Oh! She's so pretty!!!

I don't really go out of my way to collect G1's anymore, but I would 100% make room for this lovely lady in my herd if I were ever to stumble upon her. I love her monochromatic color scheme!

Oh wow, I didn't realize they all had different eye shapes AND there's a couple different body styles! I know these toys aren't what everyone wants, but they really feel like they've had some good effort put into them. I still don't see myself ever going out of my way for these style of ponies, but I'm sure I'll eventually collect a few at some point once they start showing up at thrift stores.

As for the discussion on soft vs. hard bodied toys, I definitely remember as a kid carrying around my hard plastic horse toys absolutely everywhere. And these were more horse-proportioned with long, thin limbs. They never broke (except the one I purposefully threw at the wall in a fit of rage), and it never bothered me that they weren't soft. So I can definitely see why lack of soft plastic is not exactly a deal breaker for kids nowadays.

I'm REALLY glad to see new ponies this gen, but I'm still pretty concerned that the classic brushable pony doesn't appear to be the standard and they're still going with the tiny molded hair action figures for the main line. Brushable hair makes the recoloring definitely less obvious.

Same 😢 these new designs are super cute and I'm loving the variety, but the articulated limbs and molded hair makes them so unappealing.

Petals looks WAY cuter in that toy set than she's had in other versions of her. I think her head shape is a little rounder and her back is shorter. I'd love it if they could just use that model of her with brushable hair and no articulated limbs.

Some new styling size G5s are seen in this new video on the official Instagram acount!

Still no brushable mane for Hitch but... you can brush the tail of this one? I guess it's an improvement? But I'm still annoyed with it. They are very actively trying to avoid giving him a brushable mane I don't understand at all.

Those are so cute!!! I do wish they'd give Hitch a proper brush able mane, but he looks significantly cuter in this toy compared to the other one we saw of him. I think these styling sizes are definitely going to be my focus of collecting for this gen.

I'd have loved to have her if she didn't have the printed on jewelry. Things like that always ruin ponies for me.

Pony Corral / Re: Are ALL Hallmark 2021 Powder G1 Ornaments BROKEN?

That's so weird. I saw this ornament on display last weekend, and I swear I didn't notice anything off about her. I picked her up and hinted at an early Christmas present to my husband, and he even glanced at her too. Neither of us saw anything amiss.

I do admit, I'm not the most observant person at times (straight up bought a broken ornament at Disney last year and didn't even realize it until my sister pointed it out), but this seems pretty obvious.  I wish the store was nearby so I could go take a double look and confirm. But I really think I would have noticed something like that.

I was initially excited to see we had a few of the new toys show up at our Wal-Mart yesterday too, but it was only the plushies and the tiny, articulated figured (the orange and white ponies, I still can't remember any of their new names except Hitch). But there were none of the larger, styling size pony, and I don't know if they just haven't received them yet or if they're all sold out. Since the styling size are the only toys so far I find even remotely cute, I was pretty disappointed not to find any. Hopefully they won't be impossible to find going forward.

Pony Corral / Re: Just arrived Loungefly MLP Backpack and wallet

Uh oh Inky, you're making me want to pick up another LF when I go to Disney in August. ><
I did get this bag specifically to be my park bag, and I know a lot of other folk use these too.

Haha, I highly recommend joining some Disney groups on Facebook to ask for more reviews on Loungfly backpacks/wallets :) A good number of folks have whole collections of them, and from what I've seen they hold up incredibly well. Sure, there'll always be a negative experience here or there, as there is with just about everything, but from what I can tell the Loungefly brand has generally excellent quality.

They look so great! I totally missed that they made a wallet too.

Does anybody own other loungefly wallets? I feel like that plastic "vegan leather" junk wears out so fast during regular use. Wondering if the same is true for this brand.

What do you consider "fast"?  I have a Disney-themed Loungefly backpack that I purchased over 2 years ago that I've toted around absolutely everywhere (including halfway around the world on a cruise), and it still looks amazing. No scuffs, creases, breakage, etc.

Wow, she's pretty!!! Which is surprising, since I'm not usually a big fan of red  But I do love a monochromatic-ish look, so maybe that's why.

I don't know that I'd go out of my way for her, but I certainly wouldn't say no if I stumbled upon her for cheap!

Oh.

....oh.

 -_-

I'm genuinely excited for this new generation, the animated designs for the new ponies are beyond adorable and I'm just so happy to see ponies back in the limelight. But those brushables look rough. I hate having such a negative attitude before they've even been released, but boy oh boy, are those disappointing. I guess I can hope that as time goes on perhaps they'll re-vamp their designs, but if this is it, I might just have to pass altogether.

On the plus side, their Styling Size ponies so far do seem far superior! I really, really, really hope Hitch is included, and that they'll release Princess Petals with normal wings.

Omg, all the new ponies are SO stinkin' cute! I'm crossing my fingers so hard that they all get brushable toys, especially Sprout and Phyllis! I love that there are already some variation in their body designs and it doesn't seem like they're all 1 of 4 basic designs.

I admit, I'm more than a little confused about what's going on since I don't read the MLP comics (it says the comics are ending but this is a new series?? Is it like a finale arc? A new series altogether? A 'continuation' that can be read on its own?), but holy moly that artwork is CUTE!!!

Pony Corral / Re: Unpopular Pony Opinions
« on: June 18, 2021, 03:25:34 PM »
G5 isn't MLP to me. Honestly, it's everything I don't like in a nutshell. First pony gen ever that I will buy none of it. If I didn't know it was G5 and was told it was some Disney pony thing I'd believe it 100%. The faces are especially outputting. I don't like the whole idea or characters. Would of prefered the leaked art of the revamped mane 6, with maybe some new green ponies or Minty too.
At least I can focus on the G1s through G4 things I'm missing now without much new G4 stuff (sadly)
In fact I appreciate G3's line a lot more and might expand that collection.

Wouldn't call it an unpopular opinion. A lot of people seem to be having a mixed reaction  about it, as far as I can tell.

I actually wonder if my opinion is a little more unpopular.....I LOVE the look of G5!!!!  :lovey: I know people are really disliking their "Elsa" looking faces, but I think they're all SO unbelievably cute, including Hitch (who I don't think looks like a smug jerk at all). I know that if I were a kid, I would have been all over these ponies, and I think their animation looks really top-notch from what we've seen. I am wary of the toys because we've been seeing a lot of molded hair which I personally hate, but otherwise I still think their actual designs are pretty darn adorable. It's sad to me to see how much negativity this new gen has been receiving from the get-go, especially when I genuinely think they are SO DARN CUTE!
