Pass!  I'm not big on purple unless it's with another color (like yellow, imho) that really makes it stand out.  All that purple, yuck.  Also I lost interest in the G3s once these poses with the turning heads came out, like the post-2007 or so ones... so I don't even like her pose.  Too bad, because I love stars.

Pony Corral / Re: Anyone here with pony Tumblrs?

I run g1mlp and g3mlp on Tumblr! I do occasionally post G1/3 stuff on my personal, but there's so much other stuff there, and I don't tag my personal much, that it's not worth following just for ponies XD

Thank you for this thread, I'm always looking for more Tumblrs to reblog from for my MLP FYs! :3
(especially g3mlp, since it's harder to find nice G3 stuff than G1 stuff these days)

I went with "let me think a bit more" but I don't much want her. She's fine, but doesn't ~speak to me~. I don't often like blue/purple together, so I'm sure that's part of it.

Off Topic / Re: Karma
« on: August 12, 2013, 10:54:45 AM »
I think it's a grossly misunderstood religious concept that people have taken for meanspirited 'they'll get theirs'. Not that the original 'they live this life because of their past existence' is exactly flowers and sunshine, BUT YOU KNOW. It's not immediate.

From what I understand, that's not entirely it, either. But you're absolutely right that it's just a term that new-agers took from an "exotic" religion and appropriated it to suit what they wanted it to mean. Karma is part of a larger cause and effect concept. I read a good blog post about this from a Hindu raised in the actual culture, but I can't seem to find it now. She gave an example something like, if you jump out of a window, that's the action. Hitting the ground below and getting injured/killed, that's the effect of the action. Karma is part of that relationship. Wikipedia's definition at the top does sum up what she said though:

"the concept of "action" or "deed", understood as that which causes the entire cycle of cause and effect (i.e., the cycle called saṃsāra)"

Karma is not the bad energy you put out coming back to you and it's not just doing good in this life to have a better next life, though I believe it's connected to that? I'm not sure. Skim the Wikipedia article on it. I'm sure it doesn't cover everything perfectly but at least it's an education in this term that's been taken way out of context.

I chose Other but I mostly drink:
  • a Monster energy drink knockoff at Aldi, it's the only energy drink I like!
  • water, usually bottled lately because we need to get a new filter
  • coffee when I am not too lazy to make it...
  • smoothies, usually banana/frozen fruit/milk/yogurt/protein powder. I have one almost every day since I have chronic low blood sugar, and they keep it up!

Aaahh I love some of these you guys!

I draw but have never gotten the hang of ponies. Never been good with animals. But here's some that I've done. I could only find two of actual Hasbro ponies, from like 2004...

Off Topic / Re: Did you "Abuse" Your Toys?
« on: August 08, 2013, 10:30:46 AM »
I was always really good to my toys for the most part. I mean, I took my ponies in the bath, but who knew that was bad for them? I did put masking tape around their legs when they "broke" them, as a cast (in fact, my Pony Bride still had one on her leg when I first took them out of storage!). And on my Jasmine "barbie", once I tried putting nail polish on her as eye makeup, then when I wiped it off (right away), it took some of her eye paint with it D: But other than that, I was good to my toys. My ponies had some frizz but no haircuts or the absolutely WILD standing up straight and full of knots hair that I see on kids' ponies. o_o;;

My parents never MADE me get rid of my toys. When I was in high school, they did ask me and my sister to go through our stuffed animals and get rid of ones we didn't want to keep. They'd been in storage in the crawlspace so it was an annual ordeal for a couple of years. We kept a lot more than we got rid of though... It was usually pretty hard. But I think the only toy that my mom gave away without asking was my Teddy Ruxpin, to my aunt who had little grandkids. I was in middle school when I found out and was kinda mad she didn't ask me.

She knew better than to touch things like my ponies though. ;)

I can understand not mentioning the scuffs on the hooves for a non-collector, absolutely, but to not mention bites in anything you're selling, that's a little much to me! How can you not think of that?

Pony Corral / Re: So how come Hasbro hates green?
« on: August 06, 2013, 10:21:44 PM »
I've heard that green-themed characters are often considered "weird" or "wacky" or somesuchthing. Maybe green-dominant characters end up being less marketable for some reason?

That's adorable. I love how serious she was. I remember being like that as a kid. We had disney characters painted on a wall in our elementary school and Jasmine's outfit was, like, a weird seafoam green. I always took issue with that. ;)

Off Topic / Re: I'm NOT a Hoarder! I'm NOT! Really!
« on: August 06, 2013, 11:41:53 AM »
For me, if it's a point that things have to be stored in those plastic bins. I have too much.

My grandma was a hoarder, except that's not what it was called back then-- it was "packrat". And quite honestly, I don't really care to end up like that. I don't want a houseful of "stuff", I don't even want a room full of "stuff".

There were multiple dumpsters full of stuff taken away from her house. And even worse, my dad took home things that could possible be collectable. Except he doesn't have time to look at it. And one day, that will be MY problem. I don't look forward to it.

But hey, well, sometimes I'm happy she was a hoarder because I got a vintage aluminum xmas tree out of it. ^///^

So, in that case, I don't want to own lots of stuff. Stuff that no one else but me cares about.

My grandmother was the same. She also bought things just to tick off my grandfather by spending money (like an entire plastic tote filled to the top with packages of jingle bells. I mean, she crafted but she never planned on using those!). We did the dumpster thing too. Filled it a couple of times, actually. I got my main MLP shelf from her house though, so there's that.

I try not to be a packrat. But I'm materialistic and sentimental. So I see something cute, usually a knick knack sort of thing, give in, then can't get rid of it because it's so cute. Even though I packed it away for two years and didn't think of it until we moved! I only managed to get rid of about a dozen shirts that I haven't fit in for over four years; the rest I like too much even though I'd have to really discipline myself to lose the weight to fit into them again (I eat pretty good but hate exercise, so it's rather unlikely). I still have about twenty shirts I couldn't part with. :\

Same with mugs and dishes. I don't need them BUT THEY'RE SO NICE I could use them!!

I can't ever pick one... Boober, Wembley and Red are my favorites if I had to choose!

@EmberBright, I LOVE A Muppet Family Christmas. We have it on a beat-up VHS somewhere at my parents' house. My mom had taped it off the TV.

Pony Corral / Re: What's the last thing you bought/received?
« on: August 06, 2013, 11:32:36 AM »
It's been quiiiite a while since I received a pony. I usually only buy them in little spurts during the year. But since I'm currently in one of those spurts right now, I bought a pony the other night. Flurry! I've always wanted her. I was going to buy two ponies, but decided on just her.
