Bumping for buying, just recently got a promotion at work and bumped up to full-time, I'm nervous but excited and ready to purchase a few ponies.

Alas, sounds like the mechanism is broken then, it's meant to turn on it's own after being wound.  Ah well, it happens with these girls, unfortunately.  Still though, sounds like she should still clean up.  Worth a go in that regard.

Personally I like the very 80s nature of this line (in colors, symbols, and theme).

With the Dance and Prance Ponies, their manes and tails are relatively on the shorter side like many of the earlier ponies (also probably to keep from getting caught in the mechanism, and it's a bit hard to tell from the photo but it looks like hers has not been cut.  It's hard to tell, but I think once you condition and comb her hair, it looks like the fibers are still pretty nice and shiny, and look like they might straighten out alright.  Careful to not get water in her while treating her hair, the spring that winds the tail is metal and will rust.

Does her mechanism still work?

I have Swinger from the same series from my childhood, and her mane has not been cut.  I think the mane lengths were the same on all of the ponies in the series:

Oh!  And a wiki link to the series if you like:

Hnnng, so rare, so much want!  Honestly Rama's going to command a very high price indeed, I'm not sure there's even a good basis for a starting point.  Pics!  Pics!  Pics!

Want want want!  She's one of the very few ponies I have on my wishlist (I'm just looking for a few G1s I didn't have as a kid).  She's so pretty and I love how unique her markings are.

Pearly baby Moondreamer (Moondancer?) has always been a favorite of mine.  I remember saving pony points to order both her and baby firefly (with my mum's help of course, I was very young).

Poor Midnight Dream was not in very good condition when I got her.  All kinds of symbol rubs and frizzy cut hair.

Dream Blue has also seen better days.  Someone has already de-tinsled her hair prior to my owning her (she came in a lot), I think I might do the same to her tail to match her up (there's not much left in any case).

Love Wishes has great color harmony.  I had gotten her lot with intention to customize, but I'm having a lot of second thoughts about it.

Hah!  What a wonderfully clever idea.  I love it!  Nice execution too, if you do keep going on it, it's going to be a great set.

Sounds too complicated :l I wish they were just sold on eBay. .. is anybody willing to order for me and I can pay em back this up coming Friday? :) (which is my payday)

Looks like they've popped up in an American version of the store now too, all you need to do is purchase them from here:

I would do so quickly, as they seem to go up and down pretty easily.  Aliexpress functions like any other online shop, and signing up is easy.  They take all major credit cards.  (... I sound like I'm advertizing... really I just want to help anyone get these who wants them.  They're really adorable and I'd hate to see them be scarce only because ordering was difficult).
your link keeps taking me to the Russian site :(

There's a link in the upper right hand corner that says 'Go to Global Site' that should take care of that.

Oh, if only I had the money to waste on buying the minimum order of 1,000 XD

Oh no those are so cute.  Almost tempting to do a split up order here to get them.  I think I like the ones at the first link best.

I'm wondering if these will be Comic Con exclusives, it would certainly fit the theme.

I really love this whole set.  Only Ringlet is on my 'want' list, but I wouldn't mind having the full set some long day down the road.

I'm really digging these so far.  I might actually be tempted.

anybody know anything about these cute flocked fakies? http://lotsoftinythings.tumblr.com/post/109416781186/i-found-these-ponies-online-and-im-genuinely-kind

I really want these. D: If anyone finds out any info on them let us know!

They can be purchased here:

http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/8pcs-lot-Germany-genuine-5-7cm-flocking-Filly-Princess-little-ponies-Rainbow-Horses-Classic-Collection/1500272_32273489016.html

My order on these just arrived (they're super cute), but bad news, it looks like the American front of the store where they were being sold has been completely emptied.  They were selling a lot of Hasbro and Simba and other fakies, and I'm going to guess they were shut down for the time being by the corporations they were ripping toys off of (just my theory).  I think some people had success finding more on Ebay.

They have no makers marks and are sent in a 'fillies' printed bag, but are pretty obviously not from that line.

HOWEVER, it looks like they are still available in other countries through Aliexpress

France: http://fr.aliexpress.com/store/product/8pcs-set-5-7cm-Limited-Collector-s-Edition-Genuine-MLP-Filly-dolls-High-quality-flocking-colt/423495_32233306834.html

Russia: http://ru.aliexpress.com/store/product/8pcs-set-5-7cm-Limited-Collector-s-Edition-Genuine-MLP-Filly-dolls-High-quality-flocking-colt/423495_32233306834.html

Thailand: http://th.aliexpress.com/item/8pcs-set-5-7cm-Limited-Collector-s-Edition-Genuine-MLP-Filly-dolls-High-quality-flocking-colt/32233306834.html

Now, from my own experience, one can set up an Aliexpress account, and have these items shipped to the United States IF it is possible for the seller to do so, even when shopping on non-US Aliexpress sites.  In the case of these little guys they all ship from China and can be shipped directly to the US.  To make things work all you would need to do would be to add the item to your cart, and if you did not want to check out in french/russian/thai, you would need to get yourself back into English on the site (by clicking a link to a US shop seems to be the easiest way) and then check out as normal.  The items will stay in your cart even if you head offsite for some time, so long as they are still available from the seller.

I know this may sound a bit tricky, if anyone wants further help, just shoot me a message.  Legality-wise, I'm not sure what kind of ground this is on, I mean, they're pretty obviously not fakies of Hasbro or Simba, but they're being marketed as such, which is weird, as they're so cute on their own.

EDITED TO ADD:

They are available in an American front of the shop here too:

These are absolutely stunning!!!  Great work especially since they're your first!  :dropjaw:
I sorta want to get into custom making but I am afraid to start...got any tips?

Oh man advice?  I mean I've read a lot and I've been around MLP a long time but customizing is pretty new to me too.  Buuuut some good sources of information are:

http://www.mlppreservationproject.com/index.html - Great overall info on what you're working with, how ponies are put together, and how to restore.

http://sanjana.nilut.com/mlp/Tutorials/Prepping%20Bait/prep.html - Great info on prepping a bait.

http://ponycustoms.com/ - Great re-hairing tutorials

There's more links in one of the sticky threads at the top of this board set here: http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,283445.0.html

Personal recommendations from this experience (and from cleaning and restoring ponies)?

- Use acetone to remove symbols/eyes, or pure acetone nail polish remover.  No other nail polish remover works as well.
- If the hair in a pony's head won't come out (particularly those stubborn forelock plugs), boiling the head and then pushing down hard on the forehead can help disconnect the glue.
- Do not try to remove the full weft of hair, tape wefts of hair (to save them for later) then cut them short before removing the plugs from the head.
- Magic Erasers are great for removing any and all surface dirt, even when things seem ground in you might be surprised.
- Tiny brushes are critical for repainting symbols, I am using this 6 piece set http://www.dickblick.com/products/princeton-series-3050-mini-brushes/ which I like very well and also use for other projects involving detailed painting (I'm working on a Monster High Neightan Rot mod that's coming along fantastically well with a lot of fiddly details).

Hm... that's all I can think of off the top of my head... If you have any particular questions on what I was doing specifically, I'll answer best I can!
- If you do want to do the fake whipped cream look (on ponies or anything else) I recommend white silicone sealant (for doors and windows) placed in a piping bag.  It behaves similarly (to the best of my knowledge) to 'Whipple' and other branded 'deco' supplies and is much less expensive.

In addition to all of these, flea markets can be a good bet if you're in a big enough city, where I'm from they're usually on weekends.
