The trouble with my doubles is they are not quite doubles, their expressions are different or their hair falls the other way, or they have some individual quirk and they don't look the same - so then they both get to stay......... yes, I'm talking about you Daddies Apple and Moonstones :) :)

I still need to fix the hair on the other two :/ That is the one thing about these ponies. They come with the maddest hairstyles. I swear my Lovebound arrived looking like she'd used Tina Turner as her coiffure inspiration...

:) :)
That's who they remind me of!
I think these vally gals have Attitude :) -  I've left mine with their mad 80s hairdos.

They are now on a shelf either side of Thundercloud- he looks terrified of them poor chap, so they will have to move :)

We have a tiny house so no room for too much stuff, but neither of use can bear to part with things that make us smile/remind us of special occasions (though I can ditch anything I have no 'connection' with which is why my collecting is a bit piecemeal rather than completionist).  My ponies make me smile so they stay.

To paraphrase William Morris - 'keep only that which is useful, or what you believe to be beautiful'  - which I think is very important to remember, joy and beauty are very much a necessary bit of life, however minimalist that life is.

That's Lucky Star who was the bonus pony with the Valentine's girls.

I think she may be for sale singly, either now or shortly.

We've got a 'proper amount' of snow, very unusual for where we live - walked up to the village and soooo many people about - kids on sledges, dogs running about all enjoying the spectacle and talking to one another, not a vehicle in sight. Then back indoors to a log fire and coffee.
It's got to our ponies too, they are having fun in the field - especially our little old Dartmoor Hill pony jumping about and playing in the snow with her friend.

Congratulations, it is wonderful to hear of happily married people.

I've been married a bit longer than you. Don't think Hubby had come across a horsey gal before me - the horse I had at the time loved him (that's when I knew he was a keeper, animals just know).  He also inadvertently started off my adult MLP collection when he bought me a couple as a little present before we were married :) .

Pony Corral / Re: Pretty Parlor Blanket
« on: March 01, 2018, 01:31:02 AM »
Have got the pink blanket here now so measurements:

front to back at bottom - 3.75 ins/ 9cms
front to back in middle   - 2.5ins/6.5cms
width from bottom edge to bottom edge - 5.5ins/14cms
depth below neck shaping at front - 1 inch/2.5cms

all a bit approximate as the corners are curved.

PS: for a boy pony you need about an extra 1 cm each side at the front as their necks are bigger.

Hope that helps

The blankets seem to be a standard size, they fit a whole bunch of adult girls (not big brothers though!)

I'll measure the pink one I have tomorrow for you. Don't know exactly which set it comes from, I've used it as a pattern to make my own blankets.  It looks like the one in the photo above.

I dunno, to be honest I'd rather be stuck with a name like Rattles than... Steamer or Floater...
not all the adults have better names....

lmao

At least Steamer has the official alternative "Tracks",  but oh, poor Floater...........and for such an attractive gal too.

On the stripe note, the Mountain Boys and Big Brothers also have this stripe feature. :) I don't know if we should consider that as them all being descended from unicorn blood or not though?

or was it the result of a rowdy Boys Night Out - someone got handy with some hair dye.........and they all had to try it? :) :)

I have Rattles, and love the idea of him and Tattles having different hair stripes so that they're not entirely identical. Like, if Rattles got blue and Tattles got red.

Now that's not much fun for mischievous twin babies if they can be easily recognised apart :) :) :)

I love the stripe.

Pony Corral / Re: The Iffy Discussions - Is the future of MLP "tainted"?
« on: February 21, 2018, 01:22:18 AM »
I guess as to the pop-culture references and everything in the show, will depend on whether the kids enjoy it?  MLP will always change as kids culture changes too. I really love that you can kind of see the aesthetics of different time periods summed up in the MLP generations. Just looking at a G3 to me screams 'early 2000s', as do G1s well represent the 80s! So yeah it'll be really interesting seeing what the next 10 years brings and what appeals to kids in this day and age!

The pop-culture references will date the line faster than anything.
What kid will want a toy based on Dad's favourite band? :)

Fascinating for those interested in history of course, but not as universally attractive perhaps as the older gens which had 'space' for imaginative play and creativity.

Customs / cleaning up a damaged custom, advice please
« on: February 09, 2018, 06:12:48 AM »
Would like some advice from those of you experienced in customising and the materials and techniques used:

I have a little custom pony who I found in a bad way.
She was extremely sticky and the paint was clumpy and smudged, chipping off in places. I've cleaned her up as best I can and the paint flaked off. However it has left a stain all through the body vinyl.

Any idea what paint was used for this to happen?
I presume as she is stained right through (can see the marks on the inside of her body) then she either needs a re-paint or a little outfit? I can easily make her a little rug.

Is it 'safe' for her to be around other ponies?

I think she started out as a Baby Lofty, she'd been re-haired, and painted in red, black and some sort of gold paint on her wings, flanks and back legs. No customiser marks on her hooves.

I'd rather see a rare G1 used for the project to make many new ones than see it customized into some random OOAK.

Since finding a random custom g1 baby with a bad paint job for pennies in a charity shop I'd have to agree.
She's home with me now while I work out what to do with her. I'm sure she's not a fakie, don't think she's a rare one, but have to research who she originally was - she's a bit of a mess at the moment.
