Pony Brag Arena / MLP Collection
« on: June 02, 2015, 10:27:11 AM »
Hay ponies! May I proudly present my current collection! Battle Cat and She-Ra dolls make an appearance.. :)

I would definitely welcome any and all feedback on this (answer my concerns/questions in the info, value, any hidden gems, etc.!) Most of these are from my original childhood collection. :)

My G1 USA MLP Collection -- NFS -- From back, left to right:
BB Chief (cut front lock, slight symbol rub, some age spotting is starting to appear..waa. This is not from having Masquerade near him, I always had them separate until recently.)
TE Masquerade (pen/crayon markings, age spots, needs a bath! Tail is mysteriously thin…? I think the washer is messed up..? Maybe I pulled some out as a child, but I honestly don’t remember..lol.)
Common (Year 2?) Starshine (Aside from traditional fading and some symbol rust, she’s a beauty…I’m wondering if it would be worth it to re-glitter the symbols?)
Medley  <3 (My first -- long hair version! She may have slight imperfections, but I don’t care..hehe. She needs another trip to the pony salon!)
SS North Star (needs a bath, but I’m not touching; traditional flocking loss/thinning, small pen mark on a leg)
Gusty (Her head kinda leans to make a small gap in the head seam, but precious aside from that..needs a bath!)
PQ SHS Sweet Sundrop (What a beauty! Tail on the dry side..could use another trip to the pony salon..hehe.)
GSHS Bright Night (What a beauty! Traditional tinsel loss in mane)
GSHS Sunblossom (What a beauty! Earring broken off by a toy box lid crushing years ago.. waa!)
TE Fizzy (some pen markings, needs a bath!)
TE Galaxy (needs a bath and another trip to the pony salon!)
Happy Tails Tabby (slight symbol rub, needs a bath! Still works!)
Princess Starburst (tinsel loss in mane, needs a bath!)
Princess Sparkle (needs a bath!)
Baby Wiggles (needs a bath and a trip to the pony salon!)
Baby Sandcastle and Shovels (So cute!! They need a bath! Orange one has some weird bluish-colored marking - age spot(?) on her non-display side of body. ?? Haven’t tried removing it just yet.)
Dance’n Prance Tap Dancer (needs a bath! Still works!)
TE Locket (Probably the worst off in my collection right now, poor girl -- pen marking on nondisplay side, front lock trimmed, tail is on dry side!)
Napper (What a beauty! Regular version -- with original lipstick she came with! Don’t ask me to try it..LOL.)
Regular Twinkler (What a beauty! To Hannah from Mom and date purchased permanent marker under her hoofs, haven’t tried removing this just yet, but I don’t know if I want to..hehe.)
Skyflier (What a beauty! Needs a bath!)
Secret Surprise Pony Secret Beauty (With key, what a beauty!)
WW Starry Wings (I cleaned her recently, some red crayon markings lightened up with Mr. Clean ME.)
SW Glow (What a beauty! She could use a gentle bath, but I’m not touching her.)
Boysenberry Pie (What a beauty! A darker shade too! Is this anything significant or just how she was made?? Her plastic has become hard though, any way(s) to help with this?)
Baby Surprise (Slight symbol rub on display side, slight glitter loss on nondisplay side, but barely noticeable.. I cleaned her recently -- I got her FREE at a 1990s garage sale, with tail rust..lol. It has come up a lot with toothpaste treatments, but I haven’t fixed her yet, and I’m afraid to do it myself! She could use another trip to the pony salon; her hair towards the ends is on the dry side.)
I also have the aqua blue duck comb for Baby Pockets and a sheer MLP “blanket” that was part of an outfit originally purchased for Gusty a long time ago. :-P

In Special Area ‘Barn Stable’ ;-)
Bowtie (What a beauty -- long hair version! I cleaned her recently and took some clear glue substance off of her ear. Some yellow play wear marks on her ears, I think the glue discolored the tips?, who knows how long it had been on her.. One bowtie on each side is slightly rubbed – on the insides, not border, but barely noticeable. One was like that when I purchased her, the other I did when cleaning her.. I was kicking myself!! But it’s on the nondisplay side, so I got over it, sort of..lol)
Apple Jack (What a beauty -- short hair version! A couple of apples have super tiny rubs, but barely noticeable, and I’m OK with it!)
FF Blossom (What a beauty! Some symbol wear (hairline scratches) here and there on some of her flowers, but no biggie to me. Needs a bath, but I don’t want to mess with her..lol.)
SS Fifi (What a beauty! Only thing I found wrong with her when I got her is slight flocking loss on the tip of her horn..)

Hi medleymayhem, thank you for the welcome! :lovey: Haha, your name is awesome.. Yes, I definitely agree -- they do! Why is that?! ^.^ :frolic: I think my favorite set of ponies are the TEs.. To me, it's because of their colors.. My favorite as a kid was of course Sweet Stuff, close second was Fizzy. :)

Amazing! Congrats on all your new beauties. Auctions are both exciting and draining to me.. I would be freaking out about the bids and whether or not I'm going to win, that's why I've only done one - so far...LOL. >_<

Hello, Hanna725! Welcome to the Arena!

