Arts & Crafts Corral / Re: Questions about making pony graphic art!
« on: December 09, 2015, 02:06:24 AM »
Graphics tablets are pretty different from a Nexus type of tablet - but look up Android art programs and see if there are any you like! Styluses for that kind of tablet are pretty reasonably priced, so if you like what you can make with one of those, it's a good idea.

There's a separate skillset attached to your basic entry-level Wacom/Monoprice/etc tablet (I've only used Wacoms and they're... really temperamental in my experience, but if you're gentle with their cords they'll last forever. Most other brands are only a few years old, so it's hard to know how they'll hold up at the moment), because you need to look at the computer screen, not where your pen is. It's not a huge learning curve, but it takes getting used to. (So does the reverse, if you're like me and have barely done traditional in years. :( ) Definitely, in general, easier than a mouse, even despite that.

GIMP, Paint.NET, FireAlpaca, and Krita are all free art programs - the latter two definitely have some degree of tablet support for sensitivity, and I wouldn't be surprised if the former two did as well. SAI's a good option if you have the money (it's about $60 IIRC), but I've also heard good things about Manga Studio (which sometimes goes on sale for $15ish?). While the program you're using does matter to some degree, your familiarity with it is going to make much more of a difference, so poke around a couple options, find out what you like best. (For example: I hate the way Photoshop handles brush resizing and pen pressure, but it's got a lot more brush customizability than SAI. Conversely, I love SAI's acrylic brush preset, but it does this thing with nonstandard brush shapes when you're drawing tight curves that drives me up the wall.)

Pony Corral / Re: Restored or flaws?
« on: October 20, 2015, 12:37:52 PM »
I'd prefer a restoration, as long as it wasn't incredibly sloppy, I think! I don't mind most flaws at all, but a nice-looking pony is a nice-looking pony to me, whether or not all of its paint is original.

Money's tight in my family at the moment for a variety of reasons, so some of my G4s are going up for sale!

Items are not from a pet- or smoke- free home. I do my best to keep them away from both (and I can give them an additional wash if needed, though they're clean), but if you're heavily allergic to either please keep that in mind.

I can only ship to the United States at the moment! Prices are in USD and do not include shipping. I have a little eBay feedback here.

All of these are the original playful pony releases unless otherwise specified. Let me know if you would like their accessories; I have them all and can throw them in for free, though I'll need to sort them out.

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Re: Lucina Figma Arrived Today!!

Congrats! Mine got here a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't had much of a chance to play around with her. She's adorable!

I don't anymore, but I used to co-run a Kingdom Hearts askblog! (I would link it, but I think we had a couple of pinup-ish joke posts?) It was fun - I really enjoy writing for/drawing Aqua - but it ran for about a year. We'd pretty much run through most of the question types that were easily/funnily answerable by the time we let it peter off.

Even though we closed the askbox in 2012 or 2013, sometimes I still get notifications for questions.

I've been hooked on Undertale for the last few days. :lovey: Fumbling my way towards the true ending at the moment, but I'm forcing myself to take a breather so I don't run through the whole thing too fast.

Off Topic / Re: what do you know about Synesthesia?

It's not really a big deal for most people I've ever met who had it (myself included, haha) - it's the kind of thing you don't really conceptualize as abnormal until someone tells you most people don't half-taste those subpar grape popsicles you used to love every time you see this one exact shade of pinkish purple, you know? It's like vividly remembering fifth grade when you hear a certain song, just with a little more sensory mixup. (The assigning-personalities-to-concepts type is a little more nebulous than the rest, but not entirely dissimilar.)

Price Check Archives / Big G4 price check!
« on: September 16, 2015, 05:04:17 PM »
Prices with question marks are from recent-ish PCs (June or later) - if they're super off, I'd love to know! Sorry for the length.

I have the original accessories (pet, saddle/wagon, brush, etc) for just about all of these, if it makes any difference. I'll have to dig them out to color-match, though. No issues on any of them, AFAIK. Everything's loose except for the single MIB.

  • Glimmer Wing Ploomette
  • Glimmer Wing Daisy Dreams
  • Honeybuzz
  • Trixie
  • Sunny Rays
  • Snowcatcher
  • Flitterheart
  • Blossomforth - $25?
  • Apple Bloom (bent leg)
  • Sweetie Belle (bangs)
  • Scootaloo
  • Fashion Style RD - first release, I think I can find all her accessories
  • Molded hair gift set - Twilight, Celestia, Applejack, Pinkie, Spike, book (Is there any difference between this Spike and later ones? I have a few and can't tell them apart)
  • MIB Blossomforth - $30-35?
  • Feathermay - $15?
  • Dewdrop Dazzle - $10?
  • Cupcake - $15?
  • Lyra Heartstrings - $5?
  • Cherry Pie - $10?
  • Diamond Rose - $22?
  • Cherry Berry - $5?
  • Twinkleshine - $10?
  • Various mane six - $3?
  • Wedding Cadance - the giant talking Celestia-mold one with her wedding dress
  • Royal Castle Friends Celestia (pink body, darker-tipped wings) - $8?
  • Wave 1 Blind Bags - not a full set - $5 or so for non-mane sixes?

Thank you so much if you looked at this ♥

The shoes definitely look Barbie - I have a set of the black ones somewhere, though mine are a different release (they're silver).

Off Topic / Re: Show me... Neopets merch!
« on: July 08, 2015, 12:47:53 AM »
I'll have to dig them out, but I had a lot of merch back in the day! I have a big basket of plushes, a bunch of TCG stuff... I think I had one or two of the electronic handhelds and a light-up plastic Uni?

For fourth gen, there were no shiny locks for caught legendaries (e.g., in Black and White, you can't catch a shiny Reshiram or Zekrom - they'll just never come up shiny legitimately) - so it's possible to have a shiny Darkrai!

Basically most of the things that would mark a Pokemon as obviously illegitimate aren't ready visible to the player; obvious stuff like the wrong ability or "came from Mystery Zone" pretty much just shows up on badly hacked ones. If it also has 5/6 perfect IVs, that'd make it much more likely to have been tampered with, but that's a pain to check in games before sixth gen.

Pokebank will not catch well-hacked Pokemon, though - a few of mine were Pokegenned or cloned, and they made it through from Gen IV to XY without an issue.
