Again, who is losing money from the production of these plushies?
This is more of an issue of dilution of trademark.  (Which someone already mentioned.)  If they let her make plush toys without expressed permission, it weakens their claim to the trademarks.  I doubt she would try to make a claim of their trademarks, but its the slippery slope argument.  As for hiring her, there's more legal issues as Hasbro's vendors might squeak if they her on.

I'm still confused about the letter.  Going back to the law firm thing, large companies like Hasbro tend to have their own legal team, not retaining an outside law firm.  I could be wrong about Hasbro, but I grew up in a General Motors family and if we needed a lawyer we turned to GM Legal.  Also, I would think they would have sent the C&D straight to her, not Deviantart.  Because it's not directed to her, she's not legally bound to follow it.  They would have to go through the added expense to send her one.

i think what she meant was that was the first boy brushable made in a mold specifically for a boy pony. clever clover and the rest of those g2's were in molds made for the girl ponies.
I'M a dude.  Points to gender thingy.

Blue and white.  White goes with any mane, and I'm just a general fan of blue.

What I find interesting is it's a law firm contacting Deviantart.  Why wouldn't Hasbro contact her directly?  It's not like they don't know how if she's selling the plush.

Clever Clover, Prince Fauna, Prince Blue Dream and Prince Firefly do not agree with this. XD
You can tell I didn't follow G2 or G3 at all.

I agree, what is wrong with stuff being girly? I think Hasbro needs to broaden its definition of "girly". Princess ponies can talk about their manes and say wise things.
I agree.  They should make "girly" no longer a four letter word.  I think the show has done that.  Rarity and Fluttershy are definitely effeminate, but still strong characters loved by females and males alike.  The problem is many girly characters and toys live down to the stereotypes that have been attached to the word.

However, I think they could stand to be less tepid about the fact there are guy ponies.  Shining Armor is our first brushable male in more than twenty years.  I'm not suggesting a 1 to 1 ratio, but maybe a guy for every ten or so girls.

I can't really see G4 fading out for another few years, but I'm thinking it might be interesting for the next gen to appeal more towards older girls... with more action/adventure and graceful ponies. Maybe around the 9-10 year olds. (Though I don't know how competitive appealing to that age would be compared to really young children)
I see it this way.  Real little girls are looking at ponies on the shelf at the store thinking "Pretty pony. I want one."  They'll want their parents to buy a pony for them as long as its pretty.  I think Hasbro has taken this reality and gone in the wrong direction with it.  They've taken it to mean they don't have to care about quality and diversity as along as they make sure the ponies are cute.  However, it could also be taken to mean making a product that appeal to 9 or 10 year old girls wouldn't hurt them with the younger crowd because, again, "Pretty Pony."  Every pony sold is money in the bank for Hasbro, so attracting more customers is a good idea even if it's a little more expensive to make the product.  To think people get MBA's to not realize this.

Though, better quality and more diverse ponies would mean they would cost more to make.  They would need more molds, and better testing among other things.  That would mean ponies being more expensive to the consumer and they might fear pricing themselves out of the target demographic.  Perhaps they could do with MLP what they do with Transformers with different tiers of toys for different age groups.

From what I've read, I should send a spec script with my letter just to show I understand the screenplay format (or have a program that does it for me) as well as an ability to write characters, plot, situations, and humor.

This was brought on by some suggestions by people I go for the gusto after reading my current project MLP Legends.  It's a G1 retelling, so one of the scripts might make a good spec script since you're not supposed to send in a script of a similar series, but not the exact same series as you want to get into.  Think I might even know the perfect one.

Maybe snail mail would be a good option.  Someone would be more likely to actually see it.  Now to think of of how I want to word it.

I thought of contacting Hasbro directly.  However, I had e-mailed them asking very respectfully about the G1 license.  I've yet to hear back.  I fear if I offer my services by their e-mail accounts, it'll be lost in the electronic heap.

I would like to write pony.  So, I guess I should say I want to get in contact with Hasbro studios.

Thanks for the advice.  I have to admit I've been juggling whether or not to go to BronyCon because I might make connections there.

I'm trying to get in contact with Hasbro studios about becoming a writer.  I've been writing mock scripts for the fun of it, and people have comment on not just the quality of the characters and plots, but the professionalism of the scripts.  They've suggested I might do well becoming a professional.  Well, figuring I got nothing to lose and trying to find my place in the world, I thought I would give it a try.  However, I need to make contacts with Hasbro which means networking.

Anyone with the ear of anyone at the big H?  Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I think making toys of background ponies fans have latched onto is all the pandering the bronies need.

However, I think a proper rainbow logo and more stallions and colts as toys would be a good move.  There were plenty of boys back in G1.  It would make the brand a little more gender neutral while staying true to its spirit.  A more pony-like design to the toys and media would be good too.

I believe in original concept, Faust did want it to have a more adventure feel to it but I think Hasbro didn't want to go with that route for some reason. The closest thing we had to 'adventure' was the two part episodes of each season... sort of. I still for one feel that the show doesn't really follow the adventure that the G1 show had at times... I didn't get to watch too many of the original first gen episodes (not the pony tails episodes) but from some of them I've seen.. yeah there we need a bit more adventure in G4 xD
Don't forget, at the time, MLP as a media franchise was circling the drain.  The Newborn Cuties shorts were worse than some sprite animations out there.  So, Hasbro was playing it safe.  Now that it's a hit, they might be more willing to be ambitious.
