Pony Corral / Re: Gray-Bodied G1's?

I think Snuzzle is pretty much officially the only gray pony, but I know what you mean about Dainty Dahlia and Clover -- they look rather gray to me, too.  :) I once had a lavender Baby Ember who had turned gray in the sunlight, and she has pink hair, so maybe she could be added to your list. :)

They're all in beautiful condition! I love the curls on the newborn twins, and their little nightgowns. :)

Ha ha, well, I've never noticed that, but I do think it's hard to see their expressions under all that fur. You can't really see that they're smiling.  :)

Pony Corral / Re: What did you think of MLP as a kid?
« on: November 19, 2013, 07:47:54 AM »
I don't recall ever seeing the show or the movies as a kid, but I was born in '88 so perhaps I was just too young to remember. (And I wasn't allowed much TV, anyway.) I do remember the toys, though, and that I had quite a few of them. The memories are a bit vague; my mom tells me I liked them as a toddler and was very into them from 4 or so up until about age 7, at which point they began to take more and more of a backseat to Littlest Petshop. All I really remember is the strangely absorbing activity of moving the whole herd from place to place by "walking" each pony forward by a few inches at a time and taking turns with them all so that they would all stay together as they traveled...

My clearest memories of them are actually of rediscovering them when I was about 11 or 12, but I didn't play with them then so much as just set them up on a shelf because they were pretty. (Mostly I got my horse-and-pony fix from Grand Champions at that age.) I remember being irritated that their hair was messed up from being in storage, and frustrated that I couldn't fix it. All I had to work with was warm water and the little plastic brushes that come with Barbies; is it any wonder I failed?  :yikes:

The second time I rediscovered them I was in my late teens, but I was under a lot of pressure then to "rehome" the majority of my old toys, so a good chunk of the ponies that had survived storage (not all of them did -- some succumbed to Dread Mold) went to live with my nieces. Am I mean for kind of wanting them back? :devious: (I would never do that, though, my youngest niece loves them and I'm glad they are getting played with and enjoyed.)

Yeah, your story reminds me of mine, WrittenEmber. I was born about the same time you were, and I was very into ponies until Littlest Pet Shops and Grand Champions became my favorite toys. (I still liked my ponies; I just didn't play with them as much.) I love how you had your herd travel together. :) And I also rediscovered my ponies about the same time, when I was 10 or 11, and then kind of drifted away from them in my teens. And now I'm back. :)

How cool that you gave that mom your Applejack! I'm sure that will mean a lot to them. Maybe it will spawn a new pony collector. :)

Off Topic / Re: What are some other fandoms you're involved in?

Like some of you guys have said, I'm into anime and manga. Right now I'm watching Sword Art Online, and I was watching Bunny Drop, and sometimes Toradora. I'm reading Land of the Blindfolded and Otomen, and I'm making myself wait to read the latest Kimi ni Todoke (don't tell me what happens!) And I love Studio Ghibli films (I have all the films, almost all the soundtracks [can't even read some of the Japanese that's on there]) and a piano book (again, can't read the song titles but can play them!  :P) I also watch Asian live-action movies.

As far as western media, I like Lord of the Rings, too, and Star Wars, and Avatar: The Last Airbender (the *animated* series, not the movie) and fantasy in general, and watch a little Doctor Who. And I'm a Jane Austen fan.

I have several toy collections: besides MLP, I have Little Pretties, vintage Littlest Pet Shops, Grand Champions, Breyer horses, Puppy/Kitty/etc. In My Pocket, and Beanie Babies. I don't really actively collect any of those (except Little Pretties), but if I saw a nice one at a thrift store or something I'd get it.

I'm so sorry about your guinea pigs. :( I used to have guinea pigs, too, and I know you must have been attached to them. One of mine was from a friend, and one was from a smaller, privately-owned pet store. They were pretty healthy. Maybe you'd have luck with a smaller pet store? Or, like the others have said, the SPCA. Or Craigslist? (You never know.)

Pony Corral / Who was your first pony?
« on: November 12, 2013, 12:13:09 PM »
I had two first ponies -- Glory and Peachy. When I was three, my mom and I went to a thrift store and I was playing with those two. My mom says I liked them so much, the thrift store lady gave them to me. :) That started my whole collection . . . Who were your first ponies? Do you actually remember the moment you got them?

Price Check Archives / Re: PC on Dream Castle
« on: November 12, 2013, 11:50:29 AM »
Wow, where'd you come across that? Assuming it's the pink Dream Castle, not the lavender one (the lavender one is rarer), with the box and everything in plastic I think it could go for about $100. Anyone else want to verify that? I did a check for completed Dream Castle listings on Ebay, and an almost-complete Dream Castle with its box (with loose accessories, not accessories still in the plastic) went for about $102. But then, you never know with Ebay. Sometimes items that go for a lot one time go for much less at others for random reasons. :)

Pony Corral / Re: How did you start deciding what to collect?
« on: November 12, 2013, 11:43:05 AM »
Yeah, when I first started collecting, I spent a lot of time on Dream Valley, pretty much memorizing the ponies and their sets, I looked at it so much. :) Naturally I found favorites; I started off with a baby boy pony, Baby Ribbs, and then bought a Baby Glory, because one of my first ponies was Glory. So, yeah, I'd recommend going to Dream Valley or Ponyland Press and looking through the ponies to find your top favorites, and concentrating on buying those at first.

Pony Corral / Re: Remember When...? G3 History
« on: November 06, 2013, 11:50:46 AM »
I remember someone posting on Moonshadow's message board that their father had been contacted by Hasbro to make My Little Pony stickers. It was one of the first rumors that the G3 ponies were coming out. When the ponies reached stores, I went with my friend and sister and even took a picture. I forget who we got that day -- I think it was Rainbow Dash. She was one of the prettiest, I thought. Autumn Sky was also really pretty. And the ponies with glitter (can't remember what they're called). We collected many of the G3s, but my sister (who is a little younger than me) was into them more than I was. I grew up with the G1s, and then I also was in high school at the time and was starting to collect less. But I liked Baby Bellaluna and many of the babies, and I wanted this blue pony with long pink hair to be her mother . . . lately I've wondered who that was. Maybe I'll still buy her if I see her someday. :)

I love those re-haired Glow 'n Shows! Very pretty. I'm sorry there's so much drama in your life right now, I hope it gets better.  :(

Yay, that's great! I had a Little Giggles as a child (then I lost her . . . but recently my mom and sister bought another for me, so I was happy!)
