Pony Corral / Re: Show me your deflocked ponies!

I managed to deflock a SS Paradise as well (getting pics up is a pain, so I am glad someone else has one to show off LOL). The thing is, her flocking practically FELL off. No need to use anything stronger than warm water! And she looked so pretty and sparkly clean. So I thought, this isn't so bad, let's do another one (I had another super poor condition Paradise). ah ha ha ha ha ha.... Nothing like beginner's luck to get all grandiose about deflocking...  :P  I long for a deflocked Twilight, though.

I do have a Ribbon I haven't finished working on yet, tbh... I should find the time to finally clean her up.

Nice work. Is that her original hair?

Yes, it is! It still had the original factory curl, but unfortunately I had to boil her head and the tail needed smoothing out so a sacrifice had to be made.

Great job. I had one deadlocked years ago but the head ended up being very discolored. So now I just have a fuzzy one and a Brazilian. One of my fav ponies! Wish a baby had been released for it.

I'd love a Brazilian Paradise, but the price tag is intimidating.

Baby Paradise would be so cute! With a little work, Baby Surprise could become one...

Ohhh, I think I need Butterscotch for sure, since she was the only CP I had as a child. But Minty is adorable too.

I really hope these come to the UK.

I hope they release more, like the unicorns and pegasi, to be honest. And that they're global, and not restricted to the US. That would be depressing.

Paradise has been an objective since I first saw Return of Tambelon as a child, and I recently got hold of her and I'm so happy! I've deflocked her, and now she looks amazing!

Pony Corral / Re: do you "play" with your ponies?
« on: January 02, 2018, 11:48:50 AM »
My objective is to get a nice setup and take photos of my ponies, but for now I make them pretty. Every now and again I'll change my desk buddy and make her run across my desk if I want a break or something :P I sometimes play around with them, but it's all in my head - I wish I could play pretend like I did as a child, I remember huge epic adventures and giving each pony a voice (an imitating the ones from the cartoon as best I could). However, I do give each of my ponies a personality and a backstory, so there's that.

The Bewilderbeast is the immense white alpha dragon from How to Train Your Dragon 2. I saw it and loved it so it became my go-to name when I don't want to use my Tumblr username. It's actually usually "Bewilderbeastie", but I made this account before I started adding the "ie" :P

Online most people only know me by my nickname Pixie, though, which comes from my first ever online username, pixie-rings (coincidentally still used on my ancient DA account and my Ao3). Pix for short, of course.

Spoiler
I also hate Kylo.  He's an awful person.  Yeah, Luke made a mistake in how he confronted him back in the day but seriously--boohoo, get over it, Kylo.  He's a brat who idolizes (and works for) space Nazis.  And killed his own dad.  What a peach.

Spoiler
I was so afraid of saying "nazi" on here (because you never know how people will react even when it's the truth right now) but damn you RIGHT. The only time I like him is in small doses in Kylux fanart. That's literally it. And he needs to
  • keep his shirt on
  • stay away from Rey

Also like... his grandfather STOPPED being evil?? That was the whole point? Or did he conveniently forget that part?

Spoiler
His shirt being off was so unnecessary and ridiculous, lol.

I liked him as a character (not a person) in TFA because it seemed like he was going to be a straightout villain, like Darth Vader was in A New Hope.  I actually thought it was interesting having the villain being a selfish and mildly pathetic wannabe idolizing something terrible while totally ignoring its history and context, because there are a LOT of guys out there like that (in both the internet and real life.)

Then I started seeing articles about how RELATABLE Kylo Ren was in TFA and I was like . . . whaaa?  I don't find him relatable at all.  He's like an amalgam of a bunch of terrible guys I've known over the years.

I also didn't like his fight against the red guards with Rey, even as an action scene, because it seemed really contrived.  Each guard specializing in a different weapon . . . REALLY?

Spoiler
Honestly, people that relate to Kylo Ren really heavily kind of... worry me. I dunno, I like that the type of villain moved from evil fascist dictator to evil fascist school shooter type. The villain of Star Wars has moved with the times.

I did really like the fight, I thought it was badass, but I found the fight between Kylo and Luke way cooler.

Spoiler
It was FANTASTIC to finally see Leia use the Force, and so strongly, because she's just as powerful as Luke and people so easily forget that.

Thank you!!!
Hearing people shocked in the theater that Leia used the force tickles me. She has been force sensitive since the original movies.

But I loved this movie. Honestly better than last imo, The Force Awakens pretty much was a rehash of the 1st original film which was really disapointing for me. So seeing this was more original made me really happy!

Spoiler
OMG YES!! Vader literally says to Luke "maybe your sister..." because he can sense the Force is as strong in her as it is in Luke... and honestly, he might have had more luck with her than Luke, when it came to the Dark Side, but the backlash again a powerful Force-sensitive woman is bad enough now, the film would have flopped hard in the 70s.

And I agree! I really like that it was so different! And what's to complain about, nothing can be as bad as the Phantom Menace.

Oooo, good point about Beyblade!  That also reminds me of Yu-Gi-Oh--a cartoon show pushing a card game, heehee.

If you read the first chapters of the manga, they are NOTHING like the show. It wasn't even supposed to be about card games, it was supposed to be about a schoolboy possessed by an ancient demon who punished bullies and criminals through karmic challenges they were set up to lose. It was really dark. The mangaka started the card game arc and it became SUPER popular so that became its entire reason for existing.

The subsequent series are all about the cards, though. So now it's a toy-toon.

I had an apology blow up in my face on top of finding out some people in a group chat I was in didn't want me there and just didn't say anything, hoping I'd go away on my own. So now I've lost one of my favourite places to be as well as found out people I considered friends didn't consider me a friend back.

Pony Corral / Re: Anyone Else Kind Of Iffy About Continuing To Watch FIM?

I got to the beginning of s5, I think, and stopped watching. I haven't seen anything for about two/three years, and I'm not fussed. It's gotten very meh.

If you want other cartoon recommendations, I hear Guillermo del Toro's Trollhunters is really good.

With Voltron, I feel like it's a "toon first, toys as an extra" show.  As far as I know Playmates doesn't actually 'own' Voltron, they are just licensed to make the toys.

That's very true. I confess while I know a lot about the plot of 80s Voltron, I know nothing about the actual stuff behind it except I know the States commissioned another 30 episodes from Japan because it was so popular. I'm more familiar with the Voltron they're making now, which is definitely a toy-pushing vehicle.

There are anime that push toys as well, like Bakugan and Beyblade and stuff.
