Adorable! Those colors suit her well, and the little dress is darling.

JMHO, a pin vise might be the safest way to go.

http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/hca/hcahcar0696.htm shows an example. They usually come with bits in several sizes, and the drilling can be done at the rate of speed and amount of pressure you feel safest with.

(is that what you used, LuvlyMelody?)

The Dollhouse / Re: Do Kids Like Monster High?

I do know some girls that like MH- the first inkling on one of them was when I ended up repairing her Frankie (little brothers, argh). We've bought MH for two others for Christmas, and one of them will be visiting my house with her mom for a customizing party sometime this summer.

Most of my personal doll shopping is done when the younglings are in school or after they're in bed, so I don't run into children on the toy aisles very often.

Most of my MH news is found here, and a little on Facebook. The admins at In The Pink have been kind enough allow monsters to share some space at their Barbie board. (Still Mattel, still 1:6-ish so it's good.) The admins have no patience for drama, which I appreciate more the longer I'm on the internet.

(have I mentioned recently that I appreciate the Arena's hands-on mods and admins?)

At least these are articulated. Wonder if the bodies are usable quality?

Thanks for the picspam! It's kind of fun to see what insane things companies will try to get close, but not too close to an original idea.
I actually kind of like a couple of the 'Maxie Girls'.

The Dollhouse / Re: Scaris Deuce ; suddenly tons of them?

Every store I go to seems to have a Deuce. I even walked into a big lots and found this:

[twitch] Good grief, I've never even *seen* one. [/twitch]
And our BL has nothing but a few outfits, no dolls at all.

Edit: 3/29/13
Don't give up! Finally, finally found 1 Deuce at our BL. They had Swim Class, Dead Tired and a few outfits. Deuce was the only Scaris doll on the shelf.

Pfft. Clearly all three attacked her at once.
Yep. The murderers read Murder on the Orient Express and figured it would take a Poirot to figure out what really happened, so they were safe.

Never even saw one on the shelf. :( So I'm hoping for a signature release, too, because I just can't justify Taobao/eBay prices for a playline doll.  (Best wishes to those who go after them, though- the more that go into collector hands the less there are for the scalpers.)

SDCC Frankie?!? Good grief, I can't bring myself to sell mine, much less drop her in the donation bin!

Weird things turn up at GW sometimes...I ran into our local store for capris one day and left with not only pants but 3 nude silkstone Barbies! (A fourth turned up a few days later.) The weren't in the collectible section, either- just laying there on the Barbie shelf! Never have figured that out.
Haven't found any MH at our Goodwill yet, but I keep hoping....

What a darling idea!

Hope all you ponies had a lovely V-Day, whether as holiday or simply as a really good Thursday. :)

No pics right at hand, so instead I'll tell about my husband- loves me far more than I deserve, puts up with all my scatterbrained antics and surprised me at work with a MH Catrine as my Valentine's present. He is appreciative of my doll collection and amused by my ponies.

I didn't technically buy her- but my dear husband ran over to Wal-Mart today and snagged the only Catrine on the shelf as my V-Day gift. :) <3 <3 <3

I have a question. I am thinking of pulling back my DC Howleen's hair into one ponytail. What do you guys use to pull their hair up? Should I just use the little plastic thing that's being used to put her hair in pigtails? I've never modified any of my dolls in any form outside of changing clothes. lol

Did just that with my Howleen, and it worked fine. You just have to pull out her earring and restyle her hair a little around her ears.

And if you're not comfortable with Dremel or heated metal, a pin vise is really nice for tiny, delicate drilling jobs. Since it's hand-powered you have complete control of how deep you drill and at what angle. Slower than a Dremel, sure, but there's less chance of one of those 'Oh no!!! What did I just do?' moments. ^__^

Ahhh Mah nightmare's coming to life!! Everyone's getting Jinafire but me!! >,<;

Ugh, I know the feeling. All the toy money I have right now *must* go to Christmas presents, so I had to leave Jinafire on the shelf.
And then we found out all 3 little girls we're buying for want MH...Jinafire and Skelita were gone by the time we could go back, but at least we get the pleasure of feeding 3 budding MH addictions. :)

edit: Ah, I see what happened...Didn't realize that the board consolidates consecutive replies in the same thread, and thought I had messed something up...[facepalm]
