I really want to like these but they just don't do it for me. Somehow the balance between the more "chibi" elements and the more realistic ones has plunged these toys right into the uncanny valley for me.
I don't see how they're even remotely chibi? They lack the huge bobble heads, their eyes no longer take up 60% of their faces, their legs are better proportioned and have knees and hocks, their bodies are larger and rounder instead of tiny and wonky.
Its just that the necks and chests are all wrong and they lack eye sockets. But it looks like some of the moulds have the suggestion of cheek bones again.
I mean they aren't chibi like G4s are, but they still have slightly chibi looking heads to me. What I'm trying to say is that slapping a sliiiightly too large head with sliiiightly too large eyes on that body creeps me out.

Which pony character do you consider to be your hero? North Star! I always remember her epic flight at the end of The Return of Tambelon.
If you could live anywhere in pony land, (or surrounding vicinity) where would it be? Can't go wrong with good ol' Ponyville. The G3 version if you don't mind! Too many monster attacks going on in G4.
What is your biggest fear? Getting on Majesty's bad side.
What is your favorite pony family vacation? Unicornia, gonna soak in some of those colors.
What would you change about yourself if you could? I'm always envious of those Pegasi wings...
What really makes you angry? Really drives me batty when somebody turns the Waterfall into soda or ice cream or something. I'm trying to get clean here!
What motivates you to work hard? The socks Minty promised me for Christmas.

A bit of an odd choice, but I like G3 Dainty Daisy a lot. Her colors are just so lovely and perfect for springtime!

I just got my hands on a nice haul of G2s, and among them was a Light Heart who has yellowed significantly in parts. This one is made out of a hard plastic, unlike most ponies, so I am not sure how to go about trying to whiten her body again. Any advice?

I was never a big fan of TRU, even as a kid but I hope this goes well for them. I would like to see some nice dedicated toy stores again.

I was a kid when G3 was new too, and thought they were dreadful back then. I got into G4 from the show and just kind of fell in love with the general concept of rainbow horses and ended up here.

I definitely have some. The most recent one is Moondancer and Skydancer, they are such an elegant couple! I also paired up Denim Blue and Peri Winkle and Abra-Ca-Dabra and Dazzleglow (a cross-generational ship, gasp!). I also am convinced Hidden Treasure is a lesbian, but just hasn't found anyone yet. Hang in there girl! I tend to just invent these pairings as I place them together on shelves.

These scare me. They look like some of the jokes we came up with ages ago where there was a thread we made up fake G5 leaks. I think it was Apple Dazzle, the G5 pony with peg legs and a tiny smooshed face with massive eyes?

I always think about this one Rarity I used to have who had the most horrible tail I've ever seen. It was off-colored, a bit greasy feeling, and about the last third of it was one horrible mat that would never get de-frizzed. I don't have that one anymore because it was just too depressing for me, haha.

It's pretty cool that some were found cheaply! I bet that must be absolutely thrilling to find as a collector.
