Adoptables / Re: Lovely Locks Portrait Adopt [OPEN + PICKUPS]

WOW this is an amazing idea! Would you mind if I used it? You are so good at visualizing really complex ideas! I don't want to take it from you, though. I just think that is beautiful and would make a really good Pony symbol. :)

Of course I wouldn’t mind!  I’d love to see it if you do something with the idea, I’d have drawn up a quick sketch if I’d had the time.

Two pickups today, Barnacle and Shaialatte (who is ADORABLE, let me know if you want her pupil pinkified instead of the pink highlights in her iris):

You are so welcome!  The symbol’s a tricky one, I like the idea of a broken mirror, cause physical appearance doesn’t matter.  Like an old fashioned silver handheld mirror with the broken pieces turning into little white birds and soaring away, the grey and white would go with the colours and the mirror shards transforming into birds goes with the theme of change and the new pegasus form.  It’s so personal though!

You’re welcome!  The G1 unicorns will always have a special place in my heart, even though some of the moulds were a bit oddly shaped, kind of like they were wearing baggy pyjamas.

Same! I love Moondancer and Sunbeam especially. I should make them in alternate poses for myself one of these days.

I'd love one of Raincurl too. She can let her curls down for once

Moondancer and Gusty were my OGs, I remember my grandfather saying “does she dance by the light of the moon or can she make the moon itself dance?  Because that would play havoc with the tides.”

My girl Raincurl!  The name being ironic as rain is kryptonite for curls…

Here’s Sunspot, and I don’t mind doing a femme Barnacle but the lineart isn’t exactly rugged!

Because this adoptable doesn’t require any major changes to the lineart I’m happy to do two at a time per requester, also happy to create pairs a la Seashell and Bubbles :)

AKA Pantene Pony, AKA Neighlor Swifthooves, AKA “maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s a multiply mask”, now with a Christmassy update!  Anyone who has already requested can ask for their pony with the wreath, it’s easy to add.

Please note; pegs aren’t showing their wings in this format!

The ribbon colour and lights are customisable but the default is the red and gold as modelled on my persona, please specify which colours you’d like if not the default, or you can request that I pick the colours that suit your pony, like I did with Majesty here:

ETA LE RULES cause my stream-of-consciousness nonsense didn’t include any:

1) as these don’t require major lineart changes I’m happy to do more than one each,I can also make pairs:
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

ETA: by more than one I mean one OR TWO, as in a pair, not three or four or a whole herd.  I didn’t word that very clearly!
2) personas welcome!
3) the Pixietail is completely optional, please state whether or not you want one and/or the magic fringe.

-+-+-+-

I’m upping my Procreate game, learning about masks and layers and whatnot, and drew up a Lady Lovely Locks pony to experiment with.  Offering it as an adoptable for the practice and because it’s a bit quiet in here innit?  Adoptables will be posted both full-size and with the code to easily shrinky-shronk them down to sig size.

For the youngsters: Lady Lovely Locks was a princess with a magical colourful fringe that, when shaken, summoned sentient hair accessories called Pixietails, because if there was one thing that the 80s didn’t care about even a little bit it was making sense.  The Pixietails were mutant hamsters/rabbits/birds with long, brushable hair, not to be confused with Fairy Tails which were exclusively birds with long, brushable hair, not to be confused with Keypers which were multiple animals - including a bird and a horse - with long, brushable hair, not to be confused with Fashion Star Fillies which were exclusively horses with long brushable hair, not to be confused with My Little Ponies which were ponies with long brushable hair… I mean if you’ve ever wondered why so many Millennial women have vague but persistent insecurities about their hair you can consider that mystery solved.

So you can have the full LLL makeover with magic fringe and Pixietail, or just a Pixietail…

…but I’m assuming you’ll prefer the non-crossover version; earth, unicorn, pegasus or alicorn, twinkle eyes are available:

The Lady Lovely Locks, Fizzy, Luna and Trickles are all free to grab if you want them, the peg is my persona.

