Customs / Re: Gauging Interest: Plushie Swap

Oy! If it's not one thing, it's another! :( I have been sick since Tuesday, and then last night my husband came home from work with what I had. And we're moving in 9 days! :/ I have a lot of catching up to do with online stuff since I sell on eBay and Etsy. I will try to PM a mod about sign-ups ASAP.

I will post a separate thread for sign-ups.

Great! Sounds like we'll be good to go for an April sign-up date. I will warn you, I'm still in the middle of moving... we're moving into our new place for mid-April! But I will still have time to get the sign-ups done.

After Easter is over I will PM one of the mods to make it official. :)

Okay, well, I certainly don't mind waiting a bit since we're still trying to pack and move out of here! How about we shoot for the beginning of April for starting sign-ups?

Thank you, Uninu, for giving me a nudge about the swap... I haven't forgotten about it, it's just that my husband and I are in the middle of moving into a new apartment so I haven't had a lot of time for the Arena. :/

I do still want to host though, and it looks like we have a lot of people interested... so I guess all I need to do is PM one of the mods and then we can start taking sign-ups! Hopefully there will be a sign-up thread opening up this weekend if that sounds good for everyone. :)

Feel free to post up any patterns you have! I will include them in the official post.

Skeen, last time we had a working time of 3 months, which seemed to work pretty well for everyone. I hand-sewed my plushie too the last time! I have a machine now though.

Yes, needle-felting will be allowed too. :)

I will include questions about what people want/don't want, and I will try my best to pair everyone up accordingly. But I don't think it will be quite as detailed as your list, emuel... I'll probably just ask for the basics like "Do you want a crocheted pony?" and "Is needle-felting okay?" I do like asking about the stitched on eyes/other parts though! I personally don't care for those iron transfer or painted eyes-- just seems like they won't last very long, you know?

As for patterns, yes, I think anything horse-shaped would be fine. Many people in the last Plushie Swap used their own patterns, which weren't necessarily Hasbro-based. I will also try in the first post on the official thread to link to patterns for people to use, either free or for purchase. Thanks to G4 I think there are more out there than there were the last time we did this swap! So that's a good thing at least. :)

I'm glad to see some interest in the swap! :)

Yes, crochet/amigurumi would be allowed again.

As for the categories, that's the part I'm still not sure of... I was initially thinking G4 should have its own category, since it's so popular for plushie making, and G4 folks might not want to make other generations, or might not be familiar with them. But several of you have made a good point about separating by skill level (like Beginner vs. Experienced). I would certainly love to include people who haven't made plushies before... there were some people who were new to plushie making in the last swap, and everyone did a great job! So no, you don't need to have made a plushie before... as long as you have enough feedback (and aren't in too many other swaps, of course) you will be welcome to join the swap. And I will keep pondering the categories. :)

Last time we had a working time of 3 months, which seemed to work for everyone... if there is enough interest I will probably open up sign-ups sometime in early to mid February.

*joins in the drooling over that box* I'm a big fan of accessories too, especially G1 stuff... I would love to one day have all of the ponies in my collection complete with all their original accessories! I have a couple of those little mini plastic storage drawers stuffed with labeled baggies, so you're definitely not alone. :)

Oh, and here's a little tip: check out a craft store (or Wal-mart's craft section). They have these smaller plastic baggies for beads or jewelry that are really great for keeping smaller accessories like brushes and combs in them.

Customs / Gauging Interest: Plushie Swap
« on: January 28, 2013, 06:41:32 PM »
About two years ago I hosted a Plushie Swap on the old version of the Arena... since that time, pony plushie making has absolutely exploded. I thought I might like to host a second Plushie Swap, if enough people are interested.

During the first Plushie Swap, I separated the categories by size. I believe this time, I would like to try to separate by generation. G4-inspired plushies would have their own separate category, and G1-G3-inspired plushies would be the second category. Like the last time, people would be welcome to join both categories if they wished.

This won't be a newbie swap though... I will expect good feedback from all participants, especially since plushie making is such a big thing right now.

But anyway, if anyone is interested, please post! :) Or if you have any questions, let me know.

Hello, everyone! :) There is a pony that I would like to buy from eBay but the seller only ships within Germany, and I live in the US... would anyone from Germany be willing to have the pony shipped to their address, and then mail it on to me? Please PM me if you can help! I will of course pay for the shipping and all other costs. Thank you very much!

For Trade / MIB Comic Con Ditzy Doo for trade!
« on: August 11, 2012, 11:13:41 AM »
Hi everyone! I have a MIB Ditzy Doo for trade. I would love to trade her for something HTF on my want list like Mimic or Ice Crystal or something of comparable value:

http://mlpwantlist.weebly.com/

Or I will consider trading her for multiple common things on my list. I mostly collect G1's but I also have some G2, G3, and even G4 wants. I also collect Applejacks (G1/G4) and vintage Strawberry Shortcake dolls.

I live in the US but I will ship worldwide.

She is not for sale, she is only for trade for things on my want list, so please do not ask me to sell her. Also, please PM me instead of posting on the thread, because chances are I won't see it.

Best trade offer gets her!  Thanks for looking! :)

Pony Corral / Re: Seriously damaged ponies

Aww... poor Cool Breeze! I hope you can restore her-- her body looks like it's in pretty good shape so you could probably get her rehaired... and I know that it's possible to make replacement wings for the Wingers, although I've never tried it.

As for rescuing sad-looking ponies, yes! I will buy any pony I see at a thrift store or flea market as long as the price is right... like, I wouldn't pay mint prices for a poor condition pony, but if it was cheap I would definitely get it. I'm glad you did rescue that Cool Breeze-- even if you can't restore her, I'm sure you could sell her to someone else who could.

That's a really nice little display there! You have a good eye-- it fits the blind bags perfectly. :) I hope you can find someone else who can copy the style for you for the rest of the set!
