If it makes you feel better, when I see a seller with a zillion positive and one negative from a jerk off, I will often contact the seller for the user ID of the buyer so I can add them to my block list.

I once had a package from the uk post marked July 7 arrive Sept 26.  Not much you can do, I definitely wouldn't worry yet but it may not get here before Xmas.

273
Welp, another one for the block list. Guess which one.

I remember the church to the Holy moc mimic! :)  Is Icefeather still around? And do people with moc mimics still come to horrible fates that end with the destruction of said pony?  Even back in the late 90s it was nothing for her to sell for $60 to $70.  But I think her price is due more to demand than anything. That early joke from way back when maybe has snowballed and continued on to today?

*Shudders* Reading all of this makes me want to throw up.  And I thought my MOC seling/shipping/buying problems were bad.  Never, never dealing in them again no matter how good a lot seems...

276
LoL, oh you poor thing! *hugs*

I have been in situations like this in the past where I make special arrangements or discount ponies if somone wants to buy a bunch from me.

Every time...and I mean EVERY time, I run into problems.  Each time I tell myself I'm never doing it again...

...and I am in a similar situation right now with an eBay buyer.  *facepalm*

I think you're making the right choice to add her to your personal block list.

Post Merge: December 05, 2014, 05:43:08 AM

omg, as soon as I posted this he paid me!  Coincidence? XD

I know!  It's like, as soon as you start doing something special for people, they become even more hostile and demanding even though YOU were doing THEM a favor.  Oi.  I just had a lady the other day ask me to allow her to bid as ebay has her automatically blocked for me because she has 2 non-payment strikes in 12 months because her kids bid on stuff.  First, I don't know how to just let one person through w/o letting in the flood.  Second, if your kids bid once, what's to stop them from bidding again?  No thank you.  Well, I didn't realize, eBay will still let her BIN, just not bid.  ~_~  So now I have no doubt I'm going to hear crap about her BIN because she's ticked I won't let her bid on other auctions she wants.   Shoulda just blocked.  Oh well. :(

I almost kept this Locket for my own collection.  It was between one that has perfect factory curls but a few marks of regrind and this one which had no marks at all, but combed out hair that I recurled.  I was pretty shocked that someone wouldn't be happy with her!  But she'll be going up again this Sunday if anyone's interested. :)

She asked for a return on the Locket because it leaned.  As far as I know, all was well with Blueberry Baskets.

So I've had a regular buyer lstr1506.  She bids quite frequently and always pays right away.  I think this is just one of the those cases where I was too accommodating which has led someone to believe they can take advantage of me.  Anyway, I'll just throw our emails down then you can judge. Here's where it started

Hi Melissa,
ok you're going to think I'm really dumb, but what is the BIN?   I put this pony in my cart, (Savannah Sage) but if it's there and I don't pay for it, ebay says somebody else can still buy it.  And thank you so much for waiting to do the combined shipping!  I love what i have bought from you!
Let me know how to handle the purchase of this pony.   Thanks for your patience with me.
Linda

Dear lstr1506,

Oh, just do the BIN and I can wait until Sunday when the rest end.  I'll send you a combined invoice.  Not a problem at all :)  Thanks for contacting me about this, I really appreciate it!

Melissa

Dear lstr1506,

Okay, I spent an hour on the phone with eBay and what they told me what *might* be happening is that you have an unpaid item strike, outstanding items to pay for, a new account or a negative feedback, (she couldn't give me a definite answer since it's not my account) so it's defaulting and forcing you to pay immediately, even though I don't have the immediate payment option selected on my auctions. ~_~  Also, I think those reasons are a crock.  You're one of the best buyers I have and you're certainly not a new ebayer!  If it makes you feel better I tried to BIN some items myself just to see what would happen and apparently *my* account is flagged too and it forces me to pay immediately as well.  I spent another 40 minutes on hold waiting to find out what the issue with my account was and eventually just gave up.  But what I can do for you is this, I'll cancel the auction so no one else can buy it, and then when my auctions end on Sunday, I'll just fold the $12.00 for this item into your shipping totals.  Just make sure you wait for me to send you an invoice before you pay. :)  Let me know what you think!  And thanks for being so patient!  You really are one of the best eBayers out there!

