Pony Corral / Re: TOY SHOW: Hasbro introduces MLP Guardians of Harmony
« on: February 10, 2016, 09:51:41 PM »
These look awesome, and I'm SOOO glad they're doing them! I love how animated they look, and I love their battle poses and expressions. I hope we get to see some of this action in the cartoon--it sounds like we will be getting an amazing new comic line this fall!

As to those who seem to be upset/concerned that this is not pony/not peaceful/not cute/catering to a specific crowd--GOOD NEWS! This line is an addition to the line of brushables, NOT a replacement! The brushables you like (and I like) are still going to be around. However, now people who have enjoyed ponies but wished it could be paired with more of an adventure element are also getting something. I'm sure there will still be plenty of pastels and cat fights about how so-and-so could be a better friend.

As someone who loved ponies but also loved He-man/She-ra/Transformers/Thundercats, I am crazy-excited that there is going to be a line that explores the potential for pony adventure and battle. The only way I could be happier would be if they would pair the new molds, articulation, and battle armor with brushable hair!

Pass. Not a fan of G1 Princess Ponies. I always hated their hammered-tin symbols and their tinsel hair.

Blech! I hate the turtle ponies!

I love that they were shocked.  Being born an alicorn must be very rare.

That was my thought. I'm so interested to see what season 6 will reveal about this. :)

I wonder if Twilight was shocked at the size of the wings rather than simply the fact that the pony is an alicorn. Maybe they'll fix her by sucking some of the fat out of Fluffy Heart's wings and injecting them into Scootaloo's wings, that way they can both fly.

Check here to see the cartoon version. So, she's a female, white, alicorn. However--THOSE WINGS AND HORN!!! They are the same size as Twilight's, for corn sake! And Twilight's wings kinda look to big on Twilight! Seriously, I am okay with the pony being an alicorn, though I would have preferred unicorn or pegasus. But her Wings and horn look RIDICULOUS on a newborn!

Also, I was really hoping that the pony would be a crystal pony. I don't understand why in the cartoon she appears to be solid color.

I'll just be happy if it's not pink or purple. But that's probably too much to ask. After all, this toy line is aimed at girls, and I know how much you ladies love pink. You can't get enough of it!!! Sometimes I feel bad for ladies that this is such a man's world, where so many things do not come in the pink color scheme that you need to survive. But maybe some day. I hear they've finally made ink pens in pink and purple, so that women can join their male counterparts in the world of written language, whereas before, ladies had nothing to write with. Congratulations, women of the world! YES YOU CAN!

Why are these two such different shades? They are identical in every other way. Just curious.

Pony Corral / Re: What makes a pony a Nirvana Pony?

Nirvana ponies are ponies that have realized that the self is an illusion and attained a state of enlightenment, escaping samsara and the cycle of death and rebirth. Also, they smell like teen spirit.

Customs / Re: What would you charge to rehair a G1?
« on: December 07, 2015, 04:16:41 PM »
There are a lot of factors to consider here. Let's assume your friend will cover materials cost.

How much is your time worth to you? How much do charge/earn per hour in other endeavors, and how much are you willing to sell your time for? Consider yourself as charging by the the hour--depending on the method and speed, hours can add up quickly.

Do you care whether you make a profit from this order? You may have different motivations for taking an order--to make money, for the joy of rehairing/something different to do, practice. Remember, if you use a slow rehairing method/haven't invested in a rehairing tool, a rehairing job could take a lot of hours. Let's say you charge $35 (some people charge less than that for a complete custom) but it takes you five hours, you've only made $7/hour. Are you okay with that? Now let's say you charge $20 for a 5 hour job. The outcome of that math is even less lucrative!

If you enjoy the task and it's relaxing to you, maybe it doesn't matter if you make even less than that. But if you would rather be doing something else, maybe you would prefer not to sell your time at less than you could be earning doing something else.

Would you like to try this out just to explore it? Maybe you could buy a rehairing tool, and future rehairing jobs would go a bit faster. Then maybe you could rehair something in an hour--suddenly $20 for the job is not doing so badly! And even if you decide you don't want to do it again, now you've got a fancy new rehairing tool out of it.

Check on the tutorials thread--I think it also has rehairing services. See how much people are charging. Also, if your friend doesn't know a lot about the seedy underworld of ponies-for-pay, maybe you can gouge him or her! What could be more gratifying than taking money from a sucker!?

They all look great! ^.^
There's just something I love about G1 ponies as G4, they feel like they have more character. :P

It might because they don't all have the same sleepy cow eyes :p That being the case, I love G1s.

Thanks, everyone. Glory was my first pony as a kid, and she has been on my costome-to-do list since the first white G3 Unicorn came out. I always put her off because it seemed like white purple-haired unicorns were never really missing from the G3 or G4 line, and she not quite as exciting as the rainbow ponies.

Pony Corral / Re: Rapunzel (I am so sad!)
« on: December 03, 2015, 08:51:36 PM »
Well in all honesty, we really don't know what will become collectors items. As a kid, they're our toys, as an adult, they're hermagerd, holy expensive grail/easy cash/childhood loves.

That's very true, so let this be a lesson to you. Never let anything go or sell anything, even in a garage sale! Never throw anything out--even trash or McDonalds ponies (which are the same thing)--because a day will come when you wish you still had that McDonald's pony or empty milk jug!

JK, but maybe what you need is a good dose of sour grapes. Just look at Rapunzel's noodle leg, and tell yourself, "ugh, I could never get past that horrible noodle leg! What was Hasbro thinking?! It's like when professor Lockhart tried to heal Harry Potter's broken arm, and instead he vanished all the bones!" Then you will feel all better.
