Pony Corral / Re: Beach Belle rare..? And all chewed up...?
« on: February 11, 2012, 01:16:58 PM »
Looks like cat bites. I would not customize her. She's quite rare. I live in a state with Menards stores and I haven't found a single one of her in a thrift store yet. I'm sure they didn't sell many per store at all.

Cool Breeze is totally worth it. She's not one you find often at all. I don't like leaving ponies behind either, not even a Cotton Candy. And for the record, I'm seriously low on Peachys. I have my childhood Peachy and one other. I'd be all for finding more Peachys.

They sound like Simba fakies, very closely related to the US Gigo fakies. Hasbro molds are more liked, but they are very common and aren't too valuable.

Proctor and Gamble for one I can think of at midnight. I don't buy a ton of processed foods either but no particular brand I can think of besides Market Pantry.

As far as pet foods go, Nutro used to (I mean over a decade ago) test positive for pentabarbitol. This is the chemical used to put companion pets to sleep. It is not used on cows or horses or livestock animals that would either be too big to use a costly medication to put them to sleep with or would be used in human consumption. The only conclusion you can draw as to how Nutro foods contained this chemical is rendered companion animal meat.
I also don't use Blue Buffalo because they hide the by-products using scientific names. And also out is any food containing menadione.

I won't touch a yellow jacket. They're the most aggressive where I live. I often go out and mist the blue mud wasps with the hose in the summer and they will swarm all around me drinking off any wet surface. It helps to give them an area to drink if you want to work with water undisturbed. The way I see it, wasps are predators of each other and I'll help the friendly ones so they outcompete the yellow jackets.

Off Topic / Re: Do you own a horse?
« on: February 10, 2012, 11:52:56 AM »
I don't own a horse yet, but I grew up with them in the family. I have to laugh at your question about annual vet bills. There is no annual vet bill like a dog getting their shots. Theres monthly care basically for a horse.

You have to keep their feet as perfect as possible because horses live their whole lives standing. One bad leg can be a death sentence for a horse and legs depend on feet.

Horses should be wormed every 8-10 weeks in general. They're grazers, they pick up parasites.

Depending on the age of the horse, they can need their teeth floated up to a year apart or sometimes even every few months. Plan on two times a year on average so you have the money.

Then you have colic. Colic is one of the leading causes of horse fatalities. Its estimated maybe 10% of horse get it yearly. Colic is a general gastrointestinal ailement causes by tons of things. Some are easy to treat, others require surgery. You have to know the signs of colic and be on it right away.

Horses are great, but I agree they aren't for people who don't have at least $20,000 in their bank account at any given time.

Pony Corral / Re: Pony cancer
« on: February 09, 2012, 11:48:23 AM »
It depends on the type. BlackCurtains once looked at cancer spots under a microscope and found some sort of dead bacteria in them. I think anything that disinfects a pony without ruining it would work. Boiling would not be a good choice IMHO. Most people who aren't experienced in caring for ponies usually ruin them by trying to boil them. I prefer just a diluted bleach bath and cleanign them inside and out.

Pony Corral / Re: My mom wants to customizes ponies!
« on: February 08, 2012, 11:13:43 AM »
I hope she truely uses bait ponies because it sounds like she doesn't care if a pony is hard to find and special to people, she just wants to give it sparkles. That's why common ponies are becoming harder to find.

« on: February 04, 2012, 11:17:40 AM »
The big problem, IMHO, with tumors is that when they are removed, you should also remove an inch or two of healthy tissue around them if you can, so you have more chance of getting any spores. You can't do this with an animal as small as a rat. The best thing to do is not to disturb the tumor so it doesn't activate and spread if its just sitting there and watch the rat to be sure you think its got quality in its life. Once the quality is gone, then consider euthanasia, though be sure your vet does it with CO2 and not injection. The thing that kills a rat with injection is the needle piercing the heart, not the drug.

Put nothing on a pony but the pony itself. Even their colorful clothes will leach out onto their skin in the right conditions.

Also, stained wood shelving will stain their feet if they stand on it too long. I now stand all of my ponies on a piece of white paper on the wood shelf of my cabinet.

The kitty and puppy came in some little kennels. I want to say Puppy Go Bye Bye and Kitty Go Bye Bye or something like that but I've also not been able to ever find anything on them. They dropped off the face of the earth like Tonka's bathing beauty dolls.

Off Topic / Re: Any Grand Champion horse collectors here? Pc needed & info

I collect them but I don't think they go for any more than normal retail value in box. There is way more supply than demand with Grand Champions. Horses were the 1990's I guess.

Pony Corral / Re: Pony Cancer question
« on: February 01, 2012, 11:11:12 AM »
We have a member who used to look at these things under a microscope. The only thing I think she found in a "cancer" spot was some bacteria. They were dead already (old age? antibacterial cleaning agents?) but if they were alive they certainly could spread. The thing I do with all my new ponies is a diluted bleach bath. At least if there is bacteria hopefully it will be dead then.

I'd had ponies since I was a kid in the 80's, but what really started my current obsession was the very first G3's when they came out at KB toys.

A lot. I guess I'd be really thrilled to have Baby Graffiti to complete my set.