Hiya fellow Texan! Medley is such a great first pony, and I'm happy you're able to get Sweet Stuff again. I hope you'll be able to find the last three soon! Someone around here just might have them for sale. Enjoy the forums!

Thank you, Bekuno! :lovey: YAY HAY for Texas MLP lovers! I'm glad I found out about the arena.. already have learned alot! I love Medley, as well as Sweet Stuff, they have a special MLP place in my heart, for sure. The only other "special" pony for me if I had to pick a third, would be SS Magic Star..I remember actually petting him (yes, "she" was a "he" to me LOL) like a real horse because I loved the flocking :P).

I loved reading your intro! Long hair medley has only been recently added to my own herd, I only had the short hair version as a child, but I really couldn't part with the long hair once I found her! I hope you enjoy the arena!!

Hi Cass! Thank you for the welcome. :lovey: I didn't know there were short-haired and long-haired versions of her, and a few other ponies, until here recently! You learn something new everyday.. And I'm so very glad my Bowtie didn't have mold on her! Note to self: Next time, don't wait so long to clean bathroom.

Thank you for the info, Hathorcat and SkyCakes! :lovey: :newpony: This is good to know and makes me excited as I do have Glow, Starry Wings, Baby Sandcastle & Shovels.. as well as Chief (no accessories, and he has his front lock trimmed and a slight symbol rub, but still nice. He was actually my brother's pony that I adopted...lol.) I had Baby Pockets and Hoppy, but lost them... They are on my want list though.  ^.^  I definitely will post a photo in the pony brag section soon. :)

Ahh.. this reminds me of a 'store story' back in the day... On a shopping trip (as any little MLP fan in the '80s would) I wanted Yum Yum and a few other TAF ponies.. as well as some of the Sweetberry Ponies..(they had just come out). My mom told me, Ok, Hannah - You can just pick one! I couldn't of course and threw a hissy fit.. So she's like OK, Hannah -- You better pick one or you're not getting any pony today.. I was torn between Yum Yum and BP and ended up with Boysenberry Pie (because purple was/is my favorite color..lol). Years later, I actually ended up with a second BP in a group buy. haha. Now I wonder what it would be like to own all those TAF ponies I wanted but never got. :yikes: :whoa:

It would perhaps be easier if you were to post a picture or a list of who you have and we can let you know values from there :)

The easiest rule for G1 is pretty much any Mail Order (which did not have a similar store release) is going to be in the "most sought after/most expensive category".

From store bought US ponies you have Red Roses, Diamond Dreams, Crumpet, Angel, Lemon Treats, any Big Brothers, summer & windy wings, the second set of TAF ponies, Sandcastle/Shovels, the second set of sea ponies, the second set of pony pals, the pretty pals, Baby Leaper and Baby Racer. And many more no doubt :)

I was never the kid to collect the little mail order things for ponies.. I did however make one MO deal, that was for the little pink bracelet for the MLP charms.. I had a ton of them.. :)

I would love to know more about G1s and their value... In particular, which ones are the most sought after, the most valuable, etc. This would only be for the top 10 (?) G1 Adults and Babies. I know about Mimic, and a few others, most recently mail order Scoops... anything anyone wants to share is welcome! Thanks. :)  - - I plan to post a picture of my collection because I've always wanted to know if I have any "hidden gems" / special ponies..even though I know all of them are special to me..hehe.

Hi and welcome to the Arena

For some reason I never appreciated Medley when I was a child.  Now that I'm collecting as an adult though I think she is so pretty.  :lovey:

Enjoy the forums :D

Thank you, kiwimlp!  :lovey: I played with Medley alot -- She looks pretty good for being a well-played with pony.. lol. But I took my Sweet Stuff with me everywhere - I mean *everywhere*!! She was my special friend. My grandma (mom's mom) bought her for me (I think) as a birthday present.. "Sweet" was my nickname from Grandma, who was a special person to me growing up. So SS's always been a special pony to me.  :frolic:

Welcome to the Arena! Great introduction. How lovely to still have your childhood ponies and I bet your collection is all the more special for being so specific for you :)

Have fun!

Thank you, hathorcat! I appreciate the kind words. :lovey: I'm so glad I found the arena! I learned about it via a MLP Facebook group.  :good: :frolic:

Pony Corral / Re: how to remove mark off Gusty?
« on: May 30, 2015, 11:07:06 AM »
Yep, I agree as well! The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser has worked wonders! It takes up permanent marker well, just takes patience and some light force. Old crayon marks don't come up as easy..but it does fade them significantly. I haven't tried the sunning thing on any of my ponies just yet, but I've read it's great to lighten up the marks further. :)

Pony Corral / Re: So why do /you/ collect ponies?
« on: May 30, 2015, 11:01:13 AM »
I collect '80s toys in general, and most of my collections started with the toys from my childhood -- My Little Pony, Care Bears, She-Ra, Strawberry Shortcake, Rainbow Brite.. Alot of them got lost / ruined through the years, but thankfully, most of my MLPs and She-Ra dolls have been hanging out with me since the beginning. :)