First, thank you so much for your kind words!  I do have items that haven't been paid because the seller, like you have, has said for me to wait until Sunday when the rest of the items I'm bidding on end and then they'll combine everything to give me a better shipping price. Some of those ended on Tuesday, but I'm waiting until Sunday to pay for all.
That's a crazy policy of Ebays.  They say you need to pay unless you've made other arrangements with the seller. That's what I've done!  Anyway, thank you for being willing to cancel your auction and then charging me the $12.00 for that pony.
I liked the white hair on that one.  I love your ponies!  I'm thinking about also bidding on the new g1 s that you have up.
I've always been happy with the combined shipping until I got an invoice for two ponies I won from another seller today. He actually charged me more than the total of the shipping that he stated in the listing!  Unbelievable!  Things like that make me want to just stop buying.  I have you and about three other sellers that have been great and those are all I'm going to buy from in the future.
Thanks for letting me rant at the end here.  After the auctions end I'll look for your invoice and pay right away.
Linda

Dear lstr1506,

Yah, I found out that's why I'm flagged too: I have purchases from Canada where I'm originally from and my parents are picking them up and bringing payment to them at that time for me.  Well, according to eBay I'm "non-paying" ~_~  So much for making other arrangements!  I know I had one time where shipping was the same for combined auctions just because the weight bumped up a bracket... but I don't think it cost *more*!  If it had, I'd have shipped in two separate packages.  I'm all about saving the monies!  But for two ponies?  Those are *easily* in the same bracket.  Ugh.   I hate sellers that try to pad their final value prices with shipping.  I buy a ton of stuff myself and seller overcharges can really add up!  There, that's my rant :D Anywhoo, best of luck with your bids and have a great weekend!  You are welcome to my auctions any time!  And if you ever have BIN troubles, just message me and I'll take care of it like this one.

Thanks again!
Melissa

I don't think I got the correct invoice from you.  The shipping on the 4 that  I won totals $18.87 with no discount at all. The shipping amount on the invoice was $22.00 plus some change.  Can you please let me know what's happened?
Thanks so much?
Linda :)

Dear lstr1506,

Weren't you the one who wanted Savannah Sage?  $12.00 in the shipping cost is for her, plus insurance for Blueberry Baskets.  I'll go double check the math again.

- silver*dawn

Dear lstr1506,

Below is the message where we discussed adding the price of this pony into the shipping of your final auction wins.  She's $12.00 and the the other $10.00 is for shipping for the total charge in the shipping bracket of $22.00.  I'm not charging you $22 for just shipping, it's for shipping, blue the cost of Savanah Sage.  I hope this clears it up!

Thanks!
Melissa

Thank you!  I had forgotten about Savannah Sage. Yes, I want her.  I will go pay your invoice right now.
Can you tell how badly I wanted Blueberry Baskets?  Just my luck, somebody else wanted her pretty bad too.  That's the most I've ever paid, but I know she'll be worth it!  Thanks again:)
Linda

Dear lstr1506,

Blueberry is pretty gorgeous :)  I think you'll be happy with her.  If you have any problems when the package arrives, (damage, etc) please let me know as this item is being shipped with insurance.

Thanks!
Melissa

- silver*dawn

I already paid you, but was just reading your message again where you say the shipping for Savannah Sage is $12.00. I thought the whole reason for setting her aside was so she would be in with the others and then the shipping would be less.  If I'm still paying twelve for her, I could have just bought it outright instead of you holding it.  I'm not trying to be difficult, and I appreciate the insurance on Blueberry, but the total shipping seems very high to me.  Would you mind re- figuring and give me an itemized breakdown?  I bought eight new(boxed) ponies from another seller and the total shipping for all was $7.55.  Aren't you going to put them together priority USPS?
As I said, I'm not trying to be difficult; I just don't understand it.
Linda

Dear lstr1506,

The total is for "shipping" is $22.00.  $12.00 of that is the cost for Savanah Sage.  Only $10.00 is the cost for your shipping. $12.00 + $8.00 for shipping +$2.00 insurance = $22.00 that you were charged.  And that includes insurance.  $2.00 is what I charged you for insurance and in actuality it was $7.00.  So I've undercharged myself.  I am not screwing you on shipping. And you have saved money, because shipping savanah by herself was around $3-$4.00.  For all 5 items, you're only paying $8.00 shipping + $2.00 insurance and then $12.00 is the cost *of* Savannah Sage.  I hope this makes sense.  I had to include Savannah in the "shipping cost" as she was not actually "purchased" through eBays system, so I have no way to charge you for her other than to add it into shipping.  Once again $12.00 cost of the pony Savannah, $8.00 shipping, $2.00 insurance = $22.00.  Let me know if you still need help!

Thanks!
Melissa

Dear lstr1506,

Oh, savannah sage's shipping didn't cost $12.00 SHE costs $12.00 :)  The cost to ship her is included with the $8.00 + $2.00 insurance.  The only way I had to charge you for her was to add it into ebay's "shipping totals" as we had discussed prior.

