Pony Corral / Re: What is the most expensive pony you've ever bought?
« on: August 03, 2018, 04:16:37 PM »
Somewhere under 60 dollars shipped for a G1 Moondancer plush, with tags and the comb still intact. She is also clear white! Some eye wear, and the symbols have bled. But considering what a similar one shipped from USA would have costed with shipping and customs, she was well priced.

But for regular ponies it's somewhere 29-ish dollars shipped. Both Star Hopper and mexican Baby Northstar each costed me that amount. Sparkle ponies weren't sold where I live so 20€ + shipping was a good price for her at a local auction site - especialy considering she is nearly mint! Just has the previous owners initials on her hooves. The glitter inside her is well balanced too. The mexican Northstar looked good on the pictures but hasn't yet arrived so I can't say for sure. 1/3rd of her price was just shipping.
Also I payed something like 23 USD for a mysterious G1 Morning Glory, sold to the seller as authentic winged, but the seller wasn't sure. Turned out the wings were good quality reproductions. I decided then to search myself a Forget-Me-Not, put the wings on her, and now am attempting to sell the Morning Glory. It didn't end up that bad after all.

MLP Nirvana / Re: Piggy eyes
« on: August 03, 2018, 03:03:36 PM »
Don't know about restoring the eyes, but I can confirm piggies eyes are thin metallic balls with the visible plastic part inside it, kind of like in a shell, (should I show pictures or?) so you probably would need to remove the whole eye to clean it. :/ I have no idea can you just pop them back in, but I doubt it.

Ooh! This will be interesting. Such a beautiful gem, despite the condition. Congrats on getting her.
I wonder if you're the first to even reroot an SAs tail! Good luck!

MLP Nirvana / Re: Who are the Rarest Nirvana Ponies?
« on: August 03, 2018, 11:18:08 AM »
Of course Thai boys and South Africans are the rarest. But one I'd like to bring up is many of the piggy ponies: for example, as far as I know there's about three or four confirmed Azul Celestes (Blue Belle) with blue/grey body, purple stars and purple hair, if I'm not wrong? (I've been trying to keep count since she is the piggy I own). And probably the same amount goes for many other piggies.
Actualy, don't almost all countries with nirvanas have those certain variants with 5 or less confirmed to exist? Many countries even have one of a kind ponies. The list of rarest is endless, because so many variants were I assume accidentaly made, produced in small quantities, etc. And with most ponies being over 30 years old, many have been lost or destroyed during that time.

So gorgeous! I agree the price you paid for all that was quite good! I personaly only have one of the four house pieces, but I probably wouldn't even have room for more.

I see the resemblance with the Hasbro softies head (especially the eyes, those are a direct rip).  It also reminds me of the MLP pajama cases (the body) although maybe that's just a coincidence.

Pretty sure the body is just any regular unicorn, but the head is definetly mimicked from Hasbro softies! Especialy when it's manufactured by some small russian company called Amek apparently?? And Russia is notorious for bootlegs.

The journal pony has upper teeth, but no lower teeth.

Hasbro copyrights hit it so hard half of it's teeth fell. :') Sorry for the awful joke.

Eh.
I wouldn't say that plush is the same pattern as the G1 plush. It's nose portion is much bigger than it's mouth. (G1 plush is pretty similar in ratio).

There's a point to me where some merch is just unicorns/fantasy horses and not "knock off" MLP. I love that little white unicorn. It seems familiar to me, but I can't figure out why.

The eye style and head pose probably do mimick the Hasbro Softies. Proportions are off yes (mainly by the heads length), but I don't really see how it doesn't resemble the G1 MLP plushies. It sounds a bit of unbelievable a small company would have accidentaly made an unicorn plush with the same head size and shape and eyes as Hasbros.
 Mainly the earth pony plushies open mouth versions are what resembles her, Parasol for example;

I agree as well, I was going to add I don't really count the white porcelain horse as exactly MLP like but accidentaly deleted the additional text and haven't got the time to rewrite the whole opening post.

There is several actually.  :)
Things My Eyes have seen on Taobao
Fakie Appreciation Thread

And several brag thread.

Ah? When I searched up fakie on MLP Arena I didn't get any result updated after 2013.
I think the search feature here is broken - try using Google or something :)

I think some cool fakie merch is knock off Moschino bags, shirts, etc. It costs way less and doesn't have their logo :satisfied:

Ah!
And haven't seen. I'd like to show what I have but unfortunately nothing is working so I can't attach images or working links.