Off Topic / Re: Have you had an encounter with a famous person?
« on: April 05, 2021, 12:35:40 PM »
Many years ago I was working in Staples, specifically in the ‘Business Machines’ department (printers, shredders, etc).  One day Terry Pratchett casually strolls into my department with his wife.  I’m behind the counter with a couple of coworkers and I am dying, I’d already been a huge Pratchett fan for years at this point, I was hissing “OMG IT’S TERRY PRATCHETT” to them and they were like... “who?”

Philistines.

Anyway I scuttle over to see if I can help.  They’re shopping for an overhead projector for their niece, a freshly qualified teacher.  I’m trying to be super professional and impressive, resolved to wow them with my cutting-edge knowledge of overhead projectors and then ask for an autograph after I’d checked them out.  I’d successfully held it together as I’d worked my way through our display models, but when I’d got to the last one instead of saying “and this projector” I said “and this Pratchett” and then I just shrivelled up in mortification while he and his wife creased up.  They were really nice about it but I was so embarrassed!  I was too discombobulated to ask for an autograph.

I’ve also been formally introduced to Prince Charles and I’ve met two Omani princes and an Emerati sheik, but for me Terry Pratchett is miles more exciting!

Even mint ones?!  Oh my gosh I wouldn’t dare, I’m very cautious.

Are  you sure that's red pen on her ear?  Sometimes red like that is discoloration that could get worse.

I personally wouldn't sun fade her.  She's really nice as is.

Thanks!  That's blue (or very faded black) ink in her ear, definitely ink.  It is very faded.  She is lovely, but the perfectionist in me wants her to be her best before she goes to her next home.

Pony Corral / Sunfading Mimic, do I dare?
« on: April 05, 2021, 11:04:49 AM »
After much internal debate I’ve decided that the time is right to sell off the bulk of my collection.  Well, much internal debate plus the events of the past year!  So I’m prepping to polish up the ponies who will be hopefully be finding lovely new homes.  Due to the recent ‘Mimic phenomenon’ on eBay, my Mimic is first in line!

She’s generally in good condition, but she has some ink marks in her left ear and left side that are letting her down a bit.  I’ve read that Mimic is firmly on the ‘do not sunfade’ list, but I was wondering if anyone has attempted it and what the results were?  Any advice is both welcome and appreciated.

Here’s what we’re working with, her ear:

Not terrible, but visible when on display.

The colours look a bit weird here as I had to fiddle with my camera settings to get the marks to show up!  Her side:

The marks are very faint, and they’re covered by her hair (when it’s properly styled, which it currently isn’t):

Her display side is, thankfully, pen-free:

So, to sunfade or not to sunfade?

Arts & Crafts Corral / Self-Isolation Solidarity Colouring Pages
« on: March 31, 2020, 06:28:27 AM »
These self-isolating ponies are doing their best in a difficult time. They’re keeping up with the news while keeping a level head. They’re using technology to hang out with their friends remotely. They’re staying in touch with older friends and relatives who don’t use social media by email or phone. They’re catching up on their reading, learning new things and are swiftly becoming self-care experts. Above all, they’re WASHING THEIR HOOVES!!

I’m running this as an adoptable, but I’ve also drawn up some A4 versions of the lineart that can be printed off and coloured in.  Alicorn, unicorn, peg and earth, with twinkle eye versions.  The Arena won’t let me post the full A4 versions here (probably sensible!) but each image is a link to the A4 version.

These should be good to just print right off at the right size (if you save from the linked A4 version!), if there are any problems let me know, and if you or a junior member of your household colour one of these then I would absolutely love to see them!  Please post a pic

May I have one?
Pony is in my siggy  - the white things are stars  ;) and she is a peg.

Can you give me some details on which of the accessories you’d like and in what colours?

Closing this til I do some catching up.  I’d forgotten how time consuming adoptables can be!

Background Color: Exact colour like in your earthie example

Do you mean in the Bubbles example or the nurse?

And if you still have the last adoptable I ran then yeah, you haven’t requested one in FOREVER :)

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE one! These are gorgeous! Could I please get a Twisty Tail?

You can absolutely have a Twisty Tails, if you cough up a link that works ;)