Thanks!
Melissa

Thanks for taking the time to respond to me.  I have to stop reading messages in the middle of the night when my brain must be asleep even though my eyes are open.  I appreciate all you've done; letting me wait to pay until all auctions finished.  I won't bother you anymore.  I'm anxious to get these ponies and I'll leave feedback on each when they arrive. Thank you again! :)

I have to tell you that I'm a bit disappointed in this pony.  She stands very crooked and easily falls over.  The photo in the listing was taken from a lower angle looking up at the pony. I paid a lot for her and she just doesn't look like she looked in the listing. I like her, but she isn't worth the $47.00 I paid.  Every time I touch her, she falls over. What can we do? I think I'd like to send her back per your 14 day return policy.  It will be next week due to the holiday that I'll return her.
Also, you said you charged me for insurance on Blueberry Basket, but all the ponies I bought were, as you know, in the same box sent priority mail.  I can't imagine that it cost $22.00 to send.  The other two ponies are great and I've left positive feedback on them.  I said the shipping was reasonable, opened them first.  Then I was surprised to see Blueberry  Baskets in the same uninsured box.  I'm surprised after all our good communication that there would be these issues.
Linda

Dear lstr1506,

Okay, I've pulled your contact information because I think it's important we talk directly to each other.  My phone number is {REMOVED} and my cell is {REMOVED}.  I've left you a message on your voicemail, but I'll try to explain this again.

Blueberry Baskets was insured.  That WHOLE PACKAGE was insured, mostly at my expense, which I don't have a problem with.  Please understand, you never paid me for Savannah Sage, prior to Sunday's auctions end.  I closed her auction early so no one else would bid on it, but you never paid for her.  We agreed I would add the $12.00 cost of her to the shipping costs of your final win so that I could be paid for her and ship everything together.  Otherwise, there was no way I could charge you for Savannah Sage.  $12.00 of the $22.00  that you paid for "shipping" was for the Savannah Sage auction that I closed early for you.  $10.00 was your actual shipping cost.

You were charged $22.00 to cover the cost of the $12.00 for Savannah Sage, which was never paid to me prior to Sundays auctions closing, and $10.00 for shipping.  $12 + $10 equals $22 that you were charged as "shipping".   But it didn't cost $22.00 to ship her or the entire package.  It was $10.00 to ship the package ensured.  $12.00 of the $22.00 was for the cost of the pony auction I closed early without receiving immediate payment for.

Is it possible that you could get someone else to take a look at these emails and maybe they'll be able to explain this better than I can through email.

As for Locket, I will most definitely refund you for her, as well as her shipping, and I'll even re-imburse you for the cost of shipping to return her to me.

Let me know what you think and please, please, please, call me directly if you're still not understanding.  I don't want you to be upset.

Thank you!
Melissa

Buyer note to seller
I see how I didn't figure Savannah Sage into the total. She's not listed here. Thanks for the message clarifying everything:)

****

At this point I blocked the buyer until I could see Locket and figure out what was wrong with her just to make sure there weren't too many things happening at once.  Well, I received her return package today, along with a note asking me to reinstate her as a buyer because she was sorry for the trouble she'd caused with not understanding shipping.  I responded with this message

Dear lstr1506,

Hello!

I received your return and have completed the paypal refund.  I've inspected the pony and it does lean, but that is the nature of this pose is how it was manufactured.  Any other pony you buy in this pose will look the same, or worse in some cases.  For this pose, Locket stands very solidly. I was worried it may have been squashed in shipping which is why it would have arrived to you and was reported to ebay "item not as described", as I always mention in my auctions if a pony no longer stands without assistance.  It would never occur to me to mention in an auction description the leaning of a factory made pose as a "flaw".  This leaves two people with very different perspectives what on what constitutes an acceptable description of a pony.  Because of this, I don't believe it is in either of our best interests to continue with further transactions.  While I appreciate your previous business, I do not wish to continue in the future.  I wish you all the best with your other sellers who are better able to understand and meet your special needs as a collector/buyer.

Happy Holidays!
Melissa

So while this buyer pays quickly and on time, I have added her to my block list.  I'll leave your own decisions up to you.

Ugh what a pain! there are so many buyers like that on ebay these days *sigh* it is best just to get rid of them though in as quick and as polite a way as possible (even if we feel like cursing them *grins* :P )  as if we don't then they'll just open a case on us and kick up a fuss and make more issues   :(
Selling on ebay now is soooo not like the old days eh?
I remember being able to see who was bidding against me /buying the same stuff on evilbay too . We seemed to have less problems then - plus I liked being able to spy on the competition and know who I was up against lol

I hope you have better buyers in the future

Agreed!  I liked being able to see who was bidding because then if I had a similar item I was selling, I could contact the second highest bidders and let them know what what listed.  Now all I know is that I bid against e****o a lot ;)  And this whole, no bad feedback for buyers thing is such crap.  I WANT to know who the problem buyers are, regardless if they paid or not.  If they made a seller's life brutal with their unreasonable demands, I want to be able to block them!  But yes, I am refunding that person because I just want them gone.  Hopefully they would never bid in my auctions again but I still blocked them just in case.

