Our little old Dartmoor mare decided Spring Has Sprung and had a mad half-hour leaping and bucking and galloping about. It was lovely to see her so spry after a long wet winter. She is about 25 years old - the equivalent of about 75 in human years, and can still out-turn and out-run the young pony >:) Lovely to see.

I love him

Though being in the UK he's a rugby player right - so ours is nicknamed 'Fly Half'

My Mirror Mirror has pinched Tex's hat - it's the same colour as her :).
It's a bit big so tilts towards one eye in a rather rakish fashion but she looks great in it.

You get used to taking your own shopping bag or tote bag everywhere very very quickly. I have a little packaway one stashed in my handbag. My grandmother would have laughed - years ago everyone used their own shopping bags/baskets rather than rely on being given a store-provided one.

There are some absolutely fabulous artisan bags about - would never have thought I'd get tote-envy in a supermarket checkout queue :)

I wondered if that was the case Lady Moondancer.

Value Added Tax (VAT) can be different in each European country, for each nation it depends on what percentage the national government has decided upon (it's 20% for most VAT-rated things in UK at present). Retail shelf prices in stores usually include the tax.

Out of interest, and I don't know as it's been many years since I visited the US, - are the US prices including sales tax/local taxes or would there be more add-ons for retail sales price?
VAT is usually included in European prices.

Off Topic / Re: Are kids more destructive these days?
« on: March 27, 2018, 03:59:57 AM »
When I think back to the stuff my brother and I did to our toys then no, I don't think kids are any more destructive these days.

Main difference was probably that we had to live with the consequences - the toys were not replaced, end of. We soon learnt to either look after them, play with them 'as is'  or how to mend them :)

Pony Corral / Re: Any tips for storing ponies in boxes ?
« on: March 24, 2018, 12:11:02 PM »
Watching with interest as I have some of mine stored awaiting somewhere to display them.......

I have some stackable plastic boxes I've lined with bubblewrap. They are about one g1 pony depth so I stand all mine in the boxes. I have a few babies who are wrapped in bits of bubblewrap and lay sideways across the backs of the adults to save a bit of space. I also give all of mine a wash before they get put away, but yes the hair does get a bit messed up.

PS I don't store any of mine in accessories or clothing, that's all in another box.

17€ for a reissue pony x__x
Cheaper to get a Hasbro one on ebay. This is sad.

not sure if it would be cheaper to get an old one on e-bay - anything mint is likely to be more than 17euros (for scarcity alone). Yes, you can get a less-than-perfect example cheaper, but if you factor in renovation time and materials is it really that bad a price?

It is a different market.

I'd love to get a brand-spanking new Moonstone reissue to go with Peg-leg Moonstone, who has lovely hair but only stands up on his own with a splint inside one front leg, and Other Moonstone who is lovely but has faded symbols and some markings on his feet.

I like her, but oh, such an unfortunate name :) .

Agreed it's a bit of a funny pose - we like to think she's just pawing the ground because she's a bit impatient. She looks better surrounded by ponies in different poses but similar colours. Ours is nicknamed Miss Flyaway.

Taffeta,
I must say that I find your website invaluable, thank you for your hard work and intricate research.

Being UK based it's great to find the ponies that I remember by their UK names ( for example those Tropical ponies - thought I was mis-remembering the names when looking for them!!!)

Pony Corral / Help please - cleaning a G3 Starcatcher with cloth wings
« on: March 10, 2018, 03:14:14 AM »
My G3 Starcatcher is in need of a bath and some hair-styling.

Are there any dos and don'ts to deal with the cloth wings or can she be washed as usual? Do I take the wings off, if so how?
Apart from being a bit grubby she's in pretty good condition so don't want to wreck the wings.

Thankies

the egg was nice but I like Cadbury chocolate more than kinerton chocolate

Kinnerton did the chocolate pony advent calendar last Christmas so I guess they have the franchise.

goes out looking for pony eggs........

Too many is the quick answer.

If just taking the main display cabinet then there are 55 G1s and some customs......

However, there are splinter groups all over the house :-
9 flutter ponies waiting for sets of wings (the current craft project),
2 customs in Hubby's study just because he likes them,
20 odd G2s and G3s waiting for a shelf,
3 Christmas ponies who only come out in December,
a few in 'rehab' who need restoration
and of course Poser BeachBall and his partner-in-crime Peg-leg Moonstone who live on the crafting desk.

Blast! that's nearly 3 figures!!, and I only collect those that I really really like, not complete sets............
