Off Topic / Re: Favorite Disney Princess/Queen/Leading Lady?
« on: February 27, 2018, 12:46:34 AM »
I picked Aurora & Mulan, which have respectively been my two top fave Disney characters since I was a small child and saw their movies. Not included in the poll is my third favourite... Giselle!

White body/pink hair
Blue body/pink hair (vice versa)
Yellow body/pink hair
Purple body/pink hair (vice versa)

Those are the ones that stick out to me. :)

Pony Corral / Re: Which Baby Milky Way is the rarest?

I've seen more photos of the blue forelock version, particularly I remember seeing two mint in bag ones for sale with the blue forelock (either two, or one pony sold twice in the timespan of a year or so?). The blue mane stripe does seem to be a little rarer but as TAF babies are already rare enough by themselves I don't think it makes that much of a difference.

Pony Corral / Re: Giant Aussie Plushes Collection *need help*
« on: February 03, 2018, 04:51:33 PM »
Hi, there were a lot of giant plushies produced. When I get on my PC later I will see if I can scare up some thread links/info and if you like I can PM you images of them. I used to dream of owning all of the giants but had to downsize and sell off my collection early last year. Good luck if you are hunting for them, they’re beautiful ^.^

prototypes and prizes
Prototype giants: Star Catcher, Star Swirl, Butterscotch (the Butterscotch went up on ebay many years ago and ended up in a giant plush collector’s hands :) the other two were only seen in photographs on the manufacturer’s website before the actual line went into production)

Prototype half-size “sample” giants: Rainbow Dash and Sweetberry confirmed/sold to collectors, when asked a representative mentioned there were five sample characters made

Australian colouring competition prizes: Kimono (I believe two exist)

US Pony Points mail order: Frilly Frocks (they initially produced only 10 numbered editions of her believing nobody would get enough points :P when they received way more entries the MO was closed and only enough produced to meet the standing orders, I believe numbers like 100-200 of her have been thrown around)

Wave one sold in AU/NZ stores: Minty, Rainbow Dash, Sweetberry

Wave two sold in AU/NZ stores (with butterfly backpacks): Frilly Frocks v2, Minty v2, Twinkle Twirl

Wave three sold in AU/NZ stores: Minty v3, Wysteria, Pinkie Pie

Half-size “mini giants” of the exact same construction as W3 but with zipper pockets in the back: Sweetie Belle, Minty, Wysteria, Pinkie Pie

I like the ideas of something natural and flower-patchy to go with Blossom/Minty/Butterscotch... Perhaps some dandelion puff seeds?

I’m fond of rhyming sets so I think I’d group them into couples with some slightly generic color/symbol related names...

Raincurl - Dawn Bright
Ringlet - Morning Light

Stripes - Wild Wonder
Streaky - Sound Runner

It was close between Lilly Drop and Ocean Gem, in the end I had to choose Gem. All eight of them are so cute though!! I own them all so nobody goes unloved ^.^

Pony Corral / Re: G1 Price Check - Mail Order Birthday Ponies

In mint condition with all accessories and pamphlet... both ponies... :faint: no data available!! I honestly think it would be best to auction them! These are quite rare and very desirable. A single loose twin goes for up to $200 easily, as Aurora said. I would suggest listing them separately too, some people are only looking for one or the other to complete their own set.

Here's a thread from 2006 that prices them in the hundreds: http://www.mlptp.net/index.php?threads/baby-sugar-cake-and-baby-gametime-price-check.13244/ They're one set that will likely never lose value :)

Pony Corral / Re: New 35th Anniversary Collector Ponies Spotted! Pics!

Would love to see in hand pictures and comparisons to the original 6 as soon as people are able. :) These look lovely and I might pick up my fave Butterscotch, but I'm kind of iffy on the color scheme, the new one's hair looks a very vivid bright yellow rather than the mellowy golden I'm used to.

Pony Corral / Re: The Rainbowest Dash
« on: January 04, 2018, 02:51:48 AM »
I think the photo is of the taobao version of this Rainbow Dash released with a full rainbow tail and untrimmed (2 inch long?) forelock. The release version has the fringe cut much shorter, some were released with a rainbow tail, and some with only blue/purple tails.

Pony Corral / Re: Question about G4 Feathermay
« on: January 01, 2018, 02:39:26 AM »
When she came out, the mismatch varied from very mild/almost unnoticeable to just  I remember searching through a few on shelf to find the best matched one to buy for myself, and knowing that she would deteriorate with time. Mine is in storage so I can't see how she's faring, but I bet the head is a bright pink and the body is dark magenta. Such is life though, she's still a lovely little pony. :)

Both Candy Cane and Comet Tail stick strongly to my fridge, but repel each other's feet.

Pony Corral / Re: Anyone Else Kind Of Iffy About Continuing To Watch FIM?
« on: December 31, 2017, 07:59:59 PM »
I attempted to continue watching for a while but checked out long ago. I liked it up until Twilight became an alicorn. I was naiively excited for some kind of development and progress amongst the cast, and was disappointed with the ensuing season where they seemed to do much of nothing. I think that was 2014's rainbow power? I'm pretty sure I struggled through the status quo episodes and saw the finale with the rainbow tree castle. Then maybe a little of the next season, hoping now they would develop and grow and change... I saw Starlight Glimmer get revealed as a villain and then mysteriously run away, I was so underwhelmed and disappointed that it was still on laugh-a-day villain-of-the-day stereotypical episodes that I stopped tuning in.

I still love the basic premise and the characters, but the constant building and teasing of something greater being developed only to be completely reset next time on FiM was really discouraging. Also the fact that every villain either disappeared completely, or if they returned had to be stripped down and remade into a friend rather than an antagonist. Like you can't exist if you oppose the majority... there are cartoons for kids under 10 that have nuanced plotlines and character developing arcs, I'd rather watch something exciting and new-new than the sameold-newep that FiM was delivering to me.

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Re: Care Bears Thread
« on: December 20, 2017, 01:52:31 AM »
I always loved the designs and characterisation of the Care Bears but never got into collecting physical toys of them until the Build a Bear ones came out. I like the original 10 bears, the 10 cousins and also True Heart bear. Tenderheart and Wish have to be my top favourites though. I have Tenderheart, Funshine, Grumpy and Cheer from the BAB line. I'm hoping that they expand to include more - I can't fathom why they haven't done common favourites like Good Luck or Birthday or Bedtime yet!! Perhaps Good Luck will make an appearance one Patty's day in the future. :P

The two with tags that I have owned were priced at $150 AU from Myer. :)
