Pony Corral / Baby Applejack with yellow apples?
« on: June 21, 2018, 02:16:39 PM »
Soo... I spotted a G1 baby Applejack with yellow apples stamped Hong Kong on sale (before you get excited, the seller asks 200€ for her), and got curious as I had never seen this kind of variation. It seems any G1 info sites either don't acknowledge a variation like this! The colour does not imply certain fading: I found two images of a paler symbol baby Applejack, but the faded color was still obviously an orange. This is a bright yellow. The eyes are blue as well, wich might be fading or not, and the body tone is paler. Even if it is faded, she has a whole new color scheme compared to the original.
I'm not planning on buying it or anything, I'm just very curious. Does anyone know more about this odd variant, if she is one? Where does it originate from or is it a factory error? Maybe fading, or maybe one of a kind oddity? Maybe even a very rare variant like the Thai Mountain boys?

I can link the Instagram post if it is allowed later.

Here is the link, the pony is on the second image and forward. It is also sold by a long term collector wich, along with the symbols color and it being same color on both side and the bright blue eyes, makes me doubt it would be fading. The collector selling it has a huge collection, even mint on card nirvanas, so the person who came to conclusion it's a variant is a very experienced now former collector himself.
Edit: It might be fading or a variant. I would not close either chances.
Nonethless, it is a rather unique pony. I have not seen baby Applejacks with symbols that have faded to bright yellow instead of a more pale orange, AND eyes faded to a shade of turqoise AND a body faded to lighter tone.
Edit 2: after better images of the pony being added and long discussion, the possibilities are 60/50 on fading or error/variant.
Edit 3: If the images we are promised to get by monday don't change the direction of this mystery, she is almost certainly merely faded. A very beautifuly faded one, may I add.

Pony Corral / Re: Pony theories and headcanons?
« on: June 20, 2018, 01:00:13 PM »
I don't have any proper headcanons as I'm not into the MLP cartoons, but I do like making up stuff for my herd. One day I'll probably decide personalities for them too. :D The most important thing that I have decided is that North Star and Confetti are a couple (I never keep them on separated shelves!) and baby North Star is their filly. Baby Glory and Baby Surprise are good friends and play together a lot. I also consider ponies that came to me from the same collections as friends. I prefer thinking nirvanas as separate identities from the ponies they're based on and call them by their local names - I could never call Polly or Azul "Snuzzle and Blue Belle" anymore.
Also here's some starts for those personality headcanons:
Confetti is actualy a bit shy and quiet, also really into colours and the nature. She has a huge collection of differently colored plastic dishes. North Star I imagine as a slightly larger mare that's brave and very tomboyish, she has the manners of a true gentleman. She'd have unusualy deep voice. Azul Celeste is a bit difficult for other ponies to understand and very sassy, her sense of humour is a bit wicked. Star Hopper tries to desperately befriend and understand the small and strange Azul. Half Note twins (I have two Half Notes) are the loud neighbours that play old rock music on full volume at the wrong time of clock, Sand Digger has to deal living with them. Tex is the show off, trying to get all the mares to like him. Tickle is wiser and older than most other ponies, but stays playful despite her age. No-one really knows where Tootsie came from, or since when has she been living with Tulip - she sort of just appeared to the pony village one day.

MLP Nirvana / Re: Piggy ponies went to the Spa today!

Amazing collection! :o All in such beautiful conditions too, wow! I have never seen this many piggies at once.
Also I can definetly confirm there are still some Piggy variants for you to collect if you crave more ponies. Most have 3+ variants of them approximately.

Introductions / Introduction..?
« on: June 19, 2018, 12:20:41 PM »
Hello. A bit newer collector trying to find her way to these circles.
Basics would be that I'm an 18 year old girl from southern Finland. Naturaly, english is not my first language and on top of that I at times somehow skip words when writing, so sorry before hand for odd typos!
One of my few passions is old toys such as Pokemon cards, Digimon and Lion King plush toys, and of course, G1 My Little Ponies.
I never had ponies as a kid. I wasn't a big fan of girly toys expect for Littlest Petshops, and to top that LPS were cheaper than G3 My Little Ponies. Despite that I had Desert Rose and Secret Wishes as a child.
G1 MLPs came to my life a lot later in a bit of an odd manner: I was thrifting as usual back in 2016. I knew some old ponies were valuable and I had heard of nirvanas via mirage Pokemon plush info posts, so I tried to find rarities to sell forward. I managed to spot G1 Red Roses for an euro, and of course bought her. But it didn't really go as planned, after a few hours I was totaly in love with her! (And kept her)
After that I slowly started buying more ponies, and later on it became one of my main collections. I also fell in love with restoring these lovelies, I find it relaxing. Rerooting and mold removing I have still never tried, but plan to try stronger chemicals with a slightly moldy Remco fakie.
Nowadays I skip almost no pony while thrifting, and my collection stands at 40 brightly colored ponies, including even such rarities as Azul Celeste the piggy pony, Regentropfen, and the Surprise Twins ponys blue baby. I don't buy a lot online partly due to shipping costs, and over half of my collection consists of thrifting miracles. (Including all three listed before!)
Some of my favorite ponies from my own collection are Tex, Polly, Star Hopper (bought online unlike the rest listed), Azul Celeste, Northstar and Rain Feather. :) My dream ponies I probably never will achieve are mail order Star Hopper (lighter colored) and brazilian Truly!
A couple of G3s and their playsets have also found their way to my collection, but they aren't that imporant for me. I hope this goes for an introduction. ❤
