*Old post but as a old collector I think I have some good advice here :

I think that if you have a very good collection and you feel like you are less into it then don't let it go just yet !
Many things can contribute to your lack of interest and it could pass in a month or a year or even several years.
Myself I collect but can easily take a break for a year or several months due to things happening in my life but I always come back. I had severe health issues years back and had to sell off a lot and that was of course really sad, but you do what you have to do during bad times.
I collect a lot 80s toys (and some early 90s), pretty much anything colorful. She-ra, Punky, Rainbow Brite, Strawberry Shortcake, Barbie, Spectra,  Popples, Glo Friends/Worms, Care Bears, Jem, Lady Lovely Locks...and so much more, can't get enough !

also 10 years ago we had 2/5 lines to collect and now it more diverse so not everyone atrracted to say topic... like if its topics about g1 and a lot of people are g4 they may have less intrest in interacting with that say topic

That is an excellent point as I actually recall wishing for separate sections for G1 and G2 back then...right now I feel like I'm lost in a clothes shop - I can't see anything because of all the clothes. It is getting messy.
Are there many who only collect one or just a few of the lines or do most collectors actually go for the whole shebang ? I mean, you'll need a second house..or perhaps two ! I struggle to keep my ponies in one room, and I only collect G1.

Is it just me or does the glitter seem thick on the new ones ? I recall original G1s glitter to be so tiny and thin that it don't make any 3d type feeling at all.

I'd never throw out my original collection, the ones I got as a kid, and not the ones I collected at flea markets etc. as a kid - after they were sold in the shop they quickly turned up at second hand type shops and I always picked them up.
As for the rest if I don't care for it any more I'd never throw it out but I would rather offer it up for sale or give away if possible, I don't believe in throwing away much. Many things can be recycled or upgraded in some way. Like that sleeping bag if totally trashed can be filling for cushions or such.
And yes, I am a tree hugger hippie save the whale type person.

Yeah, as I've been here on and off for a long time it seems the Arena is still going strong. Maybe people compare it to Facebook and as that place is packed at all times it might seem a bit slow here but it's a whole different vibe I think - the Arena is very nice and friendly but FB can get very nasty and fake.
The Arena is the internet equivalent of Ponyland and this is our home..that's how I see it anyway  :relaxed: :rainbow:
I've always been impressed by the fact that we manage to keep our horses in line, if ya get what I mean.

All other ponies than G1 are ugly...*hearing a horde of fans coming at me The Shining axe style*
I can deal with G3 too but only G1 have my love   :lookround:

As a kid, I felt disappointed after watching the MLP cartoons, I really wanted to enjoy them, but I hated the squeaky voices.

Contrast that to the wonderful She-Ra, Jem etc.

Just my opinion!  :bolt:

I actually think SheRa is more annoying in the voice department. 99% of which is just Catra. Meowww....

Jem has a stellar cast though you do realise that a lot of the people on Jem were also on MLP?

Yes, me too ! I looooove She-ra toys and the look but the voices in them cartoons, oh boy..that's just annoyingly bad. Still watch them though and as a kid it didn't bother me at all.

Oh, yes. In fact apart from my birthday it was the only time I got ponies, and my first ever MLP was Cherries Jubilee and she was a Christmas gift :inlove: My boyfriend of many years bought me a MOC German Cherries Jubilee for xmas a long time ago...he's a keeper

Oh, god yes ! I used to be a rabbit guard  for several years looking after wild bunnies here in Norway and have had a LOT of bunnies in my family over the years. Right now I only have two but we had 8 at the most and they all live inside the house. So..of course this classic have been watched a few times and we sat down and watched the new series too. The older animated film is rather traumatic but the series is less scary and didn't make me curl up in the sofa and cry.

Maybe some of the old peeps on here seem unfamiliar since a lot of users here had at least one screen name change through the years :) mine used to be miss_tuneful :silly:

Maybe you recall the old Scandinavian forum ? I don't even remember the name at this point. And the meet ups had its own thread and maybe even a website ? I used to love watching the photos and read about it. I was never able to go as my health failed and it is still impossible to go anywhere.
It never really broke out a big MLP collector community in Norway, we were two in the very early days and then there was a few more, like 4, but we never kept in touch. Sweden seemed like the place to be, hanging out watching the old MLP series and trading ponies ...ah..perfection <3

Oh yes ! Remember that  Could be another too of course as I was all over the place in the early days, Internet was new in the house back then - late bloomer.. and no Facebook of course.
MySpace wasn't much of a MLP community was it ? I was friends with collectors buy it wasn't as practical as a forum.
The Arena will forever be my go-to place. My first signature was a photoshopped photo of me riding a MLP, wonder if I still have it ???  :lovey: That got a lot of girls going ooooooohhhhh me too me tooo  Love the MLP community, they totally get all the madness <3

EDIT. I went to check mlptp.net and yes, I was there under my old name satannichen  :frolic: I rcall how tight knit we used to be, is it still like that here among all or is it a smaller group that gravitate towards each other ? I'm trying to see old names here buy maybe I'm jusr too senile to manage as there are several from back then here but the names doesn't ring a bell  :nope: *sigh*

Pony Corral / Re: Issues with 35th Anniversary Ponies
« on: December 29, 2018, 08:25:08 AM »
I just bought the only ones available in Norway and can't wait to compare with the originals..so, my only problem yet is that very few are available in Norway.
BUT..I wonder if they plan to release all the original playsets too !
I'd love to get my hands on the rare ones in mint condition but it will never be the same as the ones born in the 80s  :P
I see people mention the scent but the scented ones from the 80s still have some scent and they look good too.
But as with everything - they had better quality before. Seriously. I'm not shocked to hear about this issue but it sucks !
I suppose with the trend they wanted to make some extra $$$$ and then quality isn't really a priority.

Also, anyone else here from Scandinavia - do you find only the Rainbow ponies ? I don't even find the first Collectors pose ones - they were released first right, of the 35th ones, yes ? Is there a guide, overview, over what's been released for the anniversary ? I am a lazy collector and haven't been all over the internet hunting for a while.

I'm not at all updated on this topic but I recall buying a lot of ponies from a friend for about $20 and found a NSS Cupcake in the bunch  I can still find the old forum thread about it if I search. Also we used to drool over Mimic back in the day..now it's pretty affordable
