Pony Brag Arena / Sea pony brag ^^
« on: May 26, 2012, 09:14:38 AM »
even though I have planned some already, this is my first brag topic - I hope I'm doing it right ^^

yesterday I visited a shop that sells used toys, and (among some other cool - non-MLP-related stuff I collect) I found this little rasta girl:

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

(please forgive the bad quality of the pic, my camera broke awhile ago, so this was done with my phone - which is, well, not really made for taking photos :D still I chose to take one, because a brag thread without pics is like pizza without cheese: it's ok, but it's just better if you have cheese on it  )

she was quite filthy, and - as you can see - her hair is awful*. still for half a dollar I couldn't leave a Sea pony there! thankfully all the dirt came off, so (apart from the hair) she is in good condition :) I'm planning to try to re-hair her, hopefully in a month I will have a bit more time on my hands. I'm already excited about it - never done it before

and about the float... well, it's another brag  I found it separately about a month ago in another shop for 99 p. I was sad it didn't come with a pony, but I decided to buy it anyway, because my other 2 sea ponies don't have their floats, so now at least one of them will have one, not hers, but still. until yesterday my Pretty & Pearly Sea Star (you can see her in my avatar pic) was sitting in it, and when I brought Beachcomber home yesterday I did a quick search on her - and realised the float belongs to her! (or well, another Beachcomber - I found them in different shops) what a coincidence

*do you know by the way what may have caused her hair to become like this? I can't even imagine how a hair can get this ruffled

so nice! please post pics once it's done ^^
I myself don't have a pony tattoo (nor any other tattoo... someone in the house *cough* doesn't like tattoos *cough* ), but I'd love to have one.

aww, they are so beautiful! congrats on the eggs too! ^.^
I used to have a bird (a rosy-faced lovebird - just Googled it, I never knew his English name ^^ ) when I was young, but unfortunately he had to go only after a couple of months, because once the weather got colder and we had to take the cage in the house it turned out that my little sister's allergic to him :( I was quite sad, I really loved the little guy, it was much fun having him, so hopefully someday I'll be able to get another one :)

 :another BJD owner wannabe here:
they are soooo expensive :( I'm afraid I will never be able to (well, it's more likely "I won't want to") spend that much on them unless I won the lottery

I'd also really love to own a decent camera one day. and a classic Mini. but with the Mini, first I'd have to own a house that has a garage for it, I wouldn't want to leave it outside.

Seaponies get no love...  :(
oh, they do! I picked them ^.^

however it's close to a tie with males, I really love them too. they were my favourites as a child (I always wanted to have "a pony with hairy legs"  but I was already an adult when it finally happened...). but it's also true that I didn't know sea ponies back then.

Pony Corral / Re: Should I downsize my collection?

I would say, keeping the thoughts you mentioned in mind, try to wait just a bit more. if after awhile you still think you don't like them that much anymore and still think of selling them, you may sell them. at first try to sell just one, not big bunches, the more it will hurt if after selling them you find out it does hurt.
and yeah, as many have already mentioned: try to search buyers who you think will give good homes to them, buyers who you won't regret handing them over to. it does matter much! once I sold something from my non-pony collection (as it was a sort of duplicate and I lightheartedly thought I don't need duplicates), and I started to regret it already right after it got BINned. however, the buyer chose local pickup and upon our meeting we could talk for awhile, and he told me he's so happy he found my auction because he was searching exactly for this for her mother. a little earlier he bought one as a present for his girlfriend, but his mother also fell in love with it and he really wanted to get one for his mother too, but never thought he will be able to find an exact colour match. he looked so happy, I imagined how happy his mother will be, I also remembered how my mother used to love my (then not yet so big) collection too, and I realised it will go to a loving home and regretted nothing anymore  ^.^
however, it was more of a lucky thing, the story could have easily ended with me getting sad all over it and regretting selling ever since if the buyer wasn't like that...

I guess they liked fakies and there is nothing wrong with that!

There are lots of fakie collectors out there.
that was my guess too. maybe there was one (or some) particular pony the buyer liked that much. I know from personal experience that I can spend crazy prices if I find something I fall in love with, regardless of its value as a collectors item.

another guess would be a newly-crazed pony lover child who(se mother) doesn't mind whether it's a fake or not but wants to make things easy - and buying a bunch at once is definitely easier than buying them separated. and you won't get a lot that consists of all-originals for this price, so if your goal is getting as much ponies (of any kind) as possible in the easiest way than this auction's for you.

(but of course in both cases you need at least 2 of these possible types of buyers, so it should still be a coincidence)

Pony Brag Arena / Re: Piggy Lemon Drop Variant got her today!!!!
« on: April 10, 2012, 01:52:00 AM »
Oke I guess I am not a dork haha.
I am glad she made her way through to you :D . Can i ask what she is since she is not a pony (totally off topic :p)
And i think she will be on the night stand for a long time hihi
she's a Jester Furby. jesters were only made for the US market (and were available only in one specific store chain if I'm right), so when I saw her in a bunch of electronic toys on a local auction site I already got excited, even though she wasn't working, was missing eyelashes and also an iris. however, as she was the only toy in the lot I was interested in, and the price got really high, I had to give up on the lot. regarding the state she's in I thought she may have ended up being thrown out, but luckily a couple of months later she howed up again in a smaller lot - I think the previous buyer relisted the things she didn't need from the lot, and this time I won them (also for a really nice price) I could fix her, and I already have swap-lashes and an iris for her (couldn't replace them yet due to lack of time though :( ). I would have been OK knowing she found a good home and didn't end up being dustbin-filler, but that she finally made her way to me, and I can be the one who gives her a new home is still somewhat an unbelievable thing ^^
