the funniest thing is, the only other place this photo turns up is in an article about "30 things women over 30 should'nt own" along with the caption under the ponies saying "It’s a fad right now, but that doesn’t make it any less creepy."

I dunno...I find it sad and annoying rather than funny. It's that "We can tell you who to be" mentality about wider society that I hate. And you notice these things are generally targeted at women, rather than at men. Often written by women, as well. I just find it sad...also sexist as it's the usual 'women should grow up, men can carry on playing' mentality.
Also people who spend their time writing lists of things other people they've never met shouldn't have are really creepy O.o. I mean, they're obsessing over the lives of people they don't know O.O.
Same here, I find it quite offensive, to be honest. I've never really let anyone dictate who I am, what I should do and shouldn't do, and have grown up doing as I please, more or less. I could probably go on about how the writer of the article might do things that I'd consider to be creepy, if I knew a hair about the person, but since I don't.. People are always going to make jabs about other people and their passions, likes and hobbies, especially on the internet since they're safe and hidden on the other side of a screen. These people generally also have their own bunch of insecurities they're trying to cover-up and hide.

So my past week and last few days at work have been somewhat especially awful and horrible, like on a soap-opera level... And sometimes, when I go through times such as these, I have a slight tendency to spend money (it's either that or sit at home and eat ice cream..).. So besides a recent purchase of several ponies here on the Arena (post w/ pics coming soon), which may or may not also include me preordering a set of Jurassic Park Funkos, I made a few purchases last week on eBay.. G3 Kimono (who I'd wanted, but never owned because I was late to the G3 party by about a year or two.. When I started collecting).. G4 Haven Bay and G4 Queen Novo (plus Spike).. The problem with G4 is repetition of character and reliance on the animation. And that's probably a reliance made worse by the advent of people obsessed with the animation and not at all interested in the toys.
This is actually one of my biggest gripes with G4.. Enough to where I'm looking forward to G5 with hopes of starting off on a somewhat-clean slate. But I do see the points about mail-orders.. Maybe I'm just being old-fashioned and stuffy, and miss "the good ol' days" when MLP had charm

So I was thinking the other day about the many G1 mail-order ponies during the G1-run, as well as even the few from the G3 line (not sure with G2 since I'm not as familiar with them). But not just mail orders, but some of the other special releases - which was moreso during G1. Looking back at this, it feels like G1 was treated as not just a girl's toy, but also as a collector's item (all the ponies you had to chase down by mail or catalogue order). They were released and treated as something that would ultimately have value with time. Flash-forward to today's G4s (and also partly G3), and it doesn't seem to be this way anymore, regarded as simply a toy.
Maybe I'm just crazy, idk.. But does anyone else see this?
