Are you working with a budget? If you have some $ to play around with, you might want to hire a freelancer for this kinda stuff. You can still host your site through HostGator, I believe, but get some other hired help to design it. Check with their policies, and if you want to go that route, I know a couple freelancers who need some work.
There's also some decent software out there if you're interested in DIY. With the right tools, it might not be so hard.

Since my site is always growing I really need something that I can do myself. It needs to be easy to use just because of the sheer volume of pages I have/need to add. Babushka - a WYSIWYG would probably work the best, its what I have. I'll see what I can find on the two that you've suggested. Thanks everyone for your input!

I've kept my site hosted with my old job for about 4 years now and I've had a couple close scares where I almost lost everything when they transferred ownership so it's past time I find somewhere new to keep my site. I'd heard some great things about hostgator and even signed up with them yesterday, but I'm just feeling very frustrated with their builders so far...I just want to keep the look and feel that I already have without things getting too complicated any suggestions would be welcome and there is a link to my site (worldlydogs) in my siggy. If the seller won't work with you and you're reduced to leaving negative feedback make sure you also leave the appropriate 'stars' for shipping as well. There is really no excuse for overcharging on shipping by that much.

This is going to sound really weird, but have you tried pushing the smoke stack? My niece got one for her birthday and we couldn't get it to work for anything, but then my mom called and told me that worked like an on and off button - even though there is an on/off switch. I hope that makes sense, as I haven't seen it since the day of when it wasn't working.
