It clears alot of things up. My package arrived!! I think the reason that it took longer because it was sent with priority airmail. Usually my stuff has always been shipped via groundmail, because of the short distance. Things are clearer now. But he should have gotten a tracking code with priority right?

Also for his letter to the USA. He said he DID receive a tracking code for it, but it has been saying ' Arrived in the US' for a long time, no state, no details just that. I think it might be an usual delay due to holidays but he still asks if it is really bad that the tracking just says 'US' ?

He told me that he payed for registered (einschreiben) mail for the letter he sent to the USA, and it never arrived as told before.

He also payed registered mail for my package. But apparently the person who worked there said ' a letter like this gets no tracking code '. No tracking code was on the receipt or anything.

So basically he paid extra for nothing? Is that even possible? 

I have a friend in Germany who has sent me and other people countless packages but lately he has issues of letters never arriving or just dissappear altogether.

To begin a few years ago, he sent someone a letter containing a gamecube memorycard to Austria. The letter was cut open, and the memorycard was taken out, and the receipiant only got the letter.

Now going back to this year. He sent a letter to the US a month ago, containing 3 Magic the Gathering cards. It never arrived.

Now he sent me a package, it was actually sent as a 'letter' because it was too light and they said they couldn't send it as a package because of its weight. He had no other choice. He sent me 4-6 packages before and they always arrived within 2/3 days. He sent it on the 3rd December and now it's already the 9th and it still hasn't arrived. He sent me an Applejack plush and a few blindbags.

Does the Deutsche post have had these issues with letters? He never payed extra for a tracking code because packages rarely ever get lost before, especially if it doesn't have to travel that far. He never changed addresses, names , he has been using the same info as he did for years. But it is really strange how my package suddenly gets delayed or even lost just because it was a letter.

Maybe they are sold in more slavic countries, but I'm really not sure.
