 THAT MINTY!!

I'm not sure if the giant Cupcake in this commercial is a huge plush or if they just made it look like the little girl was sitting on a Cupcake pony.

There used to be a video on YouTube posted by someone that claimed they owned one of the giant carousel ponies in the Drink n Wet pony commercial.

I think that first commercial used a green-screen ;)   Not real.

MustBeJewel has one or two of those carousel sweetheart sisters :)  They're not plush -- but they're gorgeous!

I used to have most of the giant G3 plushes.  We used them as a reindeer/sleigh display for a winter-themed ponymeet:

For those of you that are running into this problem, it seems to just snap off at the root.   Is the rest of it brittle? Can you break it halfway down the mane, or is it just weak at the root plug?

Is the tail hair breaking off too?  I wonder if they used a glue in the mane stitching that's breaking down the mane hair, which would leave the tail hair unaffected.

It really makes me scared to even touch my G3 collection anymore, let alone think about what it'll look like in another 10 years!

If someone's got better photos, feel free to use those. And you have my permission to do any touch-up / color adjustment you need.  Good luck with your project!

I have two versions -- with bangs, and without bangs.   They also have different lace trim on their dresses ;)

Pony Corral / Re: Price Check on Home Sweet Home, Waterfall... etc
« on: March 26, 2018, 02:02:36 PM »
I'll give it a shot....

Home Sweet Home - Looks like you're missing the blue reins, but if the roof isn't too discolored, maybe around $75-100. I sold a mostly-complete one last year for about $50.

Not sure on the 3D puzzle. I don't think it's super rare though.

Maybe about $30 for the waterfall set.   It's too bad it's broken (that cloud was designed poorly!) but the box kind of makes up for it.

Ballet Studio:  missing pony, pink bunny, and I can't tell if it's got all the dance song cards or not.   I'm not sure how to price this one since it's got both French and English on it.  The US release might sell for $20-30 incomplete with box, but not sure about the Canadian one.

Brightglow - looks very nice!  EBay's ended auction shows she seems to sell for about $20-40.  That's a wide range though!

Party Pack Gift Set - this would be something I'd personally be interested in if you ever decide to sell and ship. Could you please tell me if this poster is listed on the box as one of the contents?  I would really like to know!
As far as value goes, it's hard to price since there are so many pieces. I didn't see Yum Yum's wings which would really bump up the value.   The ponies and accessories aren't too hard to find, but again, this is a Canadian version which is probably harder to find, but I don't know how much demand there is for it.   Cool that you have the ribbons though -- those are hard to track down!  I would guess this lot here without the poster is worth $60, give or take $10.   The poster itself is hard to find.  Maybe add another $20-30 for it alone.

Nightglider - if she has no spots, white or brown or otherwise, she's worth quite a bit because she's prone to getting spots.  Roughly $60 in good condition.

Not sure on Starlight.

and YES ribbons and combs will absolutely increase the price especially if you can match them up accurately.   That kind of stuff is gold to me

Hope this helps!  Good luck and please let me know if you open sales to selling to the USA ;)

Also, if you live with others (a spouse, roommate, parents, etc), just be mindful and respectful of their space as well. Ponies  have a way of exploding all over the place without you realizing it *lol*   Just because you're excited about your hobby doesn't mean everyone sees it that way ;)

Pony Corral / Re: POTD 3/15/18 Brandy

There is a blank one I have found here too but I think it looks like the one you have eyes drawn (?) onto? I forget but it feels a little more substantial as a toy somehow.

yes, I believe the hand-drawn ones were blank ones modified by the owners.   As a kid, I would definitely want eyes on my dog!  I've collected several online images from auctions of hand-drawn Brandy faces. Some of them are quite funny!  I think this is my favorite:

That image of all the Brandies (Brandys?) makes me laugh. Their faces are hilarious when all lined up <3

They're waiting for their treat!  lol!

You have eye patch Brandy (which South American country is he from? Please remind me!)

I have Greek Brandy and he smells of vanilla, like the Greek ponies :)

Love pkw xxx

Eye patch Brandy is from Argentina :)

I think I may be missing the Greek one, but I have a Brandy from most other countries.  Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Italy... and various ones from the UK, Germany/Europe, and USA.

Watch your budget, AND watch your space limitations, or you will risk your collection becoming a burden instead of an enjoyment.

Watch out for shipping costs -- they can really blow your budget quickly!  Especially international shipping.

In fact, you can really get some great deals by buying ponies in person.  Check 2nd-hand stores, flea markets, etc.  But I would TOTALLY recommend attending the Pony Fair if you can! It's easily the largest gathering of pony collectors and vendors and there are some great deals to be had.  Most vendors will be a little flexible on price too, especially if you're buying in bulk.   Plus, it's a super fun event, pony-buying aside ;)   If you're looking for playsets, buying in person means you don't have to pay shipping.   There may also be local pony meets (where are you located?) and you can buy/sell/trade there too.  But I can't emphasize enough how convenient the Fair is for expanding your collection quickly and in a fun way.

As far as where to focus, my advice is to start with ones that strike your fancy first.  It'll grow into it's own thing all by itself without you having to lay out a specific plan.  I personally started my collection by buying back the ones I had as a kid....

~Then, it expanded to the ones I've always wanted within those sets.
~Then ponies to complete those sets, or others I wanted from different lines.
~Then... well, any and all ponies from the USA G1 line.  At this point, I considered my goals "completist"
~It expanded to all playsets and accessories.
~Then stickers and ponywear.
~Pamphlets, backcards, and other paper items.
~At some point, UK ponies seeped in, along with German ones... Swedish... Scandinavian/Australian.
~Then playsets and accessories and ponywear and other stuff from THOSE countries and beyond.
~I acquired a set of 6 Pretty Parlors from different countries like Brazil, Germany, Argentina.  That particular collection focus has now reached a number somewhere into the 40's!!
~Now, I look for just a handful of specific things I want and also "upgrade" the condition of the ponies I have :)

I just covered my two windows with near floor-to-ceiling cabinets with sliding doors. These are PAX Wardrobe cabinets from Ikea.  I actually open the doors on rotation so that the ponies can "air out", but they also do a great job keeping dust away.

I keep these desiccant / dehumidifying eggs scattered throughout to help with any humidity.

I turn on the ceiling fan on low to circulate the warm heat at the top of the room (I have very tall ceilings in that room)

I also have a small air purifier that I leave running on low full-time right beside the air vent. That way any air coming in through the vent gets purified.
