nope lol I was a sickly kid rofl which is funny because being sick so much as a kid i think built up my immunity pretty good because i hardly ever get sick now lol, MAYBE once a year xD.
anyway I was always having blood taken and getting shots, Im sure i was afraid of them at some point but i dont remember it now. Also my moms a lab tech at a blood bank (shes the one that fiddles with the blood ni the back to separate it and make it useful for hospitals) but its meant that as soon as i was old enough iv always donated blood, unless im being anemic or something lol. not to mention piercings and tattoos, yeah it would be silly if i had a fear of those things. :p

To help cope, i dunno for me I always preferred to watch what was going on, but for my son whos not so fond of needles and blood (it makes him physically sick to see a lot of blood) he looks away, or ill hug him or squeeze his other hand a little bit to make him focus on that instead.. of course those are all kid remides lol im not really sure how to help an adult, maybe you could bring a friend or loved one along?

Well, I'm not really an adult yet(funny how you should say I am a day before my 17th birthday ha ha), but distraction goes a long way for everybody I think.
A lot of adults I know don't mind using hand squeezes or those numbing creams.

I have no problem with needles, but my sister finds them unnerving & I try to take that into account when We talk or watch stuff together.

Recently my older cat was diagnosed with diabetes & I found out my younger cat is terrified of needles! He scrunched himself into a corner wearing his 'ow, it burns' face & started making little gaggy sounds when I prepared shots for the other cat, so I make sure he's otherwise occupied at injection time now. Take heart, we're not the only species that gets nervy around pointy objects!

This makes me feel a lot better too. :>
Cats are the best thing.

Well, I'm not afraid of needles so I don't have advice in that sense, what I can say is that it's a tiny little pinch and it's over before you know it. If you're scared of needles it's probably best if you try to look away and think about things that make you happy, or perhaps focus on a poster or picture in the doctors office.

Personally I prefer getting blood drawn as opposed to getting a shot, but that's just me :)

Exactly! Last time this happened to me, the nurse doing the procedure said she liked my Pinkie Pie shirt.
I was so caught up in talking about ponies that I totally forgot I was even in a doctor's office.

So, I'm the biggest baby in the entire galaxy and I need some serious comfort before my check-up today. How many of you guys are afraid of needles? If so, how do you cope?

I know this is a common fear and I know that in the end, it's for my own good and not that big of a deal. Still the pain that comes with it is enough to stress me out.
I always try to stay distracted during these types of things. Talking helps a lot.

I'm both very picky and really, really strange when it comes to food.

For example...mashed potatoes. I only really like the instant kind. Especially when topped with ketchup, baked beans, corn, or peas.

Also mac n' cheese with baked beans and peas. <3 yes.

No problem. I turned out fine. Just had a problem in my life at the time that had to be gotten rid of. It all worked out in the end. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. Right? :)

Yeah I suppose so. <3

I remember when MLP first came out (Yes, I'm old) and my sisters went crazy for it. I played with their toys and watched the cartoon and movie with them but as a little boy in the 80s it wasn't really acceptable for me to say I liked it in my house. As we grew older my sisters moved on from MLP but I still enjoyed it and remember watching My Little Pony Tales in secret so as not to get tormented or beaten (yeah, had that kind of "dad"). After that, I moved onto other things and never really thought about MLP again until my wife started collecting Friendship is Magic toys and it rekindled my old love for it. Since then I have discovered Gen 3 and enjoy buying well loved ponies and restoring them for our collection. My son loves MLP very much and I encourage him to enjoy it without fear of ridicule. People ask me why I allow it or if he's a "sissy" and have had people warn me that it will "turn him gay" but I don't care. I want him to be who he is, enjoy what he wants and never worry about what people think about his passions. :)

Wow, I really apologize for that and the fact that I can't voice my opinions on the matter.

I'm very lucky to have supportive parents.

My dad and I are currently sitting around talking about a lot of stuff, but one of the topics has been ponies. Specifically, childhood ponies.

Now I know most of you guys grew up with G1 and let me tell you, I am extremely jealous. But I grew up with G2 and G3.
Sitting next to me are my 3 childhood ponies. Strawberry Swirl, Mcdonalds!Sparkleworks and Mcdonalds!G3!Pinkie Pie.

It made me wonder about how everybody thought of MLP when they were kids. I know that when I was in the first grade, I had to do an assignment
that involved talking about our fears. Since little Aura didn't think she was scared of anything, she decided to make something up related to her need to reject gender roles. So she put My Little Pony. (I still had the three listed above but I don't think I cared much anymore)

But what did you guys think? Did you love ponies, hate them, or have neutral feelings?

Redwildflower only collects bbe ponies.  She has painted them on her walls and has a Baby Frosting costume she plans on wearing to her best friend's wedding.

I would totally do this!

Katja die Tediz told me that rice crispies make the best packing materials.....

I still stand by this.

But only because the thing UrocyonFox wanted to pack were all glass horse sculptures. Talk about fragile!

Awww, that's extremely sweet.

Thank you!

I'm not an expert either, but from what I seen on Ebay, probably the ones from Rescue at the Midnight Castle.
