Pony Corral / How to display your collection
« on: January 06, 2018, 07:02:51 PM »
So I finally managed to get shelves up to display my ponies but I’m not quite fixed on how I want to display them. How have you guys displayed yours? Randomly, in year sets, colours, grouping of favourites?  Also do you display all their accessories or just their ribbons and any ‘big’ accessories like some of the babies have?

Any and all ideas welcome, I’ll be slowly working on my display over the next few weeks as I have to go back to work tomorrow. Very typical of me to leave things like this til the last minute.

I have to either buy on eBay or from members on here. I don't find ANY ponies in the wild at all, not even G4s (and I only collect G1s) and it's really hard for me to sell the ones I have duplicates of as some of them as in really bad condition or people don't like buying common ponies Internationally that they can find in their own cities. At the moment these really bad ones are used for my nieces to play with (ages 4 and 3), though the youngest really likes FIM and doesn't have a clue about the G1s I have.

Pony Corral / Collection status

Is anyone else at the stage when looking through photos of pony lots for sale that 90% of them you already have?

The ponies I'm sort of looking for aren't rare, hard to find or anything else, most of them are quite common but it seems that lots only have the extremely common ponies in them now days or I have too many ponies to start with. Sometimes I think it's easier to focus on getting accessories for the ponies I do have rather than go looking for new ponies.

How do you guys feel about the status of your collection? Is every pony you see one you don't have or are you at the 'fun' middle or end stage that you're looking for  ponies that are better found as individuals rather than in big lots?

Most of my collection is packed up from removing from a display at a toy museum, so I don't have any recent photos but I do have a link to the Facebook post I made about putting up the display with photos.

Thanks guys! Looks like it's just slow at updating or just in general. I think what annoys me the most is the lack of communication from the seller. I shall try to be patient.

So I bought a necklace I needed for a cosplay from a seller on Etsy, I needed it for 3 weeks time so I asked for an invoice to pay extra to attempt to get it on time. No response from seller, I asked a few times more and then got a response 3 days later saying it usually takes between 2-3 weeks from Russia to New Zealand, but no mention of being able to get faster shipping.

I kept messaging her to see if she had posted anything (it was meant to take 3-5 days to make) and all I got was a response was "soon". Then a week ago the tracking number was finally uploaded and it was put out for international departure and it hasn't moved since.

Anyone have experience with Russian Post? Can you tell me a bit about it?

As for the pink ribbon, it is actually a little longer than the other two when stretched out, satin on only one side.  I thought maybe it came with one of the pony wear sets? Or maybe not.
I *think* that it has to have satin on both sides to be a real pony ribbon. Can someone else confirm? I'm pretty sure that's one of the tell-tale signs. And as far as matching them up to the correct pony, I thought that there was a website called Twilight's Accessory ID that has a good ribbon section, but I can't find it. Does anyone know if it's still around?
The site is called greatponies.com. If it's not up and running you can get older archived versions on the way back machine. I use this site all the time to I'd my accessories p.

Pony Corral / Re: Do you have Petite Love?
« on: February 07, 2017, 03:20:27 PM »
Love them, these ones are the ones I have the most vivid childhood memories of. I have most of the basic/common ones plus a couple house/shops and 2 of the larger playsets, the castle and the carousel. I also have lots of doubles that I was planning on listing for sale soon if anyone is interested.

Anyone from Emsworth, Hampshire, United Kingdom wanting to help me? There's a Crimp and Curl salon on eBay that only accepts pick ups and I really want it. Auction ends on 10th Feb or has a buy now.

There's an elastic loop in the pocket that the head fits through, so that's not indicative of it being MIB.

At the moment I don't have room but there are plans to use old bookcases and kitchen cabinetry we took out to make a display area for them all. It's nice to see them out again.

No they're not in the sun, otherwise I don't think I would have done it. They're in a room behind glass and there's a sun shade stretched below the high windows/skylight so no direct sun, though it does get very warm in there.

The collection will be up for a few months so if you're ever back in chch then you should go see it,even if it's not Xmas.

It took roughly 6hrs to set up. Don't know what I would have done if I didn't have the help of my mum and friend.
