all of them?

I am actually fairly annoyed because I recently bought a nude Angel Cake off eBay, because I wanted the headdress mostly, and the seller was billing her has "long hair version". She seemed too nice and clean to have been just found that way, and now it's clear that the seller just sold me one of these that they stripped the clothing off.

I'd like to get some more "similar alternates" of some of the first three years of ponies. Not the drastic "oh hey, Sparkler is bright pink with neon pink hair now" kind, more the kind where you can tell they were just having trouble discerning what was going on in the illustrations.
I'd like to rebuy the nirvanas I sold when I was moving a few years ago, hopefully in better condition. Italian Twilight, Brazilian shy pose Gusty and the yellow-haired Butterscotch especially.
And then constant wishlist ponies like Brazilian baby Lofty, and Brazilian CP Gusty (or actually any of the Brazilian Gusties). Any and all alternate birthflower ponies. But let's face it, I'll probably end up just going custom mode on those.
And finally...I would really like the Argie Alitas alternate of Whirly. I think she would look awesome paired with Wind Drifter. There's a wingless wonder on eBay right now that I'm keeping my eye on if she's still there when I get desperate.
