I live in Houston Texas which is very hot and humid in the summer. I keep my ponies upstairs in the office/guestroom on open shelves. I've had most of them a few years and they've been ok. I agree the most important rule is to keep them out of sunlight.

I don't have any of my childhood ponies any more. I remember having quite a few that I loved. Princess Taffeta, Sea Ponies, Baby Sea Ponies, Flutters, Wingers, and the one that hurts the most Baby Princess Sparkle and her Buggy (i still haven't been able to replace it) I liked to play with them in the sink and take them outside in the dirt. They got dirty and mildewed. I'm sure most were thrown away. I wish i had known that i would miss them so much. It just never occurred to me that they would be ruined At least when I have children I can make sure they don't repeat my mistakes.

I thought I was pretty much done about a year ago. I had most of my grails (Nightlight, Ice Crystal, Dutch Love Letter, Mimic) and I felt satisfied with my collection.
Now i am slowly getting back to my goal of having all the g1's minus super htf nirvanas of course. I would also like to have a complete collection of G2s (which i think is pretty doable), petite ponies, and a lot of the g3 and g4 ponies I like.
As long as i have room and money i'm sure there will always be ponies to collect. Maybe by the time i finish this goal it will be time for G5 or G6.

I never really lost interest in ponies. However, I recently took about a year off from actively collecting. The break was mostly because i was low on funds and i just couldn't justify spending on my collection. Also I was getting a little overwhelmed. I downsized my collection to make it more manageable and I am happier with it now.
I am slowly starting to collect again. Mostly for now I'm just buying ponies I really wanted but couldn't track down before and ponies I sold and regretted.

Besides the usual bills and ads the last mail i received was German Princess Sparkle, Baby Hopscotch, Baby Pictures, Newborn Baby Wiggles, Italian Parasol, Italian Cherries Jubilee, and Italian Tickle. Right now i'm waiting on Baby Milky Way. I'm hoping she'll be here early this week

It looks like that took a lot of work. I wish it still had hair and eyes. its definitely creative but kinda creepy. it looks like it has scales.
Not really my taste but I have to admire the time and patience it must have taken.