I remember that lot... I think you may have problems.  I actually contacted the seller to ask about the one or two he claimed to have cleaned to see if the makeup had stained the plastic.  Or if he could tell me which pony he cleaned so i could judge myself from the pictue.  His answer was very evasive saying he didn't try real hard and there was still makeup in the crevasses of the eye.  Which really didnt answer my question.  When I asked again about plastic staining he would not respond.  I just assumed the worst and left it alone.  I hope it all works out for you!

I repink all ponies I plan on selling (always disclosed of course)  From my experiences it definitely increases the selling price. That or buyers don't read anything which is becoming more and more of a problem...

283
Just a quick note: I think you might have gotten me mixed up with somebody else.  I haven't sold in any quantity for a very, very long time.  I was most active around 1998-2002 with selling and trading.  I may have even bought/sold/traded with you way back when if you're the silverdawn who created the Petite Pocket:p

I do buy quite a bit though, and I'm no stranger to buying MOC ponies.  I was just remarking on how nobody forced your buyer to put in that bid.  What I was saying is that I'm no stranger to putting in a high bid and thinking it'll never in a million years get anywhere near it, and then finding out when the auction is over that it did indeed get up that high.  If I win, I pay without complaint though since I put in the bid.  Nobody forced me to bid.

I wish you the best of luck.  I'm also really sorry to hear you're having troubles with other buyers as well.  My ebay woes tend to come in clumps too.  Hopefully things will get better soon!

I must be thinking of Hudsonspelican :) But yes, I'm the same silverdawn who did the petite pocket and princess accessory guide.  Both have been handed over to the Ponyland Tours creator.  I remember back when you could still see buyers, I was frequently interested in the same auctions as you, but you usually outbid me ;)  We both know good auctions when we see them! lol

Post Merge: November 27, 2014, 07:46:19 PM

Oh, and now someone is mad because a Princess Tiffany pose I sold "isn't as pictured" because it tips over when she touches it and it leans.  *ugh*  And you couldn't tell this from the picture because I supposedly took the picture "looking up".  And you guessed it: "I paid a lot of money for this so I'm very disappointed".  No possibility of buyer's remorse there. I'm giving this person return and a refund just to get rid of them.  There are sure going to be a lot of blocked people after all this is done.  I'm not allowed to curse on this board am I?  lol

I'm slightly less worried now that I've talked a little more with the buyer.  I think he/she just likes to talk a lot based on our conversations so I'm *hoping* that's all this is.  *cries* It's been a horrible eBay day today.  I had another of my regulars angry with me: I closed a BIN auction early because he/she wanted to combine shipping and eBay was forcing them to pay immediately because they had other unpaid items.  (which was fine, we were waiting to combine shipping).  So I said I'd close the auction and hold the pony for her/him and then just add the cost of the pony into the shipping of the final invoice.  Well then, I send the invoice, and they're upset because they don't understand why shipping is so high.  I explained it over and over and today they finally got the package and were still upset because they didn't understand how it could cost so much to ship the package.  They were also mad because they thought the package (which also contained a MOC) was uninsured because the other ponies were shipped in with the MOC item.  I paid for the insurance MYSELF on the whole box and actually undercharged myself by accident.  They though I overcharged shipping, then lied about insurance? I seriously want to just cry right now.  That and destroy all the MOC's.  Goddess of Peep and Hudson, I don't know how you deal with this MOC drama all the time. :(  This is horrible.

as long as you posted high quality pictures and listed all the possible flaws i can't see how you'd be in the wrong.
i know when i had an auction go high, i took a monkey load of extra pictures after to make sure i had evidence. oh... and picture of it in the box. and pictures of me handing it to the postman. XD he thought i was nuts.
but it can't hurt.
sorry this person is, well way to aggressive. we're here for support.

Thank you so much for this!  I am definitely going to start doing this from now on!  Ugh, I still have more MOC items to go and I'm just dreading the buyers remorse.

Thanks for all the support guys!  And Goddess of Peep, I'm sorry to hear this happens to you too.  Your items are always so gorgeous! (I think I may have been suckered into bidding in an auction or two of yours by those minty minty ponies, and the accessories!  Ahhh! :))  I guess I'll see how it goes.  Happy Thanksgiving of worrying and nail biting for me! Lol