Pony Corral / Fakie... merchandise?!
« on: July 03, 2018, 02:22:56 PM »
I know far too well it exists. So please show if you have any!
As fakie merchandise I count everything unlicenced MLP like or copied from things besides ponies itself, but plushies, candles, small figurines etc do count.
I don't think there's a topic for this yet, either. (Or seemingly is? Sorry. I have seen mainly ones for fake ponies mainly)
I mainly just got curious of what else there is going around after gathering my own oddities, and so naturaly I want to start, I'll add details tomorrow. Most strange one definetly is the unicorn plush with Hasbro Softies MLP plushies head.

Back in the day, in dubs and translations changing characters or even places names to local languages words was very, very common in non-english speaking countries. I don't know certainly why, either, but it simply was very usual back in the day and happened to almost everything. Probably pronounciation issues and lazy small budget dubs / translations are a big part of it. And with nirvanas, many of them are probably renamed because I assume they weren't intended to be their US counterparts and simply had recycled symbols.
(And talking of horrible names, I have found a shady Wikipedia list of ponies local names here. I haven't gotten my hands on the UK comics local translated releases to confirm these, though, but the names are so farfetched that they can't be made up. Here's a few favorites of that list: Boot = Rainfeather, Truckpony = 4-Speed, Indian= Wigwam, Bat = Slugger, Scyscraper = Skyflier, Fan = Flutterbye...)

Scoops is another one that comes up too - her magenta/purple milkshakes already appear in several shades but can also fade to very pretty pastels.

Ah I see!! And Tickles symbols seems to fade to silver often.

I was at a thrift shop. Probably the same seller considering how uncommon G1s are here had rented both a table place and a glass cabinet place.
In the glass cabinet, we have Lemon Drop and Bubbles both about 12 euros each. And on the regular thrift shop table? We have REGENTROPFEN FOR LIKE 4 EUROS and Tex.
The more I think about it, the more hilarious it gets. The overly common Lemon drop for 12€ on a glass cabinet, meanwhile the collector favorite Regentropfen at a regular table for 4€!!! The seller clearly knew nothing about ponies.
PLEASE tell us you bought Raindrop! I would actually start crying if I saw that. Especially because I'm American? Oh goodness.
[
Of course I did! I was a bit less knowledged then so I would have left her there if I had not bothered to ID her just in case. Thank gosh I did.
German ponies were not sold here either but Finland is still a lot closer to Germany. I've noticed that I see now and then toys not sold here - probably brought as souvenirs in the 80s and 90s, she was probably one of them.

A bit late in at the starting gate, but I am on the side of those who are going for 'faded'. It is completely possible for a pony to fade evenly; I have a lovely Cherries Jubilee (as a random example) who is evenly faded with lilac instead of purple cherries. I am keeping her as I like Cherries and she makes a nice addition to my Cherries collection. But she is by no means a 'variant'. Simply faded. What does not show in the photo is that her body and hair are also lighter than non-faded Cherries next to her.

Here she is next to her non-faded counterpart:

I think it is as Taffeta mentioned earlier in the thread: people do not always notice these small variations until they are pointed out by someone. However they are there, and this is something that I have personally noticed. It also happens with Wigwam's symbols for example.

But I also agree that the seller genuinely believes that they have a unique pony, which in a way is what we all want to believe, right? So is perfectly natural.

Jubilee has been brought up previously too on this thread as a good example! Faded ponies can definetly look pretty. Also if you read a bit forward on the posts of this thread it has been almost certainly confirmed already that this baby Applejack too is just extreme fading. I just am not sure should I delete the opening post to begin with so I'm keeping it there with the bolded edit to clear up.

Yep. Small variations go unnoticed, so it's a bit confusing to many when suddenly there's a pony with these small variations and a bigger difference.
Wigwam too has been mentioned for an example!

True there!

I have had this kind of experience too! A seller with common ponies on the table at more expensive prices, and then a box of not so mint ponies under the table in which was Spanish Strawberry Fair/Sugarberry...for 30p...

Oh gosh! :D that's insane. It's funny when the sellers fail so bad that they ask crazier amounts for common ponies thinking they're rare when they'd have actual wanted rarities too...
