Pony Corral / Tell me about first tooth babies from spain
« on: July 30, 2018, 08:39:37 AM »
I have a MOC baby Fifi on spanish card, that i want to know more about.
I have seen the dutch carded ft ponies, with only a toothbrush but this has both toothbrush and toothpaste, ribbon and a comb, so more accessories then the dutch carded ones, but less then the usuall boxed ones.
Is this how they where sold in Spain or did they have the boxed version as well? When thinking of it, I dont think I have seen any MIBs in spanish either.

There is no backside on the card, so not much information given there, no years, no distributor or anything. The baby itself is regular HK made though.

Anyone know anything about these, that can lighten me up please? :)

Wow, what a find! :O

Is there any other differences in them, then the blue streak on ice crystal, or do they look  the same as the regular ones?

They look very similar, there are slight differences in body colour and texture.

Love pkw xxx

Thanks :) Then I guess it is hard to spot if you dont look closely ^^
Anyone have comparision photos?

Pony Corral / How do you display..?
« on: May 29, 2018, 08:05:22 AM »
I have a little problem with how I should display my ponies where different ponies have the same accessories.  Ok if it just a comb or brush, then they will get their own, but for example the Play n Care babies and their BBE counterparts, the ponies are different, but the acessories are the same.  It feels a litle over the top to have two setups of the same accessories for each pony, so I'm thinking that (If I get the BBE versions at all, that is :P ) that they may share the accessories between them.

How have you solved this? And what are your thought about it?
Pictures of displays are always welcome :P

Pony Corral / Re: What were your pony misconceptions?

When I was a kid I thought Sundance was a boy. I think I thought the pose was more "boyish" than the three other ponies I had in the Posey pose and that the name sounded male. English is not my first language so of course I had no idea what Sundance meant either. To me it was just a weird sounding name.

I had the same with Firefly and Applejack. My babies where both males (didnt have the adults) I think my baby Glory was male too. I think with Glory and Firefly it was probably due to the blue in the hair, and with applejack, I assume it was because of the name Jack. :P
So I'll add this one even though I don't consider this a misperception so much as a difference in perception.  Medley was my first ever pony and I've always considered her as blue.  Really she is an in-between-sort of teal but everyone else seems to label her as green.  But I would label her as blue.  A pastel teal-y blue.
I think of her as blue too. Her shade is a bit green, but it is still blue to me!

She looks blue to me too.

OH, good!  I'm glad I'm not the only one then.

I think of her as green, but much of the merchandise she is more blueish with green hair, so I guess it is not wrong to call her blue, as it seems that she might have been intended to be somewhat blue.

Pony Corral / Re: Who's your favorite pony?

Oh, I probably change my mind everytime someone asks :P It is so hard to just pick one! But I think I'll go with Cherry Treats. I just love her vibrant red hair, that goes so well with her white body. And the bowl of cherries just adds the right amount of green to comlete her appearence. And of course the fruit theme is a part to why I love her, and the whole set of sweetberry ponies. :)

Oh, I LOVE the first years of pony releases. It is the later ones I have problems with :P

Like the 7 Tales ponies. I never understood the hype about them. I dont really like their colours (Just Clover, she is nice), but I guess that is because I had become a teenager at the time the show was airing, so I wasnt that into ponies then. ^^

Hi Lekin

Ok cool, thanks :) Yes, I used the wiki variants as I always thought that's what people were referring to :D

Ok let me try to describe them rather. My Parasol does not have lumo yellow in her hair and Moonstone's leg is not raised? I hope that is okay?

The wiki variant thing is rather new, but I have seen some people started using it as describing variants, in ebay listings for example. It is just that I'm lazy and dont want to have to look anything up if I dont have to :lookround:  I prefer the describing way, but who knows, the variant numbering might be the next thing to identify by, although I really hope not :P

Parasol and Moonstone are both Variant 1 :)

Are you referring to the variant numbering on the wiki?  I dont think that the numbering are supposed to use as determing to as which variant a pony is, just random numbers. As the numbering might change during time, and those something that is known as variant one for one person, might be known as variant 5 to another, depending on when you learned them.
Otherwise it is always necesery to check the wiki so you know the correct variant someone is talking about.

I prefer the pose variant naming or similar, as it is a describing name that will not change, and thus you dont need to check on another website to know which one someone is talking about.
I understand that it is not always easy to know what different poses are called :P but you can always describe it as the name of another pony that has the same pose :)

I dont mean to sound patronizing or so, but just raise my 2 cents about the use of the wiki varaint numbering. It is just my preference, as I think it is a troublesome way to use it, and of course you can do as you like :)

I think my most expensive was MIB Play n Care baby Lickety Split. I had her as a child, and I really really wanted her. It's over 10 years ago, and I have only seen one more MIB for sale since, and my was in pristine condition, so I'm still very happy with her :)

The pony that brought me to a smaller financial crisis was my MOC spanish baby Lemon Drop. Not my most expensive, but I had bought a car at the same time, so I hadnt adjust my budget for the extra costs of gas and payments for the loan. And of course she arrived broken. It has been one of my greatest grails almost since I started collecting, and I was heartbroken when she arrived. :(

Most expensive ponybuy though, is, although cheap per pony, a lot of money to spend at one time.  It was 14 MOC/MIB, and a bunch of MOC clothing, including MIB Princess Amber with dragon. But at that time, I had money saved, so at least no financial crisis afterwards. :P

Pony Corral / Re: Majesty versions, help!
« on: May 20, 2018, 11:52:21 PM »
Was your Majesty in the pink castle or the purple castle?

So, I follow various pony people on Tumblr and someone posted a picture of their MO and regular Majestys (that had the hairline difference).

Something I noticed was that Majesty ALSO had a difference in the shape of her eye pupil (the black part in her eye).  It was similar to the differences you see between the Big Head and Small Head flutter ponies, or between the China and Hong Kong sets of wingers.  I don't know if that is an additional point that might be used to ID regular versus MO Majestys, but I think it's worth looking into.

Especially since, if that IS a legitimate difference, it might help ID the rest of the MO set--Lemon Drop, Tiddly Winks, etc.

Here is the post in question:

http://heckyeahponyscans.tumblr.com/post/173595751559

As you can see, regular Majesty has an iris shaped like a thin crescent moon, while MO Majesty has an iris that is shaped more like a canoe. I don't know if this is a legitimate difference across the board, however, or if this just happened to be the case for these two ponies.  I think it would be interesting to see a bunch of Majesty headshots, to compare.

Seems like she has the white stripe on different side on those two?

Is it confirmed that the hairline is the way to tell mail order from regular apart?  I think I remember that at some point it was a discussion about this, and that several people stated they had the supposed MO varint from their childhood dreamcastles, so it couldnt really be confirmed that this was true.
