Pony Corral / Re: Favorite G1 Rainbow Pony? :D
« on: November 18, 2015, 03:20:07 PM »
Sunlight!  ^.^
I'm a sucker for the shy pose & she's such a lovely shade of blue. She's the only rainbow pony I currently own, although I'd like to get hold of the unicorns too.
Design-wise, I also love Starshine & Skydancer, but I'm not a huge fan of that pose.

Her colour scheme's lovely, but I'm not sure about her symbol.
I'm not a huge fan of the changing hair ponies, but I definitely wouldn't pass her up if I found her. :)

Want! She's one of my favourite baby ponies.  :lovey:
I love her colour combo & night-time theme.

Pony Corral / Re: Favorite pony (or other character!) from each Generation?
« on: September 27, 2015, 03:17:38 PM »
G1: Toywise, Glory & Surprise.
Character-wise, I've always loved Paradise in the cartoons; she has such a lovely voice & is a daydreaming bookworm like me.  ^.^ Surprise is a close second.

G2: Toywise, Copper Glow: that gorgeous colour combination is so striking. Princess Crystal too, as she was a childhood favourite.
Character-wise, Sun Sparkle/Sundance. I love her adventurous personality. Moonshadow really appeals to me as well. In the magazines, she always came out to play at night when the other ponies were fast asleep.

G3: It's a three-way tie between Butterscotch, Autumn Skye & Wishawhirl. There are so many stunning designs & colour schemes that it's difficult to narrow my favourites down.  :lovey:
I have a huge soft spot for Denim Blue & Cherry Blossom too.

G4: I don't care for the toyline, but I'd probably pick Lily Blossom & Honeybuzz as my favourites of the bunch.
Character-wise, I adore Applejack.

It always amuses me that Crumpet was never sold in the UK.
I need her in my life; she looks so buttery & gorgeous.

G1 had the most appealing babies, IMO. Their proportions are perfect & they have such endearing faces, without looking forced. The poses are adorable too. Who could resist a little candy-coloured equine with their head raised curiously, or crouched ready to play?  ^.^
G1 also wins for its Wingers (those delicate little butterfly wings & weather/flying critter designs are a match made in Heaven) & its variety of colours & poses.
It's difficult to imagine a grey mare being produced in any other generation.
The only thing I think G1 did worst was its plushies; they've always looked really odd to me.

Having grown up with G2, I adore it, but the over-abundance of pink always bothered me.
However, the later lines seemed to experiment more with bold colour schemes & quirky symbols. We ended up getting beauties like Copper Glow, Princess Crystal, Seabreeze, Water lily & Snowball, to name a few.
So G2 wins points for pushing the design boundaries. I also like their logo & plush range best. Those beanies are so precious.
Props for creating the first winged unicorns too, although personally I would have preferred to see molded wings, rather than clip-on.

I adore G3: the variety of poses, colours & designs were all spot-on.
There are some really striking colour combinations: Wishawhirl, Garden Glade, Citrus Sweetheart, Denim Blue & Applejack are some of the ponies that spring to mind.
Methinks G3 had the best boxart; Ponyville looks like such an idyllic, inviting place to live, & the character profiles for each pony are a really nice touch.
However, I've never been a fan of their baby ponies; they have such bizarre anatomy & look... stumpy.

G3.5... let's not go there.

I'm not a fan of the G4 toyline at all. The style just doesn't seem to translate very well from cartoon to 3D.
The range of non-show characters they produced in the early days was promising, but now they've resorted to churning out endless clones of the Mane Six with slightly different features each time.
I've also found most of their gimmicks to be trashy & ugly, particularly when they spatter the ponies with random decals. The complete lack of quality control is the most off-putting thing of all.
It also looks really lazy when they slap the same old vectors on every single piece of merchandise.
After that rant, I will say that G4 Pegasus wings look the best out of all gens, IMO. They're actually very nicely molded, & I like the way they stand out from the body, making the species more unique.

Pony Corral / Re: Who are your favorite Wingers? Choose 2
« on: August 15, 2015, 03:19:18 PM »
Wingers are the most precious little things; the first time I held one in my hand, I fell in love.  :lovey:
Highflier & Glow are my favourites. I'm a sucker for dragonflies & HF's colour scheme is so refreshing. Glow's hair has almost faded to white, but I prefer her that way. Her pose is adorable.
They're the only two I own so far, but I'd love to have the whole gang eventually. :)

I'm loving blue Snowflake & North Star!  :) Gusty's symbols look great in burnt orange too.
Firefly's pink body has always irritated me far more than it should. Personally, I think she'd look better white or a fiery orange.

She's not on my current wishlist, but I certainly wouldn't turn her down if I came upon her.  :P
Her colour scheme is so refreshing.

My ponies are scattered all over my bedroom, hanging out with my glass animals & the Breyers, who tower over them.
I'm running out of space now, so I just stick them in any gap I can find. Organised chaos.

Seaflower is such a stunning pony; her unusual colours look gorgeous together & really make her stand out. Plus the shy poses are my favourites.  :lovey:

My second favourite would be Mainsail. She's like a little ray of sunshine with her cheerful design. ^-^

42
Cherry Blossom, Applejack, Autumn Skye, Round & Round.
I've always thought Wishawhirl's hair combo was one of the most striking. :)

43
Strawberry Surprise.  :lovey:
I never thought I'd ever love a monochrome pink pony so much, but I ADORE her. I think it's the shy pose & those striking green eyes. I need her.

Boysenberry Pie's my second favourite; her colours are so vibrant. :D

Her colour scheme's pretty. ^-^
Not a huge fan of the 'wig' gimmick ponies though.

Pony Corral / Re: "Must Have" Ponies: Perception vs. Reality...

1. Who is your most "valuable" / proud moment / grail-y pony?
It's a three-way tie between SS Twilight, Gypsy & G2 Copper Glow.
They're all in perfect condition & were grails for a long time. ^-^

2. Who is your favorite pony?
Glory & Surprise.

3. Who do you think the most sought after pony is?
At the moment, I'd say it's probably Night Glider. She's incredibly popular (& for good reason.)  ;)

4. If you could advise the entire community to add one pony to their collection, who would that pony be and why do you think he or she is special / beautiful / unique?
Glory.
A classic pony from one of MLP's most influential years. Her design is simple but stunning. A magical snow-white unicorn with shooting stars on her butt: what more could you ask for?

5. Who is your most wanted pony, right here right now?
It changes pretty frequently, but at the moment, I'd say G1 Skyflier.

6. Do you collect individual ponies or do you collect by set?
Individuals. I collect ponies whose designs stand out to me, or whom I have a strong childhood connection with. I wouldn't buy a pony I wasn't keen on just to complete a set, although there are some sets that I would like to complete.

7. Would you rather have one rare pony or a few new less expensive ones? (All ponies in good condition and bought for their proper worth)
A few less expensive ones. One pony is never enough, & I love seeing different types displayed together. :)
